Keep in mind I like the REmake a lot and have been defending it in the Resident Evil thread and think most guys doomposting on it are too anal but these are the kind of "tourists" we are dealing with here. Horror niggas losing their minds over a little action horror will always make my eyes roll. Survival horror wouldnt even let you shoot a gun or fight back frankly.

Based video, the remake was completely unnecessary and removed all the soul and charm from an absolutely kino game. Just wait for the honeymoon period to be over in a year or so and you'll see more people come out against the remake. In the meantime I think I'll be replaying the OG again.

Yes. I think they did the thing where they insisted on having the VA be the same race as the character, so they got some Chinese-Canadian lady who got roasted so much for her bad acting she nuked her social accounts and blamed white men or something. Also really doesn't make sense why they decided on it, considering Ada looked more white than Asian in the original game.

I like the original's ambience with sound. I think the cheesiness of RE4 helped its tone. I suppose it's personal preference.

I don't know about the console remake, but I've read glowing reviews of the VR RE4 adaption. I'd be interested to see an update on crowbcat's 2018-ish VR hangover video. It seems like the gaming side of that sector's taken off and found some success, metaverse bullshit aside.

The obvious worse changes are the sound design and having very little enemy damage location scripting. It's amazing how new games burn their entire budget on high end models and physics only to be frightened of actually animating shit or making sound sync to what's happening in the background.

I'm glad crowbcat exists to put some of my thoughts into video form. The remake is okay but it seemed pretty unnecessary. REmake was a good one and that recent remake of RE2 was also alright but I like the original anyway.

I don't really care if it's better or worse than the original since I can just play that but it is fascinating to see back-to-back the little things they changed, whole lot more than I caught in my first playthrough of the remake

I've been playing it and I'm really enjoying it. I replayed the original six months ago and so far I'd say that the games are roughly equal in quality but different in distinct ways that neither really usurps another. I like that it's much harder, RE4 is a fucking cakewalk, so I've been enjoying having a much tenser and more difficult time with familiar encounters.

It actually feels much closer to RE1 in design principles, in that it's mostly faithful but twisted in distinct ways to fuck with you.

All in all a great game so far. All the endless bitching about it not being wholly identical to the original seems pointless and nitpicky, to be honest.

The sound in the remake is excellent. The duo Garrador fight is fantastic with all the screams and heavy reverb. I don't understand the complaints.

I find it weirdly hilarious that you have all these butthurt fans coming out to shit on RE4 as just another action-oriented RE in the same vein as 5 and 6 whereas before these same faggots would have defended 4 as "ackshually it's not the same, it totally retains the horror survival elements". On one hand I'm kinda glad that people have finally stopped pretending like 4 wasn't basically exactly like 5 and 6, on the other hand the remake doesn't address any of that. It's still RE4 except with a shitload of content cut out. The only major addition that doesn't completely suck is Luis getting more of a role but even then classic Luis was way better that nu-Luis.

I noticed most of the shills are just kids with anime profiles who like to shill an opinion a Youtuber gave them i.e. The Act Man.

Also, I wished he gave the Dead Space Remake the same treatment as RE4 Remake.

People are already hyping Gmanshills for "debunking" some unconfirmed audio fuckery Crowbcat did.

The issue is and I really hate using this word is that people or resident evil 7 *tourists* overstate the survival horror aspects of Resident Evil and treat 4-6 as these blights on the franchise. Sure 1-3 had scary ambience and you were strapped on resources but once you get a grip on mechanics you can frankly fight back rather competently. Resident Evil 7 comes out and you have people saying "HORRRROR IS BACK BABY" ignoring the fact Ethan was revealed to have some crazy ass fungus powers where he can reattach his fucking hand back. So now these *tourists* think the older games are too campy and that Resident evil needs to be my hecking A24 slow burn horror game so capcom decides to lean more into that.

Capcom made a buch of exploitation type vidya back in the day. Street Fighter is a martial arts movie parody, Darkstalkers a horror parody, Star Gladiator goes with Star Wars, Viewtiful Joe and God Hand are film buff and wuxia parodies and so on and so forth. The only non-arcade game series that Capcom developed by the 2000s that weren't parodies was the Breath of Fire games and Okami (and something else I forfet at the moment) amd even they weren't the grimdark serious bullshit everyone seems to love nowadays. I don't know gaming is fucking dead and has been ever since failed film majors got into the medium.

Shameless double post, but I hate when companies cutout content for no reason or just to pander to people that don't and won't buy games. Like why cut out a good chunk of the content and the nice view of Ada's ass (Let's be honest. Most of the people playing this game are male and have zero problem with this scene or any scene with hot chicks on them) from the original? All it does is remind me the original exists and is better than the remake/enhanced edition, which shouldn't be the case. This is why the best RE remake was the first one: It added content to the game, updated the graphics, kept the mechanics similar enough and improved some necessary aspects where they could and overall added to the game rather than take away from it.
