Opposite of the "'Current Year' terms that piss you off" thread. What do you think is an improvement?

I like the fashion trend towards more business casual. I hate dress clothes. They're expensive, high-maintenance, and too fragile for my retard strength.

Pre-pandemic, I had to wear a dress shirt, dress shoes, slacks, and a tie. Now I just wear khakis and a rotation of company polos. I look more like a shooting instructor or a high school football coach than an office drone. I prefer function over form.

I don't blame Silicon Valley for working in t-shirts and jeans, or John Fetterman getting to wear a hoodie and cargo shorts in the Senate chamber. There's really no need for frumpy Patrick Bateman fashion anymore.

Working from home is a good thing. Why should people be chained to a cubicle for exactly 28,800 seconds every day? "Muh productivity" is horseshit. Either they're getting the necessary work done, or they aren't. Middle managers are just salty bitches that they can't Lumbergh their way around the office bitching out people who do actual work.

Agreed. Being able to do pretty much everything I need to do that needs to be done from home is a Godsend and one of the very few things I'm honestly glad that I'm living in now for.

I have gotten a lot of mileage out of the term “parasocial”, especially with heavy social media users in my family. It’s a helpful one to drop in conversations and a helpful term for people to be aware of.

Explaining what “AGP” is to a close friend also single-handedly changed the way they view trans identifying people. They were passively accepting as a matter of course but once they noticed the pattern it started to unsettle them.

A massive improvement over the past has been the almost complete elimination of smoking indoors.
I fucking hated going out to any club, pub or restaurant in the past because not only I would always smell like a fucking ashtray afterwards, I had to go outside every 10-15 minutes because I just felt like vomiting.

...and the grey snot the day after.

Computer software can do more than before.

(Ignoring crap like internet dependence, paid DLC, "identity politics", that "watered down smartphone feel", and more "shovelware".)
Current year even makes it possible for obsolete devices to do way more than they could originally. Enthusiast projects enabling wifi connections via modem emulation and stuff like that.

I've come to love working from home, I use to not like it so much, but then I upgraded my monitor to an ultra wide and my desk is a rising desk now and it makes a world of difference. Not only that, but my cats love it and I can do cooking and cleaning while I work and not have to worry about it when I get home and I'm tired. I feel sorry for the chumps who work for companies that are forcing people to go back to the office full time.

  1. Air Fryers - these seem to have just outright replaced conventional fryers, and I'm okay with that. They are superior.
  2. People finally being done with the woke shit and actively voicing out against it
  3. Freeze dried candy
  4. Funko-Pop and other associated merch dying a slow, landfilled death
  5. The rejection of the electric vehicle hype; I do think an alternative to oil is preferred, but not at the expense of the freedom a vehicle can provide by pushing electric cars as a lifestyle rather than mode of transport.
