Half of their current output could be safely axed and nobody would give two shits because nobody is reading any of it - at least not legally.

Hell, I haven't even bothered downloading scans of anything from Marvel or DC in well over a year. I suppose that's one way to combat piracy: make your product so so shit people don't even want to steal it.

You can find readable stuff in current Marvel, but it's like trying to dig through a mountain of shit to find a few pieces of corn. Half of their current output could be safely axed and nobody would give two shits because nobody is reading any of it - at least not legally.

The recent thanos series was pretty good (and somewhat made up for him getting jobbed out it civil war2) but sadly it had to end because he's got to be turned into a generic villian to sell a movie tie in.

That’s why Marvel is dying, they doubled down on shit based on social media sentiment and didn’t realize they were alienating their core audience in the process. You know the people that actually buy comic books.
That's kind of the thing though: a lot of the reason Marvel (and the industry as a whole really) is in the current mess they're in is because the last time they did something anywhere near sales research, it told them that their market was dying well before they went full retard and started taking business advice from SJWs.

The core audience may consistently but comic books, but it's no secret that those guys are the same people who've been buying them for decades, and there's very few younger readers coming in to replace them. And it's not because there's no interest in the superheroes, or even comics as a medium - the success of MCU, manga, and to a certain extent webcomics has shown that. But between decades worth of continuity, the relegation of single issues to comic stores that can vary from town to town and potentially requiring long commutes to get to (if a smaller towns even have them at all), and the limited selection of trades with the more mainstream outlets like Barnes and Nobel, it's become a ticking time bomb that will inevitably lead to another crash unless there's a massive overhaul of the industry and how publishers operate.

The Big Two are well aware of this, have been for years, but they've gotten so comfortable with the current set up they have with the direct market taking the brunt of their flops meaning they only have to worry about tricking the shops into buying their stuff, that they'd rather chase short-term solutions that are ultimately a bandaid on a bullet wound than actually take a cold hard look at their business. It was how SJWs managed to get a foothold in the first place: when you got a bunch of wannabe comic journalists and indie hipsters saying they know the secret to getting a hot new diverse demographic that can help alleviate the pressure of your currently aging and slowly dwindling core demographic, and all they have to do is hire them and their hipster friends who are willing to work for pocket change and have them write glowing articles praising all the Donut Steels they've made to replace their old characters, of course Marvel is going to do that rather than do the difficult thing that requires actual work.

Edmonton comic book store links robbery to controversial debate

The co-owner of an Edmonton comic book store believes her shop was targeted by vandals after the store refused to stock a title by an author critical of what he calls “forced diversity” in comics.

Variant Edition in Edmonton’s west end announced in a tweet last week that it would not be stocking the upcoming book “Jawbreakers – Lost Souls” because it does not appeal to its demographic, adding that it “will not actively support creators who have promoted harm to friends, colleagues or strangers.”

The book’s author, Richard C. Meyer, is known for opposing what he calls “forced diversity” in comics.

Danica LeBlanc, the co-owner of Edmonton's Variant Edition comic book shop, believes a robbery at the store is linked to an online debate.

On Twitter and his YouTube channel, he has linked what he perceives to be the failures of the comic book industry with its attempts to hire and appeal to a more diverse group of people.

Variant Edition was attacked on social media after its announcement, with one user accusing it of being “motivated by spite, not high-minded principle” and another arguing that the shop should not be wading into political debates. Others lauded the shop’s “commitment to fostering an inclusive and engaging comics environment.”

Last Friday, the store was broken into and money was stolen from the register. Store co-owner Danica LeBlanc believes the robbery was linked to the online debate.

“I see it as a statement that ‘We can get to you,’” LeBlanc told CTV Edmonton. “For this to be a random attack at the same time we’re being harassed online, what else could it be?”

Antarctic Press, the book’s publisher, announced Friday that it too would not be releasing the title, saying that it believes that “there should be separation between ‘art’ and the ‘artist’” and that the separation has been blurred.

Meyer’s 112-page book, which raised more than $200,000 through online crowdfunding, is described as chronicling the attempts of a team of ex-superheroes “to save a ‘monster’ from a vicious warlord who wants to exploit it.” According to its Indiegogo page, the book is scheduled to ship August 2018.

Meyer responded to the controversy in a series of YouTube videos in which he characterizes the store’s decision to not stock the title as a “conspiracy,” a “pogrom” and a “witch hunt.”

In a tweet, he said that he would be filing a complaint on Monday with the Federal Trade Commission because he believes he is the victim of anti-competitive practices.

LeBlanc accused Meyer of being motivated by “destruction and aggression.” She said she is glad she took a stand.

“If we had, like most stores, just stayed quiet, nothing would have happened,” LeBlanc said. “However, I feel like this is a very bad precedent. Silence is never the answer.”

None of the allegations have been proven in court.

Gotta love how one sided it is.

What's the over/under on this being a tranny

So have these store owners actually gone to the police with this and filed a proper report for the robbery, or are they just crying on social media?

Considering they broke in and stole money, I'm betting on someone who wanted money.

I'd enjoy if we ever heard a story of someone robbing a comic shop only to discover they have no money. They then decide they're just going take the comics of certain characters they know from the MCU only to discover they aren't in print either and instead get offered some comics about a superhero with Downs. An absolutely bewildered look is promptly stuck on their face that continues even after the cops show up and the would-be robber's mugshot is taken.

Possibly burglary who is using the contraversy to deflect attention.

Considering they broke in and stole money
That's assuming that part is even true. The only evidence that this alleged incident happened are a few photos on a Twitter post where the smallest (cheapest) window is broken that also hilariously included a random unrelated 1 star review - no photos of a broken into register, or any damage or dishevledness to the inside of the store that would be associated with a break in for that matter.

And if there were a break in, even if they decided not to pursue the matter further would still require a police report for the sake of insurance. The only reason you wouldn't do that would be because doing so would mean committing insurance fraud and filing a false criminal report.

Remember when the pizza place that EVS visited got broken into right afterward, and every single one of these people all immediately said it was unrelated and some random area burglar, even though that was disproved? Kiwi Farms remembers.
