Creationists - Jack Chick, Kent Hovind, etc.

I'm surprised they haven't gone after the Disgaea series. Most of the protagonists in that series are essentially pseudo-gods of the netherworld.

Hell in Disgaea 4...

Valvatorez practically gives God the middle finger

Also, one of the characters was an angel that was supposedly "influenced" by demons. :P

A series like SMT is probably like the King in Yellow to them though, so even if they did find out about it they would dehydrate from foaming at the mouth before they could tell anyone else.

YES! That's exactly how they would behave! If only the series was more well-known by the general populus (and Disgaea!)

Wouldn't it be hilarious if these people discovered Shin Megami Tensei?
They would suffer a heart-attack if they discovered the Shin Megami Tensei games. In they would suffer one particularly with Nocturne and the Digital Devil Saga games since you become a demon, they would also suffer the mother of all heart-attacks with Megami Tensei and Shin Megami Tensei 2 since the final boss is God.

Goddammit!

I just realized that I've seen Hovind in person before. I grew up close to Pensacola, and he actually came to our school and gave a lecture on young earth "theory" and evolution. A lot of places in the Florida panhandle are pretty conservative, so I guess he was able to sway the school administration to come and let him speak. Our biology teacher was furious after Hovind left. My parents were also pissed that I'd been made to attend a lecture on creationism, and called the school to complain. And just for the record, my mother's the most religious person I know. She's the music director at her church.

For years, I'd just kinda tried to forget about it, but yeah, after seeing that picture on Rationalwiki . . . it's him, all right. Fucking Hovind.

So trying to process this, I can only assume the biology teacher didn't like Hovind nor did your parents like you attending his lecture, especially since your mother is a religious person. I only ask since you mentioned Florida being pretty conservative and as far as I remember, the science books used in my old Christian private school were from Pensacola.

Oh, my mother is relious, but she's also a realist and a historian. I came home and told them about what happened at school, and she sat me down and had a long talk to me about allegory, primary resources, secondary resources, and how all intellectuals worth their salt--anthropologists, archeologists, biologists, chemists, linguists, sociologists, geologists, and physicists--agree that a young earth isn't just impossible, it's idiotic.

My biology teacher was furious because he started getting a lot of questions from a lot of kids that had no basis in true science, and it set him back at least a full day getting us straightened back out.

I have actually been to Hovinds "museum" I have some pics.

I've been to Answer in Genesis's creation museum :stupid: that was six years ago this month, I started questioning YEC in January 2008

We need to get that fossilized :pickle: and send it to Chris :pickle: :pickle:

I don't know why people from academia like anthropology haven't condemned this "museum" yet. That masouleum is a total insult to the academic community.

Perhaps they want it to stay so they could point and laugh at it, especially since the idiocy can make people laugh such as the fossilized pickle.

As far as I know, it was shut down after Mr. Hovind got busted for tax evasion. And yes, serious acadimics and any one with two brain cells thinks creationism is a joke.

I'm sorry, that pickle cracks me up, especially in the context of these forums :pickle: :pickle: :pickle: :pickle: :pickle: :pickle: :pickle:

So Hovind has been busted for evading taxes? When did that happen?I may as well be an idiot since I believe in creationism. At least I don't sperg about evolution being wrong unlike my early teenage years.

Out of curiosity, how do you explain dinosaurs? I've always been curious.
