People always seem to remember Cap punching Hitler, but they mysteriously forget Superman doing this:

If you want to get autistic, you could always point out how Captain America never punched Hitler in Captain America Comics #1 and they're talking about a cover. Comic covers are known to do outrageous things to get people's attentions to get them to pick them up, Cap punching the leader of a country we weren't at war with at the time being a good example. It's why there's tons of Superman covers of him being a complete asshole so you think "Wow, what happened to Superman?" when none of it reflects the contents of the comic. Cap fought Nazis in Europe since his first appearance but not like people think.

Probable autism incoming:
Very true- but in this case this is less a "Didn't happen in the story" and more "Let's make it look like we're doing our patriotic duty to win the war" by putting a War Bonds advertisement on the front. Comic book heroes were legitimately pictured fighting the war (especially check out the Fleischer Superman cartoons). This is the kind of thing people would sperg about today, but the fact that Japan had sucker-punched America with Pearl Harbor and the comics reader of the time would either have brothers or fathers in uniform or be drafted/enlisting themselves gives it a little more context. Winning the war was on everyone's mind when this cover came out.

I was making the distinction because the "Cap punched Hitler!" cover came out nearly a year before US involvement in WW2 meanwhile "Slap a Jap" was two years after they entered the war. It's a fairly common thing brought up by people who mention the Cap cover to justify making dumb stories of capes beating up people who disagree with the writer.

I agree with your point, but it is worth noting that Cap was created by two Jews. Last I checked the Hebrew people had beef with the president of the Charlie Chaplin Cosplayer's Club long before America did.

But... I thought NO ONE punched Hitler before America Chavez! She said she'd "make it a thing!". Surely, the proud womyn POC writers at Marvel can do better than retread a trope from 80 years ago to build up a character no one cares about??

Completely fair.

Edit: Woah, way late by a year. How long has comics been this SJW'y for?

Wow, you think that's bad, I had a guy in High School that called me Dave for years. My name's not Dave.

EDIT: Also, maybe the Doctor misgendered you because you were at a fertility clinic and he's like "Yeah, for intent of birthing a human baby, you have no uterus. You're biologically a dude, sir."

See now, my high school was way more woke. If you were a worthless faggot, no one was afraid to point it out.

Eh, depends what you're looking for. For example SJWs like you see on Tumblr really got into the characters around the time of the first Avengers movie in 2012 and Marvel got crazy with replacing all their characters around the time of "Avengers NOW!" which was late 2014. That particular take on Batgirl is also from around 2014 and is kind of an oddity in DC's currently line-up. She was the result of a period where the New 52 was failing so they decided to try to go in weird directions like treating their series like indie books until that made this worse. For some reason Batgirl's new direction stuck but everything else went back to more classic action/adventure stories people wanted.

Edit: Considering comics are written in advance, it's possible the attention they got around 2012 by supposedly "mainstream" crowds manifested itself as the changes you saw in 2014.

To be fair, a dude walking down the street talking to himself isn't exactly new in a big city. I know I'd only give him a second look once I realized he wasn't talking about the aliens who are controlling us through our toothpaste.
