It seems that the unthinkable has happened and that Gator has escaped out from under Ralph's fat wing. It looks like Gator had Metokur on his anime podcast which caused Ralph to do what he does best: texting dozens of impotent threats all night like a jilted ex-lover and bitching on his site that is now practically his diary. Gator's response to this was to change his name to "Adrienne Blaire Won" and send Faith Vicker's $1 USD in order to be a better father figure to Xander than Ralph ever has.

All Ralph has left is Pantsu (and a baby on the way), a fate worse than death.

Should be more of a rule, if it's not thread worthwhile is it really worth posting in the community happenings? But also shouldn't link to outside sources from the community happenings.

Not only apply twice, but modify the stickers so agree or disagree are the only usable ones in this thread. Maybe new happening/non happening stickers? So posts don't get buried with political sperging stickers.

Good. He's incompetent and his staff are equally incompetent, so it's good for him to feel anguish for people's efforts to avoid paying to see him screw up so often.

He and his dipshit staff built a multi-petabyte NAS on a single server with a couple dozen hard disks in it, and set up the storage volume using ZFS raidz2. Then it died (because of course it did -- fucking idiot) and ate all their data. They then proceeded to replace it ... with the exact same setup. Look forward to his next video in a few months about how his new NAS fell over and ate his data again.

For those who care, ZFS is good stuff and raidz2 is a mode for it that can withstand two disk failures without data loss, but beyond a certain disk capacity RAID in general is unreliable because the likelihood of an additional disk failure happening during recovery from one failure is nearly 100% because of how long it takes to perform the recovery. And that likelihood stays high during recovery from two failed disks ... meaning a third disk is very likely to fail and you lose the volume and its contents. And using 12 huge disks in a single RAID volume is just begging for pain.

Dude should have built Ceph cluster.
