Communists - That time when 100 million people died wasn't REAL communism, comrade

One stupid take after another if you look at this person's account. I'm also born to people who left China due to the revolution and after learning about my family history, I feel cheated out of what could've been.

I don't believe communism with present human nature is viable beyond one generation, because we aren't eusocial bugs who would gladly work to support the hive or queen.
Nor do I think feudal classism over money is any better. For all its flaws, capitalism seems to be the only economic structure that actually supports individual freedom.
I'm sure your grandparents are proud of you.

Should we troll her by saying Karl Marx is a cousin of the Rothschilds and Lenin got the support of rich bankers for his revolution? :cunningpepe:

The irony is that @Cosmos is one of the more left-leaning regulars on this forum and has actually called out the stupidity and insanity of the right-wingers on this forum multiple times, which I commend her for.

You also had Steve Meyers before he deleted his account. He used to be involved with Antifa and was still very left-leaning.

Plus, there's Ashy, but he's a woketard commie shitposter and I'm surprised that he even came here (assuming he's not just some elaborate troll persona)

There are definitely some liberals here but the fact we have threads like "Fascist and NatSoc Literature" being taken somewhat seriously shows that the accusations aren't that far off if they were just a bit less hysterical. I don't trust a communist's definition of fascism but I do trust them proclaiming it themselves.

I'm a Democratic Socialist who understands the historical failings of communism and thusly wants to combine ideas from socialism and democracy to enact a greater welfare state. I don't like tankies and and only in my wildest dreams do I actually think anarcho-communism can be achieved.

Unfortunately I committed a greater sin than being a commie...I said I didn't like Donald Trump (without then immediately saying But You Gotta Hand It To Him). Along with sending some users into frothing rage spirals from which they never recovered (Lol RIP Corb) it instantly made me infamous for the for the most boring reason imaginable.

I mostly come here to watch jaded anti-sjw centrists, boomer conservatives, MAGA bootlickers and edgy white nationalists mingle. I haven't seen many other leftists here but that's probably a combination of the nature of this site being a rightwing honeypot and me posting mostly in A&H.

Full-fledged socialism isn't really compatible with a liberal democracy because command economies need an authoritarian government to implement them, especially in the post-industrial era.

While a socialist regime could be democratically voted in, it would inevitably become authoritarian to implement its policies. Venezuela is a perfect example of this, and we're just now seeing everything fall apart because Maduro is nowhere near as charismatic as Chavez, and the resources started running out around the same time Maduro got into office.

Even before the rise of the modern globalist economy, every attempt at communism or state socialism has either ended in complete failure (Anarcho-Communists in the Spanish Civil War) or brutal dictatorship (Soviet Union, Maoist China, etc.)

Best you're going to get are social democracies like the Nordic countries where there is a strong welfare state, but the basic economy is still free-market capitalism, and the ideas of social democracy and "democratic socialism" are very different and not synonymous (this is a very common misconception in the United States)

The former is a common form of government in Europe, the other is an oxymoron at best and a disingenuous canard at worst.

There's no such thing as a free meal and that's a fact no matter how much we wish it was otherwise. Your idea of "free shit for everyone" is not possible unless you're in a "post-scarcity" world. Seeing as this is real life and not Star Trek, I'm pretty sure we're not in a post-scarcity society and likely never will be.

Even in a post-scarcity world, you'd still have to: Work, occasionally fix your robotic manservant, invent something useful every now and then, and live with the probability of overpopulation and a shortage of resources.

I mean I'm fine with just getting tax-funded socialized healthcare. Forgive me if I don't believe the US will go full MUH VUVUZUELA if we manage to implement something every other western country has managed to figure out.

Whenever I get into this argument with people I'm struck by how fragile they perceive the US to be. We're simultaneously the strongest, greatest country on earth but if we implement (one) policy we'll instantly become a communist dystopia. I guess because PragerU said so? I'm sure there's no ulterior motives behind that at all, nosiree.

Also I'm sure everything that has ever happened in Venezuela has happened in a vacuum. No shady shit done by the CIA or anything. The US definitely doesn't have a history of embarrassing coup attempts in South American countries, nope. And we definitely don't publicly back opposition leaders or enact trade policies that have wide-reaching affects on latin american economies.

I do agree that a lot of people get all freaked out over the idea of increased social investment, and part of that is because of how broken our welfare state currently is and how messed-up our laws are when compared to the welfare systems of other Western countries.

It doesn't help that the issue of welfare policy here in the United States became hyper-partisan and politicized in the post-WWII era, but is more of a bipartisan issue elsewhere. There's also a dual racial and class component to the welfare debate in the United States and both of our parties use it to shore up voting blocks along those lines, which is unfortunate to say the least.

Personally, I'm a centrist but I'm not opposed to some social democratic policies.

I'd be perfectly fine with a public option healthcare system where the poor get sufficient coverage, but those who can afford to opt out and buy higher-quality healthcare are allowed to do so.

I don't support an exclusively single-payer system in the United States simply because of how massive our country is (both geographically and in terms of population size) and because of how utterly corrupt and incompetent our current welfare state is.

However, our current healthcare system is just as fucked as an exclusively single-payer system is.

As long as they don't fuck with the First Amendment, Second Amendment, or try any "Green New Deal" vegan SJW dystopian bullshit, I'd be fine with a public option healthcare system.

I'm not a socialist but I do kind of get where you're coming from in that there's all manner of fascist stupidity on this site (especially A&H, but also elsewhere like in that "NatSoc literature" thread) which doesn't really make any sense given the site doesn't have an explicitly political focus. I personally put the blame on 4chan and its userbase, since there seems to be a fair bit of overlap. Any attempt to make threads on right wing lolcows like The Daily Stormer or Stonetoss usually has a lot of white knights. Even Carl Benjamin had quite a few initially arguing he wasn't a lolcow before he made an utter arse of himself.

Weirdly, the staff of the site seem to be a lot more politically balanced than the users. People like Feline Darkmage and Meowthkip are openly left of centre and I can't think of anyone far right on the staff other than Null himself.

Why not stay in r/stupidpol on reddit and those assholes keep complaining about right wingers and chapos in their sub. As for the honeypot meme, FBI has not broken down that door yet and I feel bad for the cucks in the 3 letter agencies that have to read this shit. Also they hiring as well right now last I checked.

Come on, the 1st works when someone won't stop airing their laundry in public. It's not that hard to figure out.

I honestly think too many of these socialists confuse "democratic socialism" with "Nordic model" which is ultimately based on free market capitalism.

Nordic model might work, if it was executed carefully and in the right order. Democratic socialism wouldn't work because it always has to happen through authoritarian hell, I'm pretty sure Karl Marx even said so.

Is the Stonetoss thread still even active? I know people were trying heavily to get the thread closed on "not a lolcow" grounds, but I think it had it's fair share of supporters as well (me included, when I went under Give Her The D). Stonetoss sucks Trump dick a little too much, to the point where the figurative HIV turns into full blown AIDS. Prime example on obsessions not being healthy.

The Stonetoss thread is still active. He's actually quite critical of Trump, his main issue is more buying into re-tarded conspiracy theories about the Holocaust and 9/11 and defending the People's Republic of China.

It's because this site has become a sanctuary site for certain groups who the rest of the internet tends to ban and shoo away due to wrongthink. Speaking of which, I can't help but notice how there's been sort of a surge in TERF users on this site ever since Megan Murphy got banned on twitter.
