That action led to the group being proscribed as a terrorist organization and banned in the UK. This led to continued protests and arrests in mid-July. At an August rally, there were over 460 people arrested. At an early September rally, there were more than 2500 officers on hand to arrest more than 425 people. At the protest on Trafalgar Square yesterday, police arrested around 500 people. Two days prior to that rally, terrorist Jihad al-Shamie attacked the Heaton Park synagogue in Manchester on Yom Kippur. The UK government requested that the Saturday rally for Palestine Action not take place and the organizers refused. So that's a quick overview of the situation and how things led up to this point.
