I'm very in the middle on this and mostly just want more detail before anything else,
Same. If you want to make your divorce public, you should not be vague posting on twitter. At the most the former husband/wife should put out a joint statement that they are separating, its being worked on, and they ask that everyone respect their privacy at this sensitive moment while they both do what is most beneficial for themselves and their CHILDREN.
Lets not forget, Dankula and his ex-wifes relationship is not over. They have kids. They will be dealing with each other for the rest of their lives. Even if/after they find new partners. This little facet of divorce is studiously ignored on the subject. It is also, incidentally, why the pendulem has swung really hard in the opposite direction at least as far as Family Law in the USA is concerned. Its taken decades, but the data on single mothers with full custody has come in and its very persuasive. Most States in the USA now lean hard for 50/50 joint physical and legal custody. Especially if one of the parties demands it. And if that is unfeasible for whatever reason, then some other break down. But in a 50/50 situation, there is no child support payments. At most one parent will be responsible for providing a health insurance plan for the kid, and other parent will pay for half of that.
As for Alimony, Its important to remember that its for a wife and is separate from child support. Nowadays, Alimony is only a consideration if the wife was Stay At Home for an extended period with no job or career. It is also dependent on the wife STAYING at home with no job, career, and most importantly, no new husband. Getting a job, getting a new man, etc, are all grounds for ending alimony these days under the principle of changed economic circumstances. Oddly enough, the snake of Feminism has turned and bitten the people who ruthlessly took advantage of it.
In the USA anyway. I can't speak for what the UK is up too as I have no idea.
