Cyberpunk 2077 Grieving Thread

Fuckin love dystopian sci-fi settings but cyberpunk really doesnt seem as dystopian as i was expecting so far. The maelstrom guys are pretty neat though, im just hoping theres an in game mechanic for having downsides to too many augs and it forces you to balance it somewhat because i really just want to replace literally every body part by the end of the game and im hoping theres downsides and its not just expected that you do that

Out of pure curiosity can someone with a good gpu and really bad pop-in issues try cranking their texture quality all the way down and see if it still happens?

I just got done with the mission to recover the woman from the scavengers, I'm still very early in the game, but so far I'd say it's made a decent enough first impression for me. Combat is slightly bullet spongy but not too much, and the only really noticeable bug I've encountered so far was when V started glitching out while carrying Sandra Dorset to the trauma team. I'm kinda mad that I didn't get to keep that HMG the gang leader was carrying though.

Yeah, I think I'm going to hold off for a year until the inevitable "Game of the Year/Special Edition" version comes out and I can upgrade console/PC to current specs. Real shame, this was one of two games that I was thinking of buying this year (other being Tsushima - good buy there).

Anyone got some good game recommendations?

Yeah, playing through the game, I don't have a problem with the endings. It's clear from the time you talk to the ripperdoc and Dex that the game is asking you to make a choice between living fast and dying young but becoming a legend and dying at an old age but having no one remember your name. Nothing will really change just because you blow shit up, you're just a cog in the machine. The only satisfaction you can gain is by making peace with yourself and walking away.
Who ever came up with the idea that games or movies had to be realistic and depressing just like real life? The whole point of a game or movie is to do/show stuff you couldn't do in real life, to escape the oppressive restrains from reality, but nooooo, the scholars and woke video gaming professors of this world think there's profound wisdom in making entertainment suck just like real life and forcing the same restraints onto it that you would have in real life. I know I'm exaggerating but that's the direction it's going. It's the same as with Judy being a lesbian. Yeah it's realistic, it could happen in real life, but who cares. The whole point of entertainment is to enjoy yourself. A real person in real life has his own feelings and personality and preferences, so you respect them. Who cares about respecting an NPC, it's completely fictional. You wouldn't go on a shooting rampage in real life either because you obviously know the hurt it would cause and how it would destroy your life, but it's fun to do in games. The GTA games understand this at least. I wonder when they will come for metal music and force them to replace "I will cut your throat, rip out your arms, bathe in your blood ROOOOOAR" with "I will come to your house, after calling and asking for permission, politely I'll ask before I commence my mission, to talk and debate you, on the points we disagree, until we reach a conclusion, like real mature adults, at each other we don't screaaaaaaaam" in the name of realism.

I get where your coming from but GTA style rampages can kinda get old quick and arent really fitting for an RPG. Its not like they do it assassins creed style where you get a popup saying "V didnt do that" so you still can but you could reasonably expect the police to fuck you up if you open fire on random pedestrians

What kind of games do you enjoy my man?

so finally got my hands on the game and im enjoying it despite technical issues. my character looks like an average emo teen in contrast to the freaks in this world but i like how she looks. even without this current hairstyle thats covering most of her face, she looks really good so its not like andromeda or dragon age inquisition where its almost impossible to create an attractive character. also for the love of god, never click the randomize character button. i dont think i can sleep without nightmares for the rest of the week.

anyways to most apparent issue is the sound. words that are very obviously supposed to be said in the subtitles glitch and are abruptly skipped. sound effects sometimes dont play when you for example hit a guy or ready your gun.

theres other problems such as the menu controls bugging out when you rotate your character. it was most apparent in the character creator where it would skip to the top and change one of the options despite me only pressing Q and E respecitvely. have you guys ever played a game on console where the menus were obviously designed for pc so it gives you a fake mouse to control in them? and because your analog stick isnt very accurate the fake mouse has to auto-aim into options that you are close to to make it work? theyve recreated a mild version of that same feel on PC and it feels bad.

theres game design problems too. the key for crouching is the same one as the one for skipping dialogue. during the walk and talk sections ive been through there are a lot of items on the floor and i accidently skipped the dialogue multiple times when i was trying to crouch to explore for hidden loot.

i think the mellee combat would be servicable and even fun if they changed when your opponent reacts to attacks. right now it feels like theres half a second of delay between you connecting your punch and the enemy reacting to it. your character also should react more when they get punched or block attacks because right now the enemy attacks feel flaccid. theres a dodge and last second counter there so it should be fun enough but the delayed reactions make it so much worse than it is.

the writings good though. i just watched an interview between a company member and a reverend debating an ''Immortality'' chip thats going to be released soon. the reverends monologue was good but i feel like the director forced the voice actor to ham it up to imitate the GTA radio style of parody which kinda took away from the scene and made it worse. that and the reverend had a big dumb glowing neon orange cross on his forehead...I dont know how i feel about that being a positive or negative yet.

Large & not Jewish

Edit: i also got some GOG goodies despite buying it on Steam because my accounts are linked.

so, i've waited a while to play it... is there a substantial enough patch that fixed everything yet?

I'd wait a week if you're worried. The bugs seem random/inconsistent since I'm seeing people with better specs than me having much more issues than I am.
