A little late, but for all those who don't follow weeb news:
The author of "Oshiete! Gyruko-chan" - a manga about the Japanese equivalent of valley girls who put on far too much makeup - has been arrested for importing illicit material from Germany.
ドイツから児童の裸などが載った写真集を輸入したとして、愛知県警は20日までに、関税法違反の疑いで千葉県船橋市の漫画家鈴木健也容疑者(40)を逮捕した。

Translated:
"On December 20, Aichi Prefectural Police arrested Kenya Suzuki, 40, a cartoonist from Funabashi, Chiba Prefecture, on suspicion of violating customs laws for importing photo books containing naked children and other images from Germany."
What was particularly interesting about this is earlier last week he was reported missing. A now deleted tweet read:
"(@suzukikenya) has been out of contact since the evening of the 6th of this month, and his whereabouts are currently unknown. He is not at home, and we cannot contact him. His family has filed a missing persons report with the police. Do you know where Kenya is now?"
And it turned out he was in police custody the entire time.
We still don't know EXACTLY what kind of images he tried to import from Germany, just that they were illegal to import. And before you make any jokes - yes, CP is illegal in Japan. And no, "Gyruko-chan" the manga was not a loli manga, it was about a high schooler that looked quite old and (in what was the entire point of the manga, it being what they call "gap moe") acted quite innocent. It's always the ones you least expect.
