Remember, it could always be worse, at least we didn't get a game that bricks your system ...

As hilarious as that would be (especially given the portrait of the ... "creature" ... making the claim), it annoys me that such claims never seem to come with any proof. Surely pics/video wouldn't be too hard to acquire and post, right?
That and they aren't defining what they mean by "bricked." Does it boot and offer to repair itself (even if it involves wiping the disk of all user data and restoring the OS from a backup partition)? Not bricked. Does it power on and enter some kind of recovery mode that allows the user to put in a recovery disk or thumb drive to restore it? Not bricked.
Does it power on and do nothing? Does it refuse to even power on at all? Did it let the magic smoke out?
That's bricked.
For all we know this dolt had a power spike in the neighborhood that put his console into panic mode for a bit until it settled down and started back up, and he's calling that "bricked" because it was briefly a game console that couldn't play games but then got better.
ETA:
How the fuck does a bug brick a console? Crash, sure, but brick it? You can't turn it off from the power source and restart it?
The Xbox runs Windows. lol. Granted, it's a stripped-down and "customized" version of it, but it's still fucking Windows. Swiss cheese with a door and maintained by pajeets. I'm genuinely surprised the Xbox series consoles have never been hit with a worm or virus.
PS4 runs a customized BSD variant. But it's from the same company that's leaked customer data (including unencrypted full credit card numbers & info) multiple times from their online services and that once developed the CSS "copy protection" scheme for the DVD format that was so laughably bad that it turned out to be easier to just brute-force the decryption key for each DVD on-the-fly than it was to keep spreading known (leaked) keys and risk non-stop DMCA takedowns. It's a miracle the PS4 can even boot given the caliber of "technical people" Sony employs in the media and games divisions.
I forget what the Switch runs, but it's already been shown to be hackable (at least prior to the hardware refresh they did last year) and they've already proven themselves willing to brick "hacked" consoles deliberately, so I imagine there's probably an exploit or bug out there that can trigger that "self-destruct" feature directly.
I'd be willing to bet there's some exploit or critical OS-destroying bug in the PS4 and Xbone ("lol delet system32") that can effectively brick the stupid things. The OS on both consoles takes up 10+GB of space. God only knows WTF they've crammed into them. At that size though it's a safe assumption there's plenty of code in there that nobody fully understands and it's such a complex system that nobody can honestly say they've tested every code path and ensured absolute security.
Animal Crossing doesn't deserve GOTY let alone a rating above 5/10 until the team can get their shit together and design a functional multiplayer system. Inexcusable.
kek ... this is Nintendo you're talking about. We should be grateful they've figured out how to get their consoles onto the internet in
any capacity, even just for system updates. Nintendo have
never understood online multiplayer. It's actually impressive how they've consistently missed the mark by a country mile in every console generation since the Wii.
Yeah devs just shut the fuck up and take it. Again, great thinking.

You get a copy of this screenshot with the "ifunny" watermark on it because this silliness doesn't deserve better.
You expect people sending death threats NOT to be completely autistic?
Legit death threats? Yeah. I'd expect them to be coherent and well written. See Charles Manson, Robert Berdella, Ted Kaczynski, etc. That's why we know they haven't received any real death threats -- the ones they've shown are retard-level trash talk nobody should ever take seriously.
