Alaska is awash with mosquitos during the summer even above the arctic circle, and they are way bigger than the ones in the lower 48 to boot. The same is true for ticks.
Yeah, wasn't it a plot point in certain histories of the settlement of Alaska that the midges would drive people absolutely mad during the summer months, and render sections of the state de-facto uninhabitable?
Don't want to wear a mask? Fine.
Don't want to get the vaccine? Fine.
But it *wasn't* "fine". People were threatened with the loss of their livelihoods, bank accounts, citizenship, and freedom of movement. People I knew were thrown out of their profession and had their licenses revoked for *speaking on the subject of their expertise*. Others were dishonorably discharged and treated as felons. Fanatics openly fantasized about locking us in concentration camps, and in Australia, they
ACTUALLY FUCKING DID THAT.
I took your shitty poison, against my will, knowing full well at the time that it was a ~0.5% russian roulette roll for fatal heart attacks and strokes, because otherwise I would have been blacklisted from my profession and have become a burden on my family just as society decided to jump off a cliff. For those of you who managed to avoid it, I'm glad for you.
No it's not fine. We just found out who goes NAZI, and it turns out it's the same people who used that manipulative bit of propaganda to browbeat the people they didn't like.
I lost one other person to the actual disease itself. It's surreal seeing the fanatics trying to raise Anthony "I am the science" Fauci up as some kind of cult figure, when
he was one of the parties responsible for commissioning the creation of the virus!

I remember saying to some friends when the "two weeks to flatten the curve" phrase first came out that the sort of powers that these people were seeking would NEVER be given up willingly. That there would always be an excuse to keep that power and control, and that we would have to literally rebel to return from what they would try to do to us. That we were about to see the implementation of the Milgram experiment on a grand scale. They thought I was being paranoid: "Can you at least do this much out of civic duty? It isn't that much to ask."
