On the heels of Destiny breaking up and Keffals having major sadbrains, major commentary YouTuber Charlie (known as penguinz0 and/or moistcr1tikal) just announced his break up with his girlfriend. Link

Seasonal affective disorder is hitting commentary/drama YouTubers hard this year. Everybody start playing Elvis's "Blue Christmas".

The Game Awards featured a trailer for a new game by Hideo Kojima, who previously made the Metal Gear series and Death Stranding. The game features "Hunter Schafer", the transgender star of "Euphoria" who was recently featured on MATI, and is being made in collaboration with black horror movie producer Jordan Peele.

A bit of a shitshow has occurred on the Fediverse - first:
apparently a bot from an IP address tied to MIT was scanning across [the Fediverse].
mits.jpgmitt.jpgmitu.jpg

Then, users discovered that David Rand, the MIT researcher running the shitty bot, has a grant from George Soros's Open Society Foundation :story:

Rand responds, users aren't happy:

(plenty more examples of shitflinging shown here)

Guest appearance from DropKiwiFarms lolcow Kevin Karhan, suggesting people sue MIT :story:

Rand clarifies the issue was with a link unshortening script, and that the study is about news sharing and "toxic language" on fedi

Nick Rekieta had his Jack Murphy moment last night on his show with Dick Masterson as a guest in response to a super chatter who said they were a fan for years but were unsubscribing over the Eric July drama.

He ranted for nearly 15 minutes telling the super chatter: "You're going to unsubscribe? Good! FUCK OFF! I DON'T CARE!", later adding, "If you're gonna leave, if I'm gonna lose subscribers, PLEASE JUST GO AND GET IT OVER WITH. I am so tired of the bleed. Rip the band-aid off and get the fuck out."

EDIT:
A a stunning admission, Nick also came clean with the real reason he shakes all the time nowadays.

It is NOT drinking. It isn't what you might expect!

Video game The Day Before, once the most wishlisted game on Steam, finally released yesterday..... and is already the 3rd worst reviewed game, ever, on Steam.

It had a long and troubled road to release that included such highlights as being delayed for a year (and just a week before it was due to launch no less) to switch from Unreal Engine 4 to 5, and once being taken down from Steam entirely due to a trademark issue (turns out they didn't even have the rights to the name The Day Before).

However the real kicker is the entire thing has turned out to be an enormous bait and switch. The game was originally billed as an MMO open world survival zombie looter shooter, and instead is basically a small scale extraction game ala Tarkov. The devs responded to the inevitable, and well deserved, backlash by locking down their Discord/social media and are now seemingly trying to hide the fact it was ever billed as an MMO, going so far as to delete videos and even edit the tags on Steam:

Omocat is going through some controversy (post) after a twitter user named "@animegirlcrimes" posted about exposing OMO. In specifics (this is long), she was heavily working on Omori because she was dreaming about becoming a game developer & getting paid for it. Then 6 months later, she crashed & burned but OMO (the main developer) got pissed at her, insulted, took back royalties for pay, etc, I'll just show you the thread (archive).

The proof provided, showed discord screenshots. In this, it showed that OMO was not going to pay royalties at all.

OMOCat did in fact respond (archive), people were blasting OMOcat for calling "overtime pay" royalties, not paying the worker at all, and for being greedy overall.

and other team members still are collecting their thoughts about the situation. tweets 1 / 2 / 3 (post showing it)
