Well, next to Little Nemo and Krazy Kat...

Still, satire as good as Kelly's is hard to find these days. I don't think there's ever been an equal in comic strips (Tove Jansson's Moomin strips, maybe, but those are European).
Peanuts is my favorite funniepaper strip.

I still remember watching Schulz's obit on CBS. Christ, that was a long time ago.

Going to Necro this thread.

Is there any kiwis out there that are into comics and got recommendations? As I really enjoyed Crash down published by Massive - Whatnot. Pretty sure it's the same artist that did the dead space comics way back. Incredibly upset how open ended the ending was

Looking forward to "TIBBI & HER PSYCHEDELIC MUSHROOMS" as it looks like a complete joke and I'm down for trashy comics. The plot can be summarised as "College student breeds new shrooms and trips balls"

Otherwise Ken Penders is trying to republish old Archie sonic comics

I will also try to necro. I don't read many comics and I'm trying to read some comics. I've only ever read 2 comics in my life, which I will now compare and contrast.

Watchmen - I fucking hated Watchmen. Absolutely despised it. With every page I could feel Alan Moore peering over my shoulder, demanding that I recognize his genius as being far too great for comics, while also insisting that I not enjoy the experience. Alan Moore only wanted Watchmen to be read ironically by hipsters who are too cool for comics.

Sandman - On the other hand, this was actually pretty good. I really enjoyed Dream being a sort of alien main character. (And if there was anything I didn't hate about Watchmen, it was Dr. Manhattan.) He had his own code and morality which, while I don't think it was always portrayed consistently, made for a cool character. I was far more interested in the stories where Dream went off doing insane god shit rather than the basic bitch boring stories about basic bitch boring people and their basic bitch boring lives. I did like the one about Joshua Norton. And anybody who remembers Chesteron is alright in my book. I'm not sure why people always sperg out over Death, I didn't find her all that interesting. I think it might just be goth waifu lust. I'll forgive the gay shit. It was actually controversial in the 90s rather than being free internet points like it is today.

I don't inherently mind superhero stuff as long as it's actually good, and I'm a casual fan of the DCAU. No weeb shit.

What should I read?

The only one that I can think of is "The Boys" which is currently held by Dynamite. Good as a somewhat casual read as it's 72 issues long.

Basically realistic take on superheroes but differs from the Amazon show plot line to a point where you can say it's completely different. Easily findable on most pirating sites as the physical issues are price jumping each season release.

Has a couple of side comics like hero gasam and one other which is escaping my mind. Again easily findable but somewhat affordable second hand.

Recommended if you can get it for free, with caution of you have to pay.
