Cyberpunk 2077 Grieving Thread

I remember being a part of r/gamingcirclejerk a while back, and they had it out for Crowbcat, saying all his videos were super cherrypicked. Is there really any truth to that?

To some degree, yes, his videos show the bad rather than any good present in a game. If your only source is a crobcat video then you're probably going to come away with a worse opinion than if you just played the game. I'm remembering this third hand, but I think for some videos he showed bugs that were very rare in some game, but I don't know how true that is or what game it was.
But his videos are still just showing the game. There's only so much you can spin in a video that's literally footage of the game compared to footage of other games.

Poland is the west though, even though some people still call it Eastern Germany.

Honestly I think it's less diversity hires and more or less the Upper Management getting high off their own farts. Because the diversity hires were not the upper echelons. All the shit going wrong stops at management because it was within their power to put a stop to it in the first place.

Witcher 3 was their first big boy hit, and they fucking thought they could do no wrong now and choked big time.
I consider it the East, but that's me as an American.

Oh Upper Management did. They fucked up massively and could not handle the spotlight. They should have just stuck to linear but extensively branching stuff like Witcher 3. They could not handle the spotlight.
More than likely I wouldn't be surprised all things considering. Has me worried for whatever other updates they have in store for the game.

If so then fugggg D:
Incompetence.

Separate platform patches are a pain, so it's easier to have the engine/code itself figure out what its running on and do the right things (Including special things for the special needs consoles). If they can't do that properly, then whatever they do to fix the PC version will just hurt the consoles later on.

Now that I think about it, at my last meeting, my boss rambled on about how he had to put a stop to his CP2077 playthrough since patches completely killed the experience for him and he got tired of flying cars constantly homing onto him.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure this is what they're doing. Their biggest problems (both legally and PR wise) were the failure of the console versions. And they seem to be under the complete fucking delusion that the PC version was 'good'. It is not. It suffers from the same optimization problems, the only reason it doesn't suffer as badly is because PCs are not locked into specific hardware configurations and can compensate for the software's shortcomings with hardware. And yet I still encountered bugs in every single playthrough, patches or no patches.

The PC will probably be temporarily 'downgraded' with patches to make the console versions playable or at least enough so that Sony puts it back on its store (having it removed is a huge fucking embarrassment for them). The problem is Sony already opened up the box with refunds (which aside from Steam, other digital platforms rarely do). So the game has to be pristine. So you're really not getting bug fixes yet, just massive attempts to optimize for much older hardware which may actually not be possible. (And to release actual PS5 and XBox S versions, lol). They're going to have to do some crazy fucking optimization to get this to work.

Forget even core gameplay issues.
I had no idea the game was THIS broken.
All the placeholders, the spagetti shadow of the main character, the retarded AI convinced me this game is not even finished half way.
They haven't made proper animations for the main character, that's why they have no in game cutscenes.

It's over for them.
Oh, its bad. The main character is not properly skeletoned out for 3rd person, which is why there are EXTREMELY limited poses in 3rd person. I played around in photomode and no matter what you do, the camera basically defaults to certain poses, forcing you into them. Which is basically why you can't just throw a 3rd person mod on the game because there's no proper skeleton/meshwork for it so it looks like a horror show. This gets even harder because there's only one body-type. You have to do meshes and skeletons for multiple, which aren't in the game.

That's why I don't think this game can be saved beyond making it playable and optimized. That's about it. Anything else would require a core overhaul of the game mechanics. I mean, its clear the AI only has very basic pathing routines used. So much is missing and there are so many issues that I don't think you can save the game because it'd just be...well, like we were discussing, I'm on the side of @ZMOT now in that it would be too expensive to do. Not to mention the fact that they think absolutely nothing is wrong with the PC version and they fully embrace those 9/10, 10/10 garbage shill reviews that absolutely no one trusts.

I just don't think I'm going to go back to it. I cannot stand Johnny, hate how he is the center piece, are bored with the core mechanics and don't really think the game is moddable to any decent degree for it to be a sandobx of anything

Its Andromeda, AC Unity, and Sonic 06 all over again. They fucked up big time and released an incredibly subpar game that had potential but then got greedy and tried damage control with that whole review footage only bullshit to try and save their cowardly asses.

I feel like this is a curse that will hit all the major companies. Who's next? Nintendo Attorneys at Law? Crapcom? Squeenix?

I think those other companies already have except Nintendo. I mean SE has Avengers and Capcom not sure but didn't the RE3 remake get a lot of Flak?

Square already had that happen to them with Final Fantasy 15 and the first version of Final Fantasy 14.

They actually did the right thing with the 7 remake and scaled back the size of the game or else it would have suffered the same fate if they did everything at once while also embellishing the smaller parts.

Pokemon Sword and Shield was unfinished ass, however people bought that by the tens of millions

Capcom might have something happen to them with Monster Hunter Rise but that remains to be seen.

They added a weird quasi-pvp mode to the game, jonged up a bunch of shit that didn't need fixing, and the UI is atrocious with no options to majorly alter it like World allowed.

:story: I'm watching the Crowbcat video right now and this shit looks less impressive than GTA 3 which came out in 2001...

Edit: The Steam forum for the game is worth a read if you want some cringe.

(not sure if the ban stems from naysaying, but I've seen some shady mods on steam so who knows)

I agree with this assessment.
IH isn't making a video on it, I believe. He did do a few streams where he fucks around and "hunts for bugs to save CDPR's reputation." Highlights are on his IH: Live channel.
I dunno, considering the barrage of memery and drama that the release of Fallout 76 had caused, this one is orders of magnitude larger. Hopefully he won't pass up on the opportunity, I'd love to see his take on it.

At least there’s still other shit coming out. All the psuedo-retro games that have started popping up look great. 3D Realms of all people are back, have worked to rebuild their reputation, and are putting out at least 2 immersive sim games. The guy that made the mod that inspired Doom 2016 is releasing a game into early access this month.

You have to keep in mind, IH and Crowbcat do fundamentally different things. IH likes to examine the full timeline of events and highlight particular blunders in detail, so he likes to see how it's playing out. Crowbcat compares pre-release claims with the actual game, so he doesn't need to wait to see the final product.

The Fall of 76 came out in may 2019. Fallout 76 came out in november 2018.

To be fair that Steam user is correct, CDPR is not the new EA. As fucking shitty as EA is they have managed to make more than one good game.

It’s only cherry picking if I like the game. So pretty sure gamingcirclejerk is sucking his dick right now.

They tend to skew videos in a certain perspective. I remember in the Gears of War 5 video there was a comparison for the Lancer not having animations the old ones had. Only that was because that was a newer version of the lancer later in the game you actually find an old lancer with all the same extra animations.

The watermark from 2018 "work in progress not representative of final game" does not give CDPR carte blanche to remove every feature from the demo without protest.
That 40 minutes from Crow set a fire to CD Projekt's reputation that cannot be put out by patches or even expansions.

They fucked with the one thing people gave them which other publishers have long since lost: trust.

They pulled an Alien Colonial Marines and made a separate game demo on the side. They didn't take shit from the main game because they weren't working on it because management figured they needed something more impressive to show.
Capcom has Dead Rising 4
Made by CANADIANS. The same people CD Projekt Red imported among others.

It is strange to see Schreier confirm my theory of culture clash, though. Not sure how to feel about that.
