Creationists - Jack Chick, Kent Hovind, etc.

From Kindergarten to 8th Grade I went to a Catholic school and we learned evolution in science class with no problems or fuss at all. It's funny that public schools in some places don't want to teach it. I am from a wealthy, snobby northeastern U.S. town though.

JACK THOMAS CHICK
This thread is about one of the most repugnant human beings alive, Jack T. Chick. If you live in the English speaking world, you've probably come across one of these pieces of shit. Little black and white "Chick Tracts" that evangelists buy in bulk and either hand out or leave in public spaces for free. They're designed to lead you to Jack Chick's very specific version of Christianity, where if you aren't a born-again Biblical Literalist King James Only Protestant, you are going straight to hell.
"How does this make him a lolcow?" I hear you say. Well, just take a really close look at these fucking comics. Actually read a few, and you'll agree with me, the man is an insane lolcow. Why? Well, there are a few common themes in his artwork, which suggest that he's not such a good Christian after all. Let's take a look at some of them:
  1. Fuck Catholics! Catholics are Jack Chick's favorite bogeyman. Even though his assortment of anti-Catholic tracts isn't THAT disproportionate to the tracts where he shits on other religions, Catholicism seems to be his favorite bogeyman, since it makes it into a lot of unrelated comics, like this one.
    • Jack Chick also publishes the stories of Alberto Rivera, a man who claims to be an ex Jesuit who was forced to infiltrate and destroy protestant institutions before conveniently deciding that Jack Chick's version of Christianity was correct. Rivera's fabricated exploits are the subject of a number of full length and full color comics by Chick Comics. Christianity Today (an Evangelical magazine) claims that this is false.

  2. Racism! Read this book description, And learn why we need to be worried about "white witchcraft". But even worse, Jack Chick thinks that blacks are dumb, and need special comics to pander to their level of understanding. This is called the "Black Tracts" series. Worst of all, most of these tracts are categorized as part of the "Basic Gospel" subject on his website. Because those poor blacks can't understand anything else.
  3. Bad Art! The art that Jack Chick himself draws is quite bad. Most of the "good" art that you've seen is the art of the uncredited Fred Carter, who Chick probably doesn't think deserves recognition because he's black.

  4. Gay Subtext! These tracts and images speak for themselves.

I should note that for most of these examples, I didn't even seek out the most heinous cases, I simply found them while going through the Black Tracts series. There are undoubtedly way worse ones out there.

Oh, and as a final aside, Jack Chick's little tracts bear more than a passing resemblance to Tijuana bibles. Given his extreme age (91), he's probably quite familiar with them, and his art style suggests that he's quite familiar indeed.

The best place for more Jack Chick hilarity is on his own website, http://www.chick.com/

The thing is, his comics get increasingly insane. For example, he has an entire full color comic series about Alberto Rivera, a man who claims to have been a Jesuit priest who was ordered to infiltrate and destroy Protestant organizations.

And if you criticize him loudly enough, you can probably get a shout out in his newsletter.

Fun fact these are banned in Canada as hate literature.
Also I'm pretty damn sure Christianity branched off from Catholicism after some dude thought some of it's practices didn't make sense such as confession even though God apparently knows everything that will ever happen so technically he's making you do bad stuff and then telling you to apologize
EDIT: Also he made books for the kiddies to scare the word of GodJesus into their hearts by saying they'll go to hell if they don't accept Jeebus
EDITEDIT: Shit dude I found it http://www.chick.com/catalog/tractbykeyword.asp?subject=Little children
Scare the love of Jesus into em! That's the old fashioned way.
Also for reason he like "remixed" chick tracts for black people because they would never identify with white people and I guess there is a shortage for black people in heaven or something.

In the area where I go to do theater, there's a group of about 5-6 people who have been putting Chick Tracks on people's windshields for *years*. It'd be cool to read for a laugh, but all of them that I've seen have been in Spanish.
Never fear, the OP conveniently links to the website, so you can read them in the language good enough for Jesus Christ.

I recommend "Dark Dungeons", it is by far the most... popular.

It's not a thread specifically for Jack Chick, though. Kent Hovind is definitely a lolcow, but his kind of foolishness is different from Jack Chick's.

It's sort of like how there are threads dedicated to making fun of MLPers or Wizardchanners or whatever but if someone in those communities is particularly lulzy or notable enough, they their own thread. And Jack Chick could definitely support his own thread. This guy's beliefs are astonishingly fucked-up even accounting for the dumbass fundie factor.

Christina books, comics and movies all take place in a world where Christianity isn't one of the worlds most prominent religions. I'm always surprised to see the weird stereotype of everybody who is not a christian never hearing of Christianity or them being surprised by it.

We're not actually sure if there is a Jack Chick. There are several artists who work on these comics. It might be a shared penname, or Jack Chick might be fucking dead because the man who was "Jack Chick", (again, not sure if it was actually him or one of the people under the penname) would be like fucking 90 something right now.

There have also been some pulled tracts that were not well received, offensive, or the writers have changed their minds on their viewpoint.
