In 2023, he initially ignored reports that his furry best friend was sexually soliciting multiple minors in his Discord server. The minor being groomed had to convince him to introduce a rule banning adults flirting from minors. Timmy the Otter originally wanted flirting between adults and minors to continue.

Their real identity has been uncovered as Joshua Z Gilhespy, a British immigrant to the USA and Purdue University teacher's aide who ran away from home at 18 years old to live with a gay man who had been grooming him online since he was 15 years old.
