Your first comic isn't usually about money, usually you're just starting and trying to get your name out there. That was my plan with Stardust--I didn't think we'd hit $16,000, I was just praying for $3,000 or so just to get my name out there. A lot of first timers have that mindset. Sometimes you need to break even, or make no money, or go negative, before you begin to see money on future books.
Disagree. I've bought plenty of POD novels and comic books, and they look like regularly printed books from regular printers. POD is great. I guarantee if I sent you one of my novels or one of @TheCosmicWarrior 's comics POD, you couldn't tell the difference from a book on the stands at a bookstore.
But I do use KDP. I haven't had any of the issues in that link, and don't know anyone else who has.

Mitch fucked people by taking their money and putting the book on the back burner, Fernandez had a heart attack and took other work to pay his mortgage and he doesn't get a free pass. Kyle finished in September and never bothered to print and mail the book his backers were already waiting a year for. He sat on a completed book for 7 months.
Fuck Kyle if he can't be bothered to fulfill his obligations to his customers.
