Everybody ripped on Adam for his margins but, this is different. If the authors of these webcomics have no idea that Adam is publishing their works in printed format without any form of compensation, than that would make Ethan look really bad because he has been going to bat for Adam this whole time.

that’s not how everyone is going to see it though. You already see how the people on this board reacted to this revelation. This looks bad on CG in general and it will look bad on Ethan too if he keeps associating with Adam after learning about how he took other people’s work and passed it off as his own. Even if he did get the author’s of these works permission, he never credited them for their stories on any of Ethan’s streams. He probably didn’t even credit them when he printed the books.

ComicsGate was supposed to give creators the freedom to release work they're passionate about and not be hemmed up by purple-haired gatekeepers. Both established pros and bright-eyed hopefuls could take the stage and put out their best. But this cunt is still around and still popping into every other EVS stream, boring the audience and the panel to tears. Fuck this guy and his literal schemes and scams. Futhermore... NOWHERE on the camapaign pages for CotD or Mermaids is it detailed that these were originally webcomics published in 2013. What an absolute, shady scumbag.

I do not believe I've used this word since joining this site and it's not something I am inclined to accuse someone of being, but Adam Post is a fucking GRIFTER. This is outrageous. Yes, I'm mad at the internet and mad at the amount of money I dropped on those two piece of shit zombie books. And the fact that the cover says ADAM POST'S College of the Dead... the fucking audacity, man. Imagine if EVS slapped his name in front of Starblades. Even if the CotD books were good, where would the praise go? As I already addressed, Adam doesn't even follow the writers. He doesn't talk about them. He doesn't platform the artists. Why? Oh because he had no involvement in the books' creation? This isn't his fucking team. This isn't his project. He doesn't care about these properties. He is trying to be Ray Kroc but without the charisma, business savvy, or appealing product.

Know what would be a fun experiment? Hey @FROG, next time Adam is on the show, you should ask him the names of some of the characters from College of the Dead. Since he had absolutely no creative input and they're not memorable in the slightest, I wonder what would happen. I wonder if he even read them. Is the auction tonight or tomorrow? Get him on. Would be a good time. Maybe he can even sell an NFT to an original Mermaids panel "page."

My condolences, dude. I feel bad for anyone that got grifted by Post, really.

How Adam Post has continued to be a fixture on Frog's streams just blows my mind. For all his talk about meritocracy and nearly exclusive promotion of six figure projects created by industry pros, you'd figure the very few projects he shilled that didn't meet that criteria would at least be vetted for some kind of quality before he gave them a space on his platform these days, especially after the margin debacle that any "pro" would have never let happen, even if he was just the former editor of terrible porn comics.

Cecil and Charlie's London aren't pros but barely amateurs that have never made a comic before. They ended up in the positions they're in because they are in Frog's good graces for whatever reason (mainly ass kissing and constant superchats) but at the VERY least the projects they're involved with look pretty good and they're both actually part of the creative process of making the books they're shilling. The idea of CAPS promotion being a meritocracy is a little weak with those two getting a spot but it's absolutely nonexistent for Adam Post.

Even lowly Michael Derrick has more room to call himself a "creator" than Adam. Yeah, Michael Derrick, whose book was not even considered middle of the road by Frog and yet he had no problem regularly promoting every single one of Adam Post's three bullshit campaigns. Derrick is a whiny asshole and sucks up to WC, but let's not pretend anything Adam Post has ever shilled on CAPS streams is better than Greyskale.

Post clearly isn't an interesting guest on streams, doesn't do any work on the absolutely subpar projects he pretends to be responsible for, and obviously hasn't earned a place on the biggest stage in CG through merit, the question remains: why is EVS giving him a platform and not someone else? It's not like there aren't people out there with better projects that would be better foils for Ethan on the streams. Fuck, I'd much rather see Nasser on the streams again than Adam Toast. At least he's actually producing something and Ethan can fuck with him for laughs. Shane is pretty boring too, but at least people bother to make jokes about him. Nobody says anything to Adam because he sucks the air out of everything.

Is Frog getting a percentage of this grift? Just askin'. I know he doesn't need the money but I don't put anything past anybody when a buck is involved. I'm of the opinion that other YT comics people take money for promoting shitty looking books that the creators actually made, so why not for helping a guy that already has several books worth of content made by unknown creators during the Obama administration that he can just print and sell? It's seriously the only reason I can imagine Ethan letting a boring no-talent like Adam Post anywhere near his platform. Well, that or blackmail.

As for Adam Post, I think he missed the bus on CG's creators making their own comics. Not bargain basement webcomics I'm not arsed into even creating. He's one step below TUG, at least his ripoff self-insert was his bad idea.

Since this has been exposed now I'd expect Post is going to be riding the bus from the undercarriage from here on out.

The building adjacent to his future "studio" has a foundation. That's not a trailer park despite his neighbor living in what looks like a trailer.

Another thing, and this is more of a general gripe than one specifically for Adam Post: creators ought to stop pitching their projects by comparing them to preexisting properties that people like. All Adam ever said about Mermaids when asked to pitch it was "it's like Game of Thrones with mermaids." That's retarded and lazy. If you can't sell us on what's original about your book without trying to link it to something popular, why should someone buy your book instead of buying the ASOIAF books? How about people who don't like Game of Thrones? Should they back this? Lots of creators do this shit. Now, in Adam's case, it probably has more to do with the fact that he doesn't know how to pitch the property because it isn't his and he barely even knows what it's about. But still. Sell me on something original. Don't tell me your property is basically just Star Wars meets Harry Potter starring a Wolverine knockoff. These descriptions remind me of an old debacle where a video game "journalist" reviewed Far Cry 3 and said it's "like Skyrim with guns." That was a great laugh and lit up the messageboards for ages.

You can definitely relate certain elements of your story to other properties or characters to give the audience a better idea of what's going on while you're describing the project. But flat out saying something like "basically it's Game of Thrones" is a huge turnoff. Work harder, dummies.

I disagree. I think it can be an effective way to describe a book in shorthand to the audience and get across the sort of themes and setting in an easily understandable sound bite. If I said "like Asterix but drawn by the guy who does the Horrible History book covers" you'd know what book I was referencing. (I hope)

Just live up your own hype. Especially if comparing to billion dollar franchises.

A lot of people really love Conan and Prince Valiant so they definitely will and do love Deus Vult if they're into those!

A very good campaign though I did get burnt out cuz I hustled and streamed so hard those first 3 weeks that it made me dial back almost everything I was doing the last couple of weeks here, but this was what we were hoping this book would achieve funds wise. I'm told it's the 3rd highest-grossing comicsgate book this year so far behind Ethan and Jon which is awesome too.

I know the farms gave a lot of support so thank you. I appreciate all of you guys. Thank you for helping this movement grow.

Fair point. I suppose I hadn't considered the attempt to make an extremely short pitch to someone completely unfamiliar with it. I do still find it somewhat frustrating, however. And living up to the hype is another important point. If, for example, I made a sci-fi amateur film and kept comparing it to Alien in its promotion, it had better be really fucking good. If it falls short (or if it's absolute garbage), then you've got fans of the popular work who will think "how dare this dipshit compare that piece of garbage to something so beloved and highly regarded."

But when you have plenty of time to promote to an audience who's probably heard of the work, I need you to start diving a bit deeper than "Game of Thrones + mermaids."
