All 5 books have already been paid for out of pocket. There's no reason to do an Indiegogo and charge people even more money for something they could get right now for cheaper. They can get the paperback in hand in 2 days (people already got them), or they could get the ebook and read it instantly on any device.
There's no need to do a crowdfund, overcharge people, buy a bunch of shipping supplies, and make them wait months when there is absolutely no need to. If people want to support it, they can just buy it on Amazon. I haven't had one customer tell me "I WANNA BUY IT BUT I DON'T USE AMAZON." and even if they don't use Amazon, they can order it from ANY bookstore in the world.
And they've all been great.
Do you even understand what the name "loli" is derivative of? Bruh. It's an obvious connection. Why would anyone have any reason to like that kind of art, other than...
f doug
Hell yeah. And my next campaign is launching soon. ASYL begins shipping tomorrow. I just got in the trading cards yesterday, which was the very last thing I was waiting on!
You don't need to do a crowdfund but you should, especially for things you don't actually need the fund to pay for like books.
Even if you set the goal very low, your most loyal supporters will back the project even at a higher price and you can add stretch goals to add to the value.
Books from Amazon don't come signed and you could easily include a hand written note thanking your fans for their contribution. I've backed a few projects where the creator included a surprise or a hand written note, some several pages, thanking me for helping them.
The people who wrote letters? I try to buy all of their work. Even if you just have a conversation with them in twitter DM's or an email it goes a long way toward building a dedicated base and goodwill. It's worth the time you take even if instead of writing 3k words a day you spend a day writing those words to your backers.
Some people even run discord servers or group chats for their core group to talk about their work and answer questions. They give sneak previews and may even hide Easter eggs in books for individual fans.
Crowdfunds are also a great way to build a mailing list which you don't get from Amazon. Ideally you want everyone who likes your content to be in the loop and have multiple ways to reach out other than twitter.
Does the playbook work, though? There are still people who believe this bullshit. If so, Vikki and Dean are going to be seen as Leaders of a Harassment Campaign who have multiple sock puppet accounts and order gay ops and harassment, etc.
And for all I know, they are. I don't know those two individuals. I'm not sure what their agenda is, exactly.
I know what TUG wants. He wants to make a lot of money on the internet. That, at least, makes sense. What are Vikki and Dean after?
I know what TUG aka Matthew Lewis wants too, money for a junky mailbox, paypigbux for having a kid and lots...and I mean LOTS of dick pics from dudes.
