I have several issues of the american and dutch versions of Heavy Metal in my collection, including some Moebius stories and the famous "The Ark".
I'm saving up money every month to buy one (expensive) graphic novel since they do not come by easily in my country.

If you have a good computer or a tablet, try downloading e-comics. It's not quite as nice as a real trade paperback, but it's pretty damn cheap. Especially if you're the torrenting sort.

Usenet is really good for comics for some reason.

E-comics is how I get my fix. I just love everything aboutt the medium.
But i'm also kinda a purist and love holding books in my hands and feeling it (add pretentious and verbose monologue about traditional books here)

And thanks for reminding me, Hellblazer was an fantastic read.

True, the books are infinitely better. When I've got some actual money, I love picking up hardcover or TPB copies of my favorites. But sometimes you've just got to read All-Star Batman and Robin, and anyone who pays money for that is a nut.

True. Even Dark Knight Strikes Again which has some, uhm, artistic merit doesn't seem worth the money to have in my hands. Or much of the New 52 (despite all ttheir hard work). The exception being some select storylines. Court of Owls is next on the list.

I am stealing all of that.

On topic though. I also collect old comics cuz I like the production valuue (and try to mimick it). Daredevil issue 1 remains one of my favorites ever in my collection.

HANDS OFF MAH COMIX !!!
I also have a near complete run of the first 25 years of 2000AD (Judge Dredd) boxed up in my back room.

Poor boxed up 2000AD comics. I hope you check them regularly. Mum boxed up 15 years of Donald ducks under her bed and by the time we dug them out they had been destroyed by termites and bugs.

(For clarification, their bed is a giant kingsized bed closed off undersides. And our neighborhood lives ontop giant megacolony of termites who invade every year.)

I'm angry because I own a bunch of comics now (half of which are Sanic comics I bought when I was hardcore autistic for the franchise), and I don't have a proper place to store them. Right now I have to stack them all and put said stack under a bedside table, and it's horribly annoying to have to take out the stack and start taking comics off the top until I find the one I'm looking for.

DC Comics through and through. Only Marvel comic I keep up with is X-Men, but that's getting to be such a chore. I have a huge collection of Detective Comics, wanna try and have all of them in my grasp at one point or another.

I usually go every Wednesday, but I've been waiting for collections lately. Especially Bloodspell and the Zatanna series, I want to just get them all at once.

I've been reading through the Scribblenauts Unmasked digital comic lately, I kind of like how it's reminiscent of the Silver and Bronze Age of Comics in that it's serious/not serious, like the situations are serious but they're sort of being dealt with whimsically.

I am a Fan Of Ol' Marvel (FOOM), especially Spider-Man and Venom. This past summer I started reading the all of the S-M comics in chronological order (starting in 1963, currently at 1991) including any cross-over stories I can find. Loved the Secret War and Civil War series. I am also a very big fan of Cerebus the Aardvark (obviously -- see avatar at left), and recently started taking an interest in the comics of the '40s and '50s because they are so politically incorrect sometimes. Take this for example:

This panel is from a 1940 "The Human Torch" comic (not the Fantastic 4 guy, this was a different Human Torch). The facial expressions, body language and narration just reek of unintentional pedophilia.

I've been picking up a lot of pre-Image indies lately, and a few of the odder Big Two comics (mainly stuff like Avataars - Covenant of the Shield). A local record chain's been selling stuff out of longboxes, so I usually try to pick through them. Find all kinds of neat shit- the old First Comics Elrics, American Flagg, Poison Elves, hell, I've seen single-digit WaRP issues of Elfquest.

I usually just pick up the trades, though. Unless it's something I really want to have as a floppy, like Usagi Yojimbo or A Distant Soil.
