Skins are the worst thing about CS. I'm kind of happy this has happened just because it might make people think twice before spending their money on cosmetics, but it's not going to kill off trading or anything so whatever. It's just pointless suffering.

Doesn't Valve have an economist on payroll to advise on stuff like this?

I seriously hope some people an hero over this, it will be better for the gene pool anyway. CS:GO was full of scammers, unregulated markets and gambling... it was FUN! It was essentially a larp crypto were you can scam, gamble and do what ever fraud scheme you can think of and get away with it... because it's was kids and young adults just larping with fake shit, so not financial crimes was committed and Valve turned a blind eye because they made shit loads of money from it. After retarded parents who gave their kids too much money and regulators came in, it started to suck, then CS2 roled out and removed game content too. CS was truelly an free market experiment and a fun game. I see the CS:GO skin market as really good warm up for the real thing later in life and I'm sad that it's becoming more neutered.

Normies/redditors can suck start a shotgun, they are the reason for why this happened in the first place. Valve has made so many changes to please these dumb regulators because a majority of these millennial parents are lazy parents and impulsive retards that can't handle IRL finances.

I still remember trying out GO during the beta and all of my friends list going 'fuck this' and going back to Source, with our local-only skins you could just copy into the folder. Cosmetics for cash have and always will be gay. The only acceptable one was the veteran or 'got what I paid for' / 'fell for it again' award coin.

key prices in TF2 dropped as well, i'm pretty sure people are trying to off load their TF2 valuables so they can hoard red CS weapons while it's still lucrative.

i never got into CS skin trading (tried CS:GO once but instantly went back to muh CS:S zombie escape maps) but i've spent an ungodly amount of time merchanting hats and unusuals around 2010-2012 and i would be pretty peeved if i spent all that time loitering around on trade servers like an absolute autist with nothing to show for it.

There was the one time where someone tried to kill MiHoYo's CEO because of an update in one of the Honkai games, but I'm not sure if any of those crazed Chinese or Russians would be able to get to him.

Also, was this change made in an attempt to get less heat from the EU because of their anti-loot box laws in some countries?
 
I’m glad it ended like this, the lengths people went in botting and hoarding these items has always been insane.
I recall a decade ago I got lucky and got gloves the first month they were introduced, all I did was dance, immediately sell it for 115 dollars and bought a bunch of payday 2 DLC. I proceeded to go back to not caring about crates.
How do you explain this to anyone in your life? That your road to your 401K is stockpiling digital video game skins you don’t physically own?

As for the Chinese suicides, I’m not even that surprised, there’s a lot of disturbing youth trends going on over there.
