I think people are under appreciating how much the corona virus is gutting Hollywood. Common economic theory holds that Hollywood is, for the most part, recession proof. Whenever there’s a recession it’s been statistically proven that people will consume more media, and enjoy more movies to null the pains of a failing economy. The fact that they haven’t been able to film anything for half a year is going to cause major delays in the release cycles for the next few years. Industry professionals did not save and prepare for a recession like most other people do because they thought they were immune. Skilled trades men are switching to other professions because they physically can’t work right now, and they’re fleeing Hollywood to find new jobs in less restrictive areas. Even those who remain in the industry are leaving for more free states like Georgia and Virginia. Hollywood’s economy was built under the assumption that they’re independent of the American economy as a whole. That’s why you see so many actors/stars holding up the corona virus as an example of the end of the world, because, for them, this pretty much is the end of their world
