One thing I can't help but notice is how generic a lot of this stuff looks. It's not just the designs, it's the coloring and pencils too. It just seems like, and I mean it is, an alt DC/Marvel comic, which is different in its political leanings alone. Looking at some of Isom's villains I can't help but think, "What recycled Superman/Avengers/Invincible C list villains are these?" Cyberfrog's heroes feel similar, but it reminds me more of Darkseid War than anything, which was never as interesting as the pre-crisis lore it was based on.
To be honest, I know I would continue doing what Gary is doing if I was getting paid ungodly amounts of money by retards. Same goes for the fearful leader of the Cucks and Gamers crew. They talk so much about being high school dropouts that I think they know the only other jobs they could get are shitty jobs only suitable for high school dropouts.
People like EVS, their abilities and ideas haven't changed, only which side they are on in terms of the comic industry. Since he did a lot of DC work, is it really surprising his current works reflect the style of his when he was with them? This is also the same for other ex-mainstream players. They bring their style and ideas with them into CG.
There's also an argument to be made that, to make money, you give people what you think they want. In this case, they believe what worked for DC/Marvel back in those days will work today. Whether that is true or not depends on the money they bring in. So far, it seems to be true for the more successful CG business peeps.
Innovators and groundbreakers are rare, in mainstream or out of it, and these people take a big risk in changing the status quo. Not everyone wants to take that risk, especially when their ability to make a living depends on keeping a costumer fanbase happy by meeting their expectations.
Fandom Menace YouTubers would starve if Disney started making good movies.
The grift gets a lot of play but I really don't think that's what has put these guys in a bad light. Most people know they'd take the gig, too, all other things being equal, even if they believe they'd do it with a bit more class or whatever. What got a portion of their audience miffed was the chronic emotional dishonesty and lack of integrity when they positioned themselves as regular fans with plenty of both, were eventually tested, failed, then failed on top of that fail with a failure to own up to the initial failure.
Take a simple superchat from one of Gary's streams last week. Some retard with $5 to burn wants to know what's up with Doomcock and their spoopy ExoZone show.

Now, had Gary handled this thing honestly from Jump Street he'd have a <60sec answer that's probably sufficient and requires zero effort because it's honest and - by now - well practiced. Instead, he has to sperg about his schedule being full like he's trying to blow off a chick he's not interested in. No one believes this. Gary doesn't believe it. His audience doesn't believe it. The retard who sent the superchat probably doesn't believe it. The reason being is that they broadcast the entire fucking drama to their audience in the first place. There's obviously more to it and it's not a secret and that was probably the subtext of the superchat. I don't think it's lost on anyone that he hasn't done a stream with Doomcock since then and even now refuses to mention the guys name much less say anything nice about him. It's this kind of really gay behavior that piques people's interest and for a guy who claims to not be into drama, it's really an odd move that just courts more drama. Good for our work here to be sure, but not good for his audience.
An hour later in the stream he goes on a tear against Hollywood but sort of gives some unintentional insight into how he presumably keeps the Zeroes in line, including Doomock. Not in all those words, of course, but if you assume that Gare-bear does a lot of projecting, it fits. Basically, use who you can ("allies") and then surround yourself with people too stupid/passive/weak to threaten you (aka "friends"). Apparently, moving to a red state helps as well. I still entertain the theory that this is ultimately why he had to put himself at odds with EVS. Ethan's cutting east coast ball-busting doesn't jibe with west coast sociopathic phoniness. They are an entirely different sub-species of sociopath.

Probably a big reason why they can ride the single-minded Star Wars grift for so long is that it dovetails nicely with the mental illness on display - the pettiness, the "personal" vindictiveness (Kathleen Kennedy! Kurtzman!). No one who is as apparently successful as Gary and co. are should still be spitting venom daily at Disney like it's last decade. Especially not after claiming to be "over it" every week.

