While the big shows had a surprising amount of cocks on display last night, from
alt right giant Gavin McInnes' dwarf sized dick to some unknown little dwarf fellas presumably giant sized one, on my own humble little show we were joined by Drunk3po and took the time out to engage in a different type of dick measuring...
"FANDOM MENACE" INFLUENCE 2023
The Fandom Menace itself may be a thing of the past, after numerous interpersonal schisms between the leading names and faces of the movement, what was once the most talked about example of "bad fan behaviour" by the mainstream finds itself relegated to the history books as a mere footnote in the culture wars. While the interpersonal war may have ceased (publicly) many of the big names may have moved on and built their own platforms and taken a chunk of fans / viewers with them. What was once a mostly united empire now finds itself divided harder than the Ottomans after the Sykes-Picot Agreement.
The audience that once formed the Fandom Menace can be divided into four main sub groups or cliques, we however can only see the three largest of the four (because I'm a poor dirty communist and refuse to pay the $676pm for the full package). The FM audience can be broken down into these three groups: "Geeks and Gamers / FNT," "conservative artists" and "sci-main". The first two are pretty self explanatory where as "sci-main" seems to represent sci fi fans who in the face of the declining quality of western nerd entertainment have gravitated eastwards towards your Anime girls and your waifu body pillows.
With the landscape having changed dramatically since the last time we looked at this data two years ago its very interesting to see who were the real winners and losers of the divide. I can't be arsed to explain for a fifth time how influence is calculated - go and watch one of the previous times we've done this for the comicsgate audience if you actually want to know a bit more about how it works. But nobody really cares about that what they do care about though is
who is the most influential?
THE TOP FIVE:
In a post cucked by Zak Snyder world Jeremy "Geeks and Gamers" Griggs now finds himself top of the pile usurping the previous winner Anna That Star Wars Girl by a very narrow margin. Ah! You may cry thats not really Jeremys account its the "muh brand" account. If you are one of those people then rest assured that his personal account comes sixth. On reflection it should be no surprising that G+G has now emerged as the leading voice in the void left by the collapse of the Fandom Menace. Personally, based on anecdotal observation, I did expect to find Nerdrotic to be sat on the top of the pile - ya know because he seems to be "in charge" but alas, no, that title goes to Jeremy. For me though the biggest and most hilarious discovery is that not only is Nerdrotic not ranked #1, hes also BEHIND his arch nemesis Doomcock. Say what you will about reliability and authenticity the tin faced Dr. Doomer but he's got a level of theatricality and watchability that in my opinion puts his content on another level.
THE FULL LIST:
EXTRA LITTLE BITS OF NOTE:
- Mecha McRandom has slipped from 11th to off the fucking charts.
- HeelsVsBabyFace is nowhere to be seen, again
- Ryan Kinel breaks into this list for the time as does Yellowflash
- Merry Mayhem, Mara Jade and Mark Hamill all slip out of the top 20
CONCLUSION:
Gary isn't as influential to the audience as he is to the career trajectories of the creators orbiting him. Geeks and Gamers are far more influential to the audience and while we mock him for the "muh brand" stuff the reality is that in this globalist consumer capitalist reality we find ourselves in where marketing is equal in value to if not greater than the value of content produced... i guess he's doing a good job. *pats on back*
