One Unsolved Mysteries case is the Michael Hughs case because there was a lot of stuff that you could tell they didn't have time to address in it though a lot of it has been solved.

I mentioned that case a while ago and it speaks for itself for being so fucked up. Floyd probably killed him like he did his stepdaughter-wife when his sick Lolita fantasies were all for naught.

Who leaves the kids unoccupied whilst you go out to dinner?
It used to be a very common thing to do. If your of a certain age your parents did it to you too.

Putting the kids to bed and popping out for a few drinks a short walk away when on holiday isn’t something that no one has heard of, only autistic people on the internet who don’t go outside can’t see why they’d do this.

The world was different even back then. We didn’t realise there were weird paedophiles everywhere. That shit was buried and not reported on.

Would I do it? Fuck no, not with what I know about the world. But twenty up years ago who knows?

Police are searching around yet again for Madeline McCann. What are everyone's theories about what happened to her? I always thought the parents had something to do with it. Who leaves the kids unoccupied whilst you go out to dinner?
I would love to know what the people thinking it's her parents think they did with her body. Because the one single reason I don't believe it's them is that the timeline doesn't add up seeing how they still haven't found her and the parents were followed by journalists and whatnot in the days and months after the disappearance, there's simply no way that they could have hidden her well enough for her not to have been found by now.

Hell there's endless bodycam videos on youtube right now of "urban" parents leaving their multiple super young children in various places for hours

Here's one that always creeped me out: The Wild Deserters of World War 1. I dunno, parts are semi-plausible.
Semi related would be the civilians living in the shell holes of during the Battle of Stalingrad. Or the hell that was the Siege of Leningrad.
I read somewhere about more or less feral children living as the wildmen of no-man's land. Coming out at night to scavenge among the ruins and disappear into the rubble come day light. I mean if you're an orphaned kid living in a warzone what else are you gonna do?
I wonder if there was a program of reintegration post war. Or if some excuse was found to ship them off to Siberia.
I'm sure there are Russian sources regarding the feral war orphans, I had no luck finding detailed info in English. If anyone has info that would be cool.

The true crime case that always got me was Mr Cruel, a serial rapist, home invader and later child murderer who operated in Melbourne during the 1980s and 1990s. There are four "canonical" attacks on children ascribed to him from 1987-1991 (after which he went cold), but he is a suspect in the rapes and abductions of up to a dozen women and girls in Melbourne at that time, and is probably one of the most demonic sexual offenders I have ever had the misfortune of hearing about, second only to Junko Furuta's murderers.

Even though he's still unidentified he had a specific MO that helps narrow down which attacks he committed; he would monitor his victims for some time, enter their home and subdue anyone else inside, abduct the victim (in his earlier attacks he raped the girl inside her home before leaving) and bring her to his home before releasing her after a specified time he would tell his victims. He always wore a balaclava (the sketches of which are nightmare fuel), stole miscellaneous personal property from the home (usually clothes), cut power lines to and from the home and would generally misdirect the victims in some way, such as pretending to talk to someone else in their presence. His canonical victims were all between 10-13 years old. One of them, ten year old Sharon Wills, saw that he was filming her rape during a brief moment when he was away from her (he blindfolded all the victims he abducted). He was extremely paranoid about being identified and would wash his victims in a tub and force them to brush their teeth after attacking them. He had particular "catchphrases" as well, the most repeated one being "My liberty is more important than your life".

His last victim, 13 year old Karmein Chan, was the only one of his victims to be murdered by him. We still don't know why he killed her in particular, and afterwards he never struck again as far as the police knew. She was abducted in 1991, and her remains were found a year later in a ditch. She had been shot execution style.

It's possible Mr Cruel is still alive as he was estimated to be anywhere from his late teens to mid thirties during the attacks - he was described as having a slight pot belly and body hair but his voice was quite young. In the event that he's still alive the police believe he's an avid pornography user (especially of CP), may be engaged in trading it and may even interact with children over the Internet. There was some misinformation that he may be a school teacher as the canonical attacks occurred during school holidays but this was debunked by Melbourne Marvels.

If you guys want to know more about this case I would recommend the Melbourne Marvels podcast and website and the "Who is Mr Cruel" wordpress blog. This website also has a lot of good material on Karmein Chan's abduction in particular: https://thecruelsong.com/2024/08/01/who-was-karmein-chan/#canon-attacks

I do hope that this case is solved one day; the arrest of a suspect in the Australian Easey Street murders in the 1970s and that there might be advances in the Madeleine McCann case stop me from becoming doompilled every time I think of this case.

The true crime case that always got me was Mr Cruel,
That one weirds me out. I’ve always thought that when someone like that just stops he’s dead or in prison.

I doubt you just give up stalking and raping children after realising you’d made four mistakes previously.

Sorry for being vulgar about this case, but this monster will have had the best orgasms of his life doing this and would have only continued to escalate if not stopped by jail or his own grave.

I agree with you - it's also possible he moved away from Australia to a country where his crimes would be less high risk. I also think it's possible that killing Karmein might have spooked him, as it was a massive change in his MO and spoke to something going "wrong". From what we can gather of his personality he was a major control freak and paranoiac, and I don't necessarily believe that he intended to kill Karmein when he initially abducted her. He also nearly got into a car crash when transporting one of his victims (I believe in was Nicola Lynas) and might have thought that the juice wasn't worth the squeeze and that he would get caught eventually. He might be "sustaining" himself in some way through sex tourism and Internet CP. Before it was shuttered in 1993 the task force dedicated to this case identified seven men to monitor in case of another abduction. From what has been released one was an "erotic" photographer with an interest in young girls, and another (Brian Elkner) has been identified by name. Some of the suspects have died while others are still around, but none of them seem to have committed crimes after Karmein's death.

The I-71 killer.....apparently they think a 2001 liquor store murder might be linked to the killings and they have security cameras footage.

Blair Adams is another infamous case. He was from Canada and had fled to the states claiming someone was going to get him. He is seen acting erratically in hotel camera footage. He was found dead, nude from the waste down, dead from a blow to his stomach. There was foreign money and such strewn around his body too.

I want to know what happened with Kris Kremers and Lisanne Froon
The most common theory is that they got into some kind of accident and then succumbed to the elements, but it's still one of the creepiest cases I've come across and it pisses me off when people try to act like it's "obvious" what happened to them.

Were they the ones who had photos of video of themselves hiking or something and then were later found dead?

I've never seen anything that convinces me it was murder, or anything other the natural elements. It's similar to the Elisa Lam case, where she almost certainly died via misadventure, but people love to chalk it up to ghosts and the elevator game.

It's definitely disturbing (the pic of the one girl's hair is eerie).

All the chaos going on in the world here's an episode.
The Sharon Stevens case is particularly important. Extremely wholesome. Possibly one of the most wholesome lost love cases in the entire series. (Yes I know her overbite but considering the stuff she went through its understandable)

In that same episode there's Elizabeth Campbell who went missing and hasn't been seen again. One of the more eerie cases to me. At the same time it's more a matter of eyewitness accounts that are difficult (look at the Marlena Childress case) in terms of when there's like five different sightings of a person. Then it turns out they're dead/captive/etc and it is frustrating.
