No problem, it's just a lot parallels in the way it's happening in both communities. Sorry for the derail.
Nah don't sweat it, it's all culture wars, so you're gonna see a lot of Deja Vu everywhere, it's just that I want to keep the thread as sharp and info-dense as possible.

Interesting, I never came across this one yet.. Was he involved in any major events so far? Or does he just sperg-out and shake his fist at the sky?

Nick, Andrew, and Josh make the trinty of militant butthurt anti-CGers. I will have more on Josh and Andrew soon, I'm currently busy with some other stuff:

Jesus, that's everything wrong with political comics in a nutshell. Who the hell needs all these labels including the ones on T'Challa and Diana? I'd be surprised if there was some remote village in Africa that didn't know what Wonder Woman looked like at this point. The stuff about that having nothing to do with comics has already been said.

It is from The Onion.

The ultimate irony of that "political" cartoon is that it acts as though that WW and BP making boatloads of money are somehow wins for the female and black demographics respectively when in reality the profit made from those big blockbusters are only lining the pockets of the already ultra rich Hollywood execs and actors who don't give a fuck about the struggles of the common people outside of how to cater to them for more money.

Bragging about profits as a "win" for social justice or whatever has always been fucking exceptional; you can bleat about "muh representation" all you want but at the end of the day a sanitized Hollywood product isn't gonna do shit about the sorry state of the school system or get more women in STEM.

LOL. So superhero films didn't make mad bank until a black man and a woman starred in them?

Double LOL at the fact that while comic book based films are raking in the cash, all these "diverse" comic books (starring black men and women!) are getting shitcanned because they are bombing harder than Katy perry's newest album.

I mean, I can understand the idea of wanting people to look up to, and that in turn can help inspire people into joining the professions, like what Dana Scully did (the Scully Effect). But a big problem comes from this attitude that it's a zero sum game and that winning mandates that you rub it in to people's faces, even if those people whose faces your rubbing it in didn't consider it a competition and are now wondering/resentful that you're rubbing your metaphorical dick in their faces.

LMAO, Poe's Law. Now I don't even know if it was used sarcastically or not in that tweet.

I forgot to answer your questions.
He probably has you blocked, he like most of the other spergs on the anti-side, is very block happy. He's been in most of the major events and he spergs out in everyone. Instead of "sperg-out and shake his fist at the sky", he makes "Heh, Checkmate Comicsgate" in very condescending tweets. Bluntly he's a dumbass, just look at this interaction from the previous post:
screencapture-archive-is-SVWol-2018-03-19-14_57_12.png

"Summer Blockbuster in Winter"
"It's basically a 'summer' movie in February"

What... What am I looking at here? Is that a legitimate page from spider-man? He's wearing that shirt but also making a move the needle reference and calling himself the world's biggest loser while he apparently shoots up - is this supposed to be aimed at someone or did the writer and artist just flip out autistically?

It's a real panel but the needle is edited in, and they changed what Peter said.

It's a plotline of Spiderman becoming CEO of a big industry (a tony stark affiliate I think?) and then falling miserably and having to live on the shoulders of his feminist girlfriend (the tshirt is hers and it's a reference to a sadly famous cover). The idea of Spiderman being a billionaire CEO was idiotic in the first place, since being the everyday guy is half of his shtick, but I digress.

The weird thing about Spidey is he always was pretty damn smart and had marketable skills that often got ignored in the comics. After all, as a teenager he used a mix of chemicals and other stuff from a science kit he had to make an industrial strength adhesive that was self dissolvable. He also gadgeted up a device to spray it as strands or webbing from hand using a bevy of spare parts. Him being a CEO is shortsighted, but I wouldn't have minded a Pete that became a Starktech man with his own design team... in competent hands.

Kind of like how I wouldn't mind Laura taking Logan's mantle... if it was done in competent hands and not that Honey Badger shit.

I can understand his skills being acknowledged and having a good role/job on it, but another rich superhero is getting tiring. Batman and Stark have the 'no actual superpowers, just technology and money' and Black Panther has king drama to counterbalance. Spiderman, I just don't get the image. The only sense I see in it is that they gotta get rid of him to make space for the mixed kid spiderman...not very exciting.

On a slightly related note: as annoying as America Chavez is, the idea of a homeless college gal superhero was interesting.
