The small void we adopted last year has turned into a fat belly demanding nigger (she's still a sweetheart just annoying) We've been walking the Void because she was previously an outdoor cat and she'd cry when we take out small terror (dog) for his ball time.

Void has been really good on the lead i trained her up to wear her harness with no problems. However she is demanding pushy nigger ( i love her) . I bought the good quality feather cat toys ,so now if she doesn't go for her daily walk in the back garden she'll get on top of the fridge to pull the cat toy off the fridge and take it through the dog flap or be naughty to get what she wants like a fat she-boon.

We've come home numerous times to find all the cat toys taken through the dog flap and randomly left in the laundry or on the stairs to be tripped over. She's very much comfortable in her home now, she adores small terror (dog) and regularly cuddles up with him on the bed or gets under the blankets to cuddle all night *sigh*

After losing small orange to liver failure:'(,i kinda miss the low maintenance cat. Don't get me wrong i love that the fat void, loves cuddles but she is really a huge fucking demanding nigger.

Sometimes i just wish she was a little less intense. We've considered getting her a playmate of similar needs to stimulate her but i don't think i could handle another cat that needy, as chill as she is, she is really chill you can paddle her arse or annoy her to incredible lengths and she doesn't give a shit but she's showing her personality now and it's full on pavement ape sometimes..

I love hanging out with my chickens. Most are pretty skittish and will just barely tolerate me or curiously hover around while I'm with them. One is friendly and is basically a cat that will jump on my lap for attention. I managed to get a video of her purring (yep, they purr/trill too) while getting neck rubs, and I think I'll play that back whenever I want something to make me feel better.

I only have one chicken that let’s us hold her but she’s so sweet and always makes me feel better too. IMG_6818.jpeg
 
Our Siamese mix girl, now 14 years old, had to go to the kitty kat torture chamber today. The cold thermometer up the butt was the first round of kktc activity. She's been making eye watering, long lasting stench shit bombs in the litter. Looks like enteritis so that's what her treatment is for. Special bland food, antibiotics and probiotics and a little humpback of fluid at the vet. She's so mad because she's a greedy little miss who demands food every couple hours but we're under feeding schedules for healing that I do not want to deviate from.

One concern for me is that she's lost almost 2 lbs from June, going from 9.3 to 7.4. She has cardiomyopathy and takes benazapil and atenolol for it. She's always had a heart murmur but the cardiomyopathy is only about 2-3 years duration. I hope the weight loss is from gut issues and not cancer or some kind of systemic disease.

Anyway, she is so annoying begging for food but I have to feel bad for her being limited to half a can twice a day for the next 4 days. Over forty years of cat companionship but it never gets easier to see a kitty in decline.

Miri the cat has not eaten yet today and wants to be outside by the extra large natural litter box. She was rapidly breathing earlier, concerned about that. We put a heating pad under a blanket in the bottom half of a cat box and she's sleeping in it right off the front porch but still under a roof. We're not close to the street and in fact our front porch is blocked from view by an incline; it's about as safe for a cat outdoors as possible and we monitor her every 30 minutes to an hour.

Our instructions are to call the vet again if she doesn't eat the bland food, doesn't eat for 24 hrs, vomits 2x or more in 24 hrs but regardless I'll have her in as soon as we feel she's in need of more attention. I'm expecting a delivery today that I hope I get a text alert so I can meet the driver by the street so she's not pestered unnecessarily.

Man, that sucks. It's the uncertainty of it all that I hate the most in senior cats. I hope she recovers or gives you a clear sign soon. I know she's getting the best care and love possible. :feels:

Our little cow kitty gave us a scare today. We had an hvac guy over for regular maintenance and neither he nor my husband made sure the door was closed after the guy came in. It'd only been open for a few minutes and our cats never go outside, but it doesn't take long for a curious kitty to decide to go exploring. We walked around outside, looked in all the places he normally goes in, shook treats (which his sister loved). Nothing. Until about five minutes after the tech left. I guess he didn't like a stranger in the house.

This is the little shit in question. It's fall, even if the temps haven't dropped yet, so they actually use the Self-hosting warming mats again.

I forgot we have a couple of these, got one and put it in the top half of the kitty crate for inside use.

I do not at all like the way she is breathing in quick, short, choppy breaths. Still hasn't eaten.

Yeah, that's probably not a good sign. My Boo was doing that a couple weeks before we had to say goodbye. I'm so sorry.

Here she is, or rather was, has moved into garage just now. I'll offer her some food when she comes up and see what she does.

Bloodwork and physical exam leaned towards some sort of gastrointestinal cancer and she was offered a chance of improvement from a steroid injection. That to us meant just kicking the issue down the road for a probably very short time until she crashed yet again. We decided that it was time for her to rest.

It just sucks. It's criminal. I hate it.