Honestly, it seems like these guys are trapped in some fucked-up Twilight Zone gilded cage where they finally got what they wanted but are now encountering the Peter Principle and they're trapped. For Gary / FNT / G+G to talk about other things, positive things, they'd have to subordinate themselves to those things and their creators to some extent (becoming mere fans again) and there is probably only so much Eric July fellatio one can perform in a stream so it's a bit of a trap.
I would have some shame with those "Join" subscriptions or patreon and not doing anything to make it worth it(Frog at least sends people free trading cards), or scamming people out of money with a shitty comic or product. I wouldnt feel shame getting a few $200-$500 superchats or 200 of those $5-$20 superchats. I put this more on the retards sending the superchats than the ones grifting for them. You have never had to superchat to watch these shows and I cant blame the actions of retards, who want their stupid statement that has been said a thousand times before to be read out, on the person doing the show.Nah, I'd have too much shame.
Hell he tried to do it with the BBC with Az, but even that turned into a superchat/complain fest, which ballooned to have Mauler and others on the show. Once you put together an audience that's there for the dumpsterfires you'll never escape it.What people suggest Gary doesn't work for him because he tried it with very limited success. And he isn't unique. All the Fagdom Menace were trying to be fanboy channels of some kind with little to limited success.
I actually used to like the real BBC. They would show off and talk about a lot of nice comics. Now they have Mauler and Nina Infinity(Twitter) on the show, both of which talk about how they know pretty much nothing about comics and dont read them. Also, im pretty sure Nina has never had an original thought while on this show, she is always just repeating what the others say.@jspit2.0

Thank you! Book 2 has 26 of 100 pages finished already!@NasserRabadi13 - Got my copy of Creepsters. I take photos like a boomer, but here you go:

I really enjoyed it. It was delightful, in that 80s 'people getting dismembered but it's all good fun because there's a kid and a dog' sort of way. I liked it enough that I'm willing to admit on KiwiFarms that I'm planning to buy the next one!
I want to see what happens with the sharks.
Thanks so much!Wow, that's three posts with praise for Creepsters. High praise indeed considering the cynics in this thread and how many of us were snarking on it when Nasser first posted the idea here.
Sounds like the book's a hit. Well done.
Come on, some of these streamers need that support for their one day off a week so they can take Khet out for authentic Italian food. This even goes for the streamers that actively beg for or complain due to the lack of superchats. Only absolute retards would give these streamers their hard earned money. Its hard for me to blame these streamers more than the superchatter(though I will defiantly laugh at both).

Agreed about the comic boomer stuff. I was listening in on one of his recent streams about the Paypal shitstorm and a a lot of people were sending him superchats along the lines of "I haven't touched a comic in 10-15 years, but..."Hi, first time post after I've been lurking around for a while.
Been following the whole Rippaverse shenanigans for a while and I'm glad that there's a bit of skepticism here in the Farms about July's attempt to 'save comics'. The shill threads on 4chan also have their own skeptics thankfully enough.
Here's my two cents: Most people don't care anymore about 90s capeshit except edgy try-hards like Ed Piskor. It's mainly a bunch of boomers and older millennials who rage about the current state of superheroes the way their dads rage about how it was better in the good ol' days. And the funny thing is, July lauded the success of manga over American comics. Instead of following that direction and hiring a mix of different talents with different art styles, to mix things up a bit and attract a larger audience, he goes full 90s capeshit to fight the current deluge of woke capeshit.
Think back to anthologies like Dark Horse Presents or Heavy Metal. And since I'm from Blighty, we have 2000 AD, which mixes stories featuring action, cosmic horror, comedy or even political thrillers. A 96-page flagship title with several stories inside for the prices he listed would be a much more sensible approach, in turn giving plenty of young hopefuls a launching pad for their careers. His paypiggies would have still forked their cash as long as he's preaching his anti-woke or anti-SJW in the crowdfunding campaign.
Speaking of which, it's a little strange not to preview at least 10 pages of the comic to give us an idea about the flow of it, the quality of the writing or the quality of the art itself. Previews are important to generate more hype or give us a better idea of what we're paying for, @YoungRippa59. So far your characters and premise are too generic to warrant $35.
I'm intrigued to see where Rippaverse and Isom go, and whether he sinks or swims, but I haven't pre-ordered because that would be a little foolish at this stage. I'm more interested in stacking my shelf with bande desinee like Elric of Melniboné and some of those titles that Rageaholic gushed about.
I really like anthologies too, but in practice I can see how trying to coordinate a handful of artists and writers signed to contracts, wrangled to get all their stuff done and in before deadline, and then splitting up all the money could be more complicated and less fun than just making a book yourself.Think back to anthologies like Dark Horse Presents or Heavy Metal. You know, I can say the same thing but my 10-15 years ago was "Mommy, what's that? Can I get it?" not having a single clue what comics were or who Venom was, I just wanted the book with the cool looking monster guy on it. Never had the money or ability to get into comics as a small kid. Now that I'm actually at the age where I have disposable income and a life outside of the military, I wanted to actually get into comics after enjoying the early MCU stuff along with young childhood memories of that first comic, but stumbling blocks were it being a huge convoluted mess of lore and now it's just woke bullshit.Agreed about the comic boomer stuff. Well, I can see the US comicbook industry rising like the Phoenix, as soon as everything in the current industry burns to the ground. You do surprise me.
Insert generic grumble about Perch being a bigger fence sitter than Tim Pool here. The wildest thing about his channel is his optimism that mainstream western comics will rise like a phoenix from the ashes, and he's terrified of pissing off anyone remaining in it just in case he gets what he wishes for. And outside of it, in case he doesn't.
It's funny to imagine his strict middle of the road, don't-even-glance-left-or-right approach being upset by the see-sawing of a guest that he probably figured for a known quantity.
Edit: MATI time.

