I love muh boi Zach soooo much. These soyboy spergs keep trying to take swipes at him, and end up whiffing out hard every time. :story:

So how many copies do we expect this thing to move?

Or is it not "supposed to" really be a success after the fact, his win is just that he got the money to make it at all?
For a graphic novel it’s doing pretty good, Zack has extended the deadline for the IndieGogo and now there’s 9 days left until it’s over. Most crowdfunded comics get a push from media like IGN, Bleeding Cool, etc... but in JawBreakers case they haven’t talked about it at all and won’t because it’s haram, since they won’t touch it, Zack is showing his and Youtube’s influence in the market. It’s paying off pretty well with $118,575 USD raised by 3331 backers and all of that was Zack and the CG “community” showing they can actually move needles. Even if the book isn’t entertaining, the salt from it will be.

They're basically frauds that have moved on from "McDonald's coffee burned me" and "I slipped on pee-pee at the Costco".
At least the McDonald's coffee had been an actual case of neglect since it had been set like 100 degrees higher than the legal limit and was hot enough to literally melt someone's genitals. This is more like "I didn't know this guy was an Arab when I had a one night stand with him so that means he raped me"

Holy shit, that's both incredibly lazy and a rather disturbing dip into the uncanny valley.

Say what you will about the EU comics, at least they didn't rely on tracing still images from the movies.
Most often they don’t trace stills, and there can be some great writing.
I recommend reading the Darth Vader comics, or the “Vader Down” arc. Some of the best that Marvel’s putting out right now. Darth Maul’s comic was pretty good too.

I love how Tim literally has a sockpuppeteer as his avatar.

(No evidence it's him, but we all know he's the only person who is obsessed enough to make the account)

Also, this cracked me up:

Yep, income-wise, the big money will come from the Indigogo campaign as there's far fewer middlemen to take a cut, and people are prepared to pay a lot for graphic novels. As said, the numbers now is pretty impressive. It's on the way to have enough backers that it would place 3rd on this month list of graphic novels. And that's 100% sales to customers, comixology nr:s are books shipped to stores, unknown how many leave the shelf.

It's extra impressive considering there's no backing from any company, not even a smaller indie one, no existing characters used, and obviously no coverage from the corrupt "comicsbook media".

I'd take a guess that sales through stores will be somewhere between 5k-10k extra sales. But that'll be a lot less money that what the graphc novels bring in.

There's somewhat of a point that this doesn't nessecarily change the game or anything. There's been a lot or non-SJW comics already that's bypassed the publishers through use of crowdfunding. The big message this sends is primarily about the influence of Zach and his Youtube channel and fans.

I don't doubt that, some of the pages that I've seen on the Star Wars Reddit page looked awesome (especially from the Vader comics). Hell, the art in general looks solid enough, which makes me wonder why the tracings exist in the first place. They'd be way better off just drawing the characters from scratch.

It seems all they do these days is licenses (Power Rangers & Jim Henson(?)) and books nobody buys. Glad to see they're being consistent going forward.

BOOM! Studios Hires Jeanine Schaefer As Executive Editor
News
May 2, 2018 Comic Book Club0
BOOM! Studios announced today that it has hired Jeanine Schaefer as Executive Editor. In this newly created role, Schaefer will report directly to Matt Gagnon, Editor-in-Chief, and function in a leadership role within the Editorial department while overseeing a new, yet-to-be-revealed line of titles. Schaefer’s hire leads off a series of exciting personnel changes at BOOM! Studios to be announced later today.

After earning a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), Creative Writing and Literature from Hofstra University in 2000, Schaefer has distinguished herself for over fourteen years as a influential figure in the comic book industry, discovering new voices and championing diversity both on the page and behind the scenes. Beginning her career at DC Entertainment in 2004, Schaefer was an instrumental part of the landmark 52 weekly comic book series and edited Grant Morrison’s acclaimed run on Batman, along with guiding iconic series like Robin and Legion of Super-Heroes. Schaefer later moved to Marvel Entertainment in 2008 where she played a key role in developing the groundbreaking “Women of Marvel” initiative, including the acclaimed Girl Comics limited series in 2010; overseeing the historic first gay superhero wedding in the pages of Astonishing X-Men #51, which saw the publisher partner with NYC Mayor Bloomberg in 2012; and the top-selling “Death of Wolverine” storyline in the pages of Wolverine in 2014. She was promoted to Senior Manager, Talent Relations in 2014 where she focused on discovering new, diverse voices to further develop existing and new Marvel Comics characters, drawing acclaim from outlets like NPR, Jezebel and more. Recently, Schaefer has edited critically acclaimed series at publishers including the award-nominated Jonesy for BOOM! Studios in 2015 and Motor Crush from Image Comics in 2016.

“I’m so excited to join BOOM! Studios right now, as they take the next step in their growth as a progressive voice in comics,” said Schaefer. “BOOM! Studios’ mission and outlook, their dedication to partnering with creators to expand the scope of comics and the breadth of their readership are all vital to the health of the industry.”

Added Gagnon, “This is one of the most important years in BOOM! history, as we’ve become a Premiere Publisher at Diamond Distributors and continue to expand our commitment to original stories, as well as their presence in film, television, novels, and more. Adding the powerful voice of an acclaimed editor like Jeanine to our team in a senior role provides a unique opportunity to expand our company’s creative vision. Jeanine is one of the best in the business and her addition to BOOM! editorial further strengthens one of the most dynamic teams in comics.”

This new hire is the first of several changes in the company’s Editorial department and follows other recent key personnel moves for BOOM! Studios in a historic year which has seen the launch of acclaimed original new series like Abbott by Saladin Ahmed and Sami Kivelä in January; the top-selling Labyrinth: Coronation #1 by Si Spurrier and Daniel Bayliss, a prequel to the titular film in February; the first ever Power Rangers comic book event in March’s Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #25, which garnered worldwide media attention; and the announcement of seven prestigious Eisner Award nominations in April, highlighting series from all four of the company’s diverse imprints.

BOOM! Studios is pretty solid on the indie front, no clue what this hiring could mean for them. They have a couple sjw titles but at least they dont bleed into the ones that arent. Those problematic glasses tho, gonna have to watch out for what she will be handling.
