It could be worse, Chris could still be wearing shirts with things like a big red fire truck on the front. I'd rather he'd go around looking like an autistic Steve Burns or Ernie from Sesame Street than that. At least striped shirts look more socially acceptable. Maybe if he had wore shirts with thinner stripes, or maybe if they pointed downwards he wouldn't look as bad. The large horizontal stripes tended to exaggerate his flab.I think Barb just didn't care one way or the other. She's lazy and imagine how easy it'd be to shop for someone who has no fashion sense. Normally kids develop an interest in wanting to look good in order to fit in better. Chris is oblivious on how to do this and both of his parents were from different generations. Barb also babies the hell out of Chris so if she did consider Chris while shopping I'd imagine it'd be what she thought would look "cute" on Chris. I'm sure Barb thought he looked adorable in Goodwill shirts that looked like they were from generic sitcoms in the late 80's.
And that posture...the way his hands left arm just hangs out like that, the expression that I can't tell whether it's a frown or a forced smile, and is that a pager I see attached to his right hip? That watch also reminds me a little bit of the wrist held communicators from Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers. I won't say anything about ho ridiculous the Sonichu medalion and the glasses look, since everyone else has summed those up better than I have. Those things all scream "autism" at the top of it's lungs. I don't think it's so much the striped shirts or solid colors that make Chris look so autistic as it is the way he carries himself.
Now that I see the Yep, I'm On T.V.