'A hit with readers'. NOBODY'S READ IT YET.
Give Zack Snyder a good script or David Goyer a director who knows how to make a shit script into a good movie and you get a good movie.I still remember when the Martha meme circulated and Snyderverse was (rightfully so, IMO) ridiculed for being a 13-year old's tryhard efforts to be "edgy" and "dark". There was a suspiciously abrupt pivot to Synderverse being all that is good and holy later on, coinciding with the whole release the Synder cut uproar.
Snyder fans only are a special breed, completely convinced that he is the greatest director-writer-everything in the last five generations, and they also somehow find a way to swarm any Snyder-negative videos or event comment with angry rebuttals. But the turnaround is really sus, and I'm half-convinced the Rolling Stone expose has some truth to this whole Snydergod hype being paid marketing. Even if it's, you know, the Rolling Stone.
I do remember reading that, in Italy, there was outrage over Dylan Dog getting a reboot that was unpopular with old fans. When we did the big data analysis of comicsgate twitter we found that the French, Belgians and Italians had zero representation in CG. Not because they don't care about comics but because their industries are strong.
Skinner "No, the children are wrong" moment.
I've been against the Snyderverse since I still worked at DC Comics.
Although I'm happy with the idea of fans demanding a corporation deliver the content that they want and winning, Zack Snyder went out of his way to piss all over half of his autistic nerd army with that Geeks and Gamers charity event. So there's no real joy in Mudville there.
But before all of that, the Snyderverse itself is ugly and cynical and doesn't represent those characters in a fun way, imo. Warner Bros was correct to axe it.
Plus, there's Amber Heard, Ezra Miller and Ray Fisher.
Magazines are dead, there's really no point in waiting for their comeback. I don't care how good the story is most people will wait for the movie.Well, I can see the US comicbook industry rising like the Phoenix, as soon as everything in the current industry burns to the ground.
US comics are on a death spiral for years and years (and probably the reason behind CG) and nothing can stop it unless the current industry dies, gets buried and a new crop of comics rises from it's grave.
Give Zack Snyder a good script or David Goyer a director who knows how to make a shit script into a good movie and you get a good movie.
Team those two together and add a lot of executives who try to cash in on the MCU phenomenon without understanding it and you get the DCEU shitshow.
For all the shit that Geoff Jones and James Wan get, they understood both the comics and how to make a cinematic universe. Aquaman being the most successful movie in the franchise is no accident.
I do remember reading that, in Italy, there was outrage over Dylan Dog getting a reboot that was unpopular with old fans.
But I have to say, if CG gets their hands on the Epicentre comics translations of Itallian Comics they might enjoy some good old-fashion Western/Action goodness that is fun to read. No capeshit though.
Also, Francobelgians and Itallians have vastly different industries. BD offers high quality product at a slow rate, Italy is closer to the Japanese model, only instead of anthologies they put out 100-page monthlies in Black and White.
PS: Happy to see @NasserRabadi13 get some praise for Creepsters, he is turning into a CG chad this year.
I never talked about floppies makin a comeback.Magazines are dead, there's really no point in waiting for their comeback. I don't care how good the story is most people will wait for the movie.
Zack Snyder is geek Michael Bay.I have never understood the "movement" for this Snyder shit. He's a bad director. Style over substance. But his style is shallow and shit. He doesn't like comics, has no inclination to write a comic book story. And no one I know IRL actually likes his films. Not a single person. From Hardcore autists about comics to Marvel guzzling normalfag consumers. The only people who ever gave a shit were You Tubers. Man of Steel was shit, BvS was worse, and ZSJL was obnoxious and indulgent wank that said nothing and did less
