I don't think Caanan switched teams, or declared allegiance or any of that. He already publicly announced he wasn't a part of CG sometime in March of this year if I Recall Correctly. There was a post about it here. Caanan is a guy who constantly needs work, and hasn't found his break yet. It wasn't long ago this guy was selling his originals on Miller's Friday Night Auctions for $100. Since the failure of Brand 2, and more recently Super Burger Man he's had a few interesting jobs.

He was on a book with Brett Booth, and Ryan Stegman for example. Two guys very comfy with the mainstream. Booth you may know from his twitter interactions with fans by redrawing stuff for people, as well as some excellent takes on Manga

Booth and Stegman contributed Variant covers to this project. The usual SJW concern tweets should have followed a known CG'er working on this with those two artists, but perhaps because Caanan White is Black, or unknown it seems to have escaped most of the usual suspects notice.

Caanan also did a cover "Iron Skies" by Kris Rue. You might remember him around the same time as Micah being welcome on Frog's streams and during both Shinobi Sasquatch, Monster MD's class of Comicsgate.

I don't think Caanan gives a shit who's paying him. He did that Iron Skies cover for $500 if I remember correctly. Antonio Brice (The dumbest man in comics) was "acting" as Caanan's Art rep during this time and made it happen during a promotional livestream he did for Kris Rue. A guy who was talking about selling his car to make sure his book got funded.

I never heard of this book before this post. We should find out if they are SJWs and Caancel Caanan for making money. (Sarcasm)

Caanan is one of the guys in the early days of comicsgate that brought a lot of credibility to CG. Incredible talents alongside the professionals who were joining. The future was so bright back then, even with Antonio Brice involved somehow. I don't know if there's someone in CG who will give Caanan the break he needs, but until then Im not going to give him any grief for the jobs he takes. It's not been easy for him obviously and sometimes good artists just don't get the success they're capable of.

Ethan has consistently said that Canaan should do his own book for a long time. With his talent it's a $30-40k comic out of the gate. If he has no clue about fulfillment, pay ALLCAPS to do it. He'd still be ahead rather than just doing covers and other work here and there.

I think Canaan is a quiet guy from what I remember, so maybe he doubts his ability to pull it off. He should just take a look at the barely functioning adults who somehow brought a book to fulfillment.

Even if he's not a great writer just swipe a fucking story from some old Sci-fi comic or something. To think this guy gets saddled with retards like Antonio and perverts like Preston makes me seriously bummed out. Nut up, bro, and put your pretty art on a comic with your name on it.

I like this idea a lot. If anything I felt Brand 1 made Caanan's art suffer. Would love to see what he'd come up with on his own.

That or if Zack ever finishes up fullfillment Caanan would be a much better get than Narwhal. He could even call it "Zaanan".

Am I understanding this correctly? This looks like such a scam. So it says the book is 72 pages, but if you look at the stretch goals, that is only of the campaign gets to $10,000. It's 48 pages if the campaign gets to $6000. Right now, the $25 tier for the graphic novel is only 24 pages since(as of writing this) it's only at just above $1000. Also, with other campaigns, the tiers show what you get with when you back at that tier plus the stretch goals. Liam's $25 tier is just the book and then list what you get if the campaign hits the stretch goals.

Also, the hero's name is "Arrowyn," which sounds far too much like "heroine" for a male protagonist, if you ask me. Is Liam going for a big-brain surprise reveal at the end where the hero's true gender was the friends we made along the way?

Final note: the campaign page is riddled with errors and doesn't actually list the creative team at any point. Sloppy work from Mensa boy.

Divorced from any prejudices I objectively like the campaign page itself. Its got a strong over all presentation and flow. It's one of the better campaigns I've seen this year.

The adding additional stories / chapters for each stretch goal is an interesting model. If the book doesn't make a big number he won't be lumbered with having to finish 70 odd pages or w/e it was.

This book is the closest looking thing I've seen to what Krishna Kid will be like so I'll be watching with interest and taking notes.

My issue is with what @The Coon pointed out. From the campaign:

But that's only if the book reaches $10k. The book is 24 pages as it stands. I also don't care for listing items in the different tiers that you only get if the campaign reaches certain goals. Functionally, it's no different from how your standard campaign adds stretch goals, but I don't care for something being listed in your chosen tier that you may not receive. I can see it leading to backer confusion.

As far as the flow of the campaign page, I don't disagree with you. It offers a decent bit of information on the story and characters and includes plenty of art and some fun graphics. But make sure to list your creative team, Commie!
 
Manga is like any other comics category, it's mostly trash except for the really good stuff.

99.99% of Manga is teen drama with a basic plot of "Self-insert-kun is a manlet with no friends, but suddenly, a HOT 6-foot-tall, DDD-breasted 14 year old, Waifu-chan is forced to talk to him! She's so clumsy! She keeps falling on top of poor Self-insert-kun and crushing his face with her hot sweaty tits! How embarrassing!"

And the remaining 0.01% are the ones normies have heard of.

For me it would be fine if he made it more clear at the top of the campaign page that it's 24 pages and grows a chapter for each stretch goal. Also, if he started off at the standard $25 for 48 pages and then had the stretch goal to add 24 more or the tier was $10 or $15 for 24 pages and grows with each stretch goal that would be fine. The starting out at $25 for 24 pages is bullshit.
