Cyberpunk 2077 Grieving Thread

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
I've never played a cyberpunk themed video game that was ever remotely satisfying. Hell and Syndicate sort of worked, but there's never been a game that really captures the essence of Shadowrun or the Cyberpunk 2020 universe.
Tried E.Y.E. Divine Cybermancy? It's a game you either love or hate, and I'm more on the hate side, but I'll be damned if it doesn't have a really passionate fan base.

This quick start guide will either entice you or terrify you

Given that full frontal nudity and gay/lesbian sex scenes have been confirmed I'm curious how many hours of incredibly awkward motion capture is going to be required for the final product.

Also if I don't get to choose between Brazilian, landing strip, and full bush for both genders it's not truly immersive, just saying.

None of this shit is even funny anymore. I'm so sick of this asinine nonsense.

Why did you have to bring up Twitter spergs, why can't we just videogame. (:_(
For the simple reason of showing what the game managed to generate in terms of salt and idiocy. If one ever bought a game to own the spergs, this game could be one of them.

With the idea of having gay sex, it would make one wonder if journalist could cream their pants in thinking its great inclusivity when its really just another form of adding roleplaying for ones own version of V. That said, CDProjeckt is likely to do it the same way the Witcher did with sex scenes.

That's gay.
It is since that means owning a group is more important than enjoying the game for the fun it has.

My hopes are high and my dick is higher.

CD Projekt red has a great track record with Witcher 3. Witcher was fucking amazing, it just delivered.

Also, vidya game sex. Who can top that?
Five years or so in development and with the trailer CD Projekt has shown us, they should be able to make a good product, especially after all the Witcher games they made.

With cyberpunk stuff, I less want brooding, navel-gazing examinations of its themes (which might be one reason I hate Blade Runner) and more mean-spirited, heavy-handed Robocop-ish satire. Which has been why Crusader: No Remorse has always been one of my favorites. It's got that vein of dark comedy running through it. I have no clue if 2077 will.

Seems like cyberpunk has been the dead horse to beat for gaming after they largely wore out post-apocalypse, but since this is grandfathered in as an adaptation of an older tabletop title and since CD Projekt Red has a great track record, I don't hate the idea.

After the trailer was released, a bunch of autists on /v/ complained that Cyberpunk 2077 was too bright for them and reminded them of GTA V. They cited William Gibson, who also didn't like it and compared it to GTA.

My similarly :autism: personal opinion on such complaints:
  • If it reminds you of GTA V, that's actually a good thing, because that means the trailer perfectly indicated the game's location... which is Southern California. Furthermore, a city of the future wouldn't just have nothing but futuristic buildings (unless it was entirely destroyed beforehand) - there'll always be a layer of old architecture alongside newer skyscrapers, just like in actual cities.
  • "Always night and rainy" cyberpunk settings are pretty much a cliché - it's great CD Projekt Red is not following stereotypes. Besides, SoCal isn't the rainiest place on Earth, is it? Doubly so in a cyberpunk future, where it's probably even more of a desert than now.
  • A dystopian setting doesn't have to be blatantly unappealing to be dystopian. Deus Ex: Human Revolution is a good example of that - the world of 2027 is very stylish and beautiful; a future I'd definitely want to live in. Once you look closely, though... well, it's quite fucking awful. And that's great!

Because the dev makes an instance in a game where augmentations could be looked down on in society, it must mean this game will be sexist and not understand cyberpunk despite being based on a tabletop game.

Also the creator and writer of the original tabletop was consulted and flown over to Poland many times to write and give input. I have all my faith in this game that they'll be true to the setting.

That is something these spergs wouldn't know about. Source material based off a tabletop would make cybernetics cost you something, like with essence in Shadowrun which was more or less your characters "humanity". The nuance of "at what point will my robo arm not make me human" flies over them when they get too focused on thinking this could be sexist because "the robot lady is unclean and impure because of her robotic body parts". I posted this in the Myers thread and I'll leave it here as well: the idiocy of a man's tweets over augmentations on a woman.

What a fucking tool this guy is. He knows literally nothing about the game and yet, has brass balls enough to state 'this is the dev intent' YEP.