I'm so sorry to hear that, you probably made the right call though. My fat orange had a tumor growing in his intestines it burst and he was dying from it and the blood poisoning. It took him a day to show how sick he was, i wish i put him down that day but he had a few more days of urgent testing to find out what was wrong with him.

He was on pain meds but fucking hell i wish i just put him out of his misery that day, a horrible way to go.
 
Introducing New Kitty! He's about nine years old and used to live with my friend in a household with three pit bulls, and before that a old woman with dementia.

He's very much used to being alone, overshadowed by big, loud dogs. We have two cats, and I was wondering how he'd adjust to them, but he's doing fine. I've had him about two weeks now, last night was the first time he was not locked in a separate room (with a metal mesh door so he can see/smell/hear the other cats) overnight. Still some mild hissing, mostly from him, but no drama. That will just take time to work itself out.

He's still happiest by himself, but we both give him attention several times a day, and hopefully with time he will learn to be a little more social.

The old lady he lived with was so forgetful that he would get fed any time he asked for food, so two years ago he was very overweight. He's 14.5 pounds today, he looks pretty proportional but we're going to take him to the vet next week or so for a checkup and see how much he should weigh.

He's sweet, but a bit spicy. He bit the old woman a couple times when she didn't understand his body language or forgot that she had just bothered him. That was one of the reasons my friend knew her mom couldn't live on her own. He never bit my friend, but he did get my husband with his claws when he was stressed.

He's not the cat I wanted after losing my sweet boy a few months ago. I wanted a cuddly cat, but I didn't like this cat living with those dogs and the chaos either. I still love him and hopefully he'll come out of his shell in time. Even if he doesn't, it's nice to have three cats in the house again.

He's got stripes and spots! He's a loud purrer and does like attention.

He's gonna be his own kind of snuggler soon enough trust me ! He's also so beautiful !

The void has started grooming the dog, much to his displeasure she now likes to climb in bed with us and starts purring under the quilt or sheet. She'll snuggle up to the dog and follows him around like a love sick puppy. I think it might be time to get another cat her energy so she has a friend to play with, not sure yet.

The dog has decided to get into something and his eye lid is swollen and weepy, poor little bugger it might be a vet trip tomorrow to get it checked... yaaay *sigh*

We lost our baby Maxwell two weeks ago. We knew it was coming since September when they found the inoperable tumour. I miss her so much. She's been my buddy since 2009. The decision to euthanise her was harrowing, but she was ready. I stayed up with her til 3 am the night before, I already knew we were going to have to make the call in the morning so I just wanted to stay with her and tell her I love her more than anything.

All these pics were taken after her diagnosis and you can see most of the time she had to sit with her front half raised just to be comfortable. This was even with steroid injections and gabapentin.

This is what we sign up for when we adopt an animal. The pain of helping them at the end and having to decide when to let them go.

People thought I was morbid when I got a second cat in part for succession planning but I am so glad we did. The house feels empty, but less empty than it would have done without the fuzzy ball of insanity that is my other cat.
 
Man, cats are something else.

My female cat and new cat, Carter, are not getting along. Carter and my male cat pretty much get along, although my original one still gets a puffy tail if Carter surprises him, but no hissing or intimidating.

J and Carter though. Carter has started spraying on things. J lurks in a tunnel and lunges at Carter as he walks by - then she screams holy hell when Carter doesn't like it. He tries to come into the bedroom, and intimidates J into fleeing under the bed, who then also screams holy he'll because she doesn't like it. Or they look at each other for a couple seconds and walk away peacefully.

We put Carter in his own room at night, which has helped a lot. We separate them when J starts yelling, until they calm down.

We give them all treats near each other every day and that always goes well, they look at each other and go right back to eating and walk away when done.

I ordered some pheromone diffusers tonight and I hope that helps. Carter is still so much happier here than his previous home, he's socializing with us, playing by himself and with us, moving around the house all day. At his old place he'd sleep in the kitchen and go outside in the evening, and that's it. So I don't want to give up on him and give him back to my friend. But I don't want to keep J stressed. And I REALLY don't want him going around spraying everything and making my house smell!

He also has a tendency to bite and scratch. He hasn't broken the skin in a couple years now, but it's always sudden and we don't know if he's telling us to stop or mad because we did. I am pretty sure he wasn't socialized well as a kitten, and spent most of his nine years living with a woman who ended up having dementia, so he wasn't in a good place to learn proper behavior. He doesn't do that with the other cats, just us. If he was attacking the other cats physically, he'd be out of here. I know that issue can be solved with consistent behavior management and time, but ouch.

I love him, but he's the most difficult cat I've ever had. I'm trying to be patient and reward good behavior and do things right, the internet says it can take months to get them to get along - or avoid each other - but it's hard right now to know if this is going to work out, or if I should give him back to my friend.

I miss my snuggly old man.
