I believe this was the article I was thinking of. Evidently I got some details wrong, but considering this is TMS I don't think it's really a coincidence that they gave more attention to the comics for focused on preaching and the n never spoke of the other comic again.
Thanks.

The Jawbreakers drama and Fatty Doyle were featured in a Appabend video:

EDIT:
I haven’t laughed this hard in a long time.

Putting money down on Variant Comics to shut its doors in the next year or so. There's no way that shop is moving any kind of product with those whacky owners. They better hope they move a fuckload of pop vinyls or some shit to keep them afloat. In my experience whales and non-whales alike tend to prefer shops where they are welcome, not actively shit on for being white males. When you visit a shop every Wednesday you tend to get cozy with the staff.

Rumor from leaking insiders is once his current writing arcs are done, he is gone with a capital G. And it’s not even a matter of blacklisting. He has burned so many bridges over the years that he has no place else left to go. He’s a mean assed bully. DC washed their hands of him years ago. I don’t think his creator owned Image stuff sells enough to make Diamonds minimum threshold to solicit. IDW certainly can’t afford him and can’t afford the baggage and blowback that comes with him. So where’s he gonna go? Black Mask? It’s not like he carries an embedded fan base. Morrison he is not.

Any fanbase Waid had is long gone due to his constant social media spergouts and the few SJW readers probably don't recognize his name.

I don't know about that. Most of the comic book stores I know of are in medium to big cities, but they don't often earn enough money to be in nice parts of town. Most of them I know of are in distinctly sketchy areas.

The only shop I know of in a nice retail area has had the building for decades, essentially they got lucky and ended up in a nice spot pre-emptively. The only other shop in the city lies squarely in a place I wouldn't frequent after dark.

Here where I live, comic shops are usually in decent places, a lot of them are just off or actually on some of the larger streets in the country.

Holy crap that thread is a dumpster fire. It's a wonder why I avoid /co/mblr so much these days.
I miss the old days when people actually cared, just a little, and used their brains- and also didn't just shitpost all the time.
Also, I can only imagine how they'd be reacting if the lawsuit goes through- and when D&C wins. What are they going to say then?

Why do people even bother trying to delete everything when it's all archived anyways? Waid is too notable a figure, at least in comics, to not always have eyes on him.

It's about damage control at this point. They want to limit their liability and be able to say that they had nothing to do this and this guy was not acting on their behalf but was instead on a "frolic of his own," and that the moment they found about it, they shut it down.

Can I just say that while what happened to D&C is super fucked up, him refusing to sell a digital version of the comic because he personally doesn't like digital comics is really fucking stupid

If the lawsuit materializes then it'd be interesting in general to see how comic history looks back on this period considering the majority of the "press" enjoys the "high school girl clique" mess companies have basically enabled. Will Waid be seen as an example of getting too carried away with a narrative that needs to dial it back? Will Meyer be seen as someone who ruined an industry as companies have a tighter grip on what their writers/artists do with their business's name?

Not really sure since it's not like the other side of this will vanish. Just like Gamergate's corpse gets dragged around, it'll certainly be the same for this. There's always going to be someone who wishes companies would pubically insult their customerbase as if that is ever a good idea.

Oy vey, shut it down.

He says it’s to support comic shops and because you can’t form a bond with a file in a computer, but I’m 95% sure the real reason is to prevent pirating.
:story: I don't even know what is going on any more. But I love it. :story:

I smell bullshit. They’re trying to milk that burglary for all it was worth apparently it wasn’t much (shocking!). Now they gotta pick fight with customers (in case 1), if case 2 is real they really need to spend some victim bux on cameras for their store. They’ve lied so much I (and a lot of people) won’t believe what they say unless they have proof.

I kinda want to get a first edition of Jawbreakers and leave it in the plastic wrapper for just this very reason. a few decades is a long time, and if something actually does come of this that mediocre little graphic novel will become a historical artifact to people who are really into comics. Like a first edition of superman. That comic wasn't anything great from an artistic standpoint either but...

Alot of them are literally just repeating what Waide said as if that is self evident proof he dindu nuffin. I would not even be surprised if Waide himself is responsible for at least 10% of the posts in that thread. He apparently can spend an entire workday sperging on twitter. Doing the same thing on 4chan is not too big a stretch from that.
