Cyberpunk 2077 Grieving Thread

Are you intentionally trying to come up with the worst take on what I say?

I'm talking more like STALKER or Metro. Guns didn't have a ridiculous DPS stat and instead relied more on your ability to aim and land shots on vital areas.

STALKER and Metro guns both have damage values. I would have to intentionally try to come up with some way for your statements to not be absolutely dumb, and that is more effort than I'm willing to put in.

What are you talking about? The guns in those games don't have a number in the inventory screen that tells you how much damage the weapon does. There's not an identical version of a weapon that mysteriously does 100 more "damage" for reasons. Are you literally talking about the coded values under the hood? Dude come on I am clearly not talking about that.

Are you retarded or have you just never played the games you "love" so much?

Or wait are you saying those little bars are somehow more realistic than listing a number? And you think that isn't retarded?

Oh wow look at that the damage value is a blue bar just like when you go into a gun store in real life! not those stupid unrealstic numbers that unrealistic games have *soyjack*

And the "no variant" thin is an outright lie too lol

As an aside, God is YongYea an insufferable twat.
Guy tongue bathes CDPR prior to release date in his review, saying CP2077 was an experience of a lifetime, and now that public perception has shifted he's grabbed a shovel and is tossing dirt on the grave.
Additionally, his spectacularly uninsightful insight and fence sitting exclaims him as the Tim Pool of this particular sub genre.
Plus who the FUCK wears their own merch on camera?

I'll say this though in his defense, at least he isn't fat.

That's a fixed scale that applies to every weapon for people that don't understand the difference between calibers. You can look at the weapon's ammunition type to determine relative damage in lieu of the display. Cyberpunk's is an open-ended damage roulette that is completely inconsistent with the stated objectives of the game's design.

No you are just too retarded to read it. Its literally just a number put into a bar and you're saying its new revolutionary and realistic. The damage isn't even consistent across caliber or even across guns (since despite your insistence they DO have named guns that are arbitrarily stronger).

You're praising a game because you're too dumb to realize it has the exact same features you're complaining about.

Chill my man. What you describe happens because a decayed weapon does less damage and needs to be repaired. Weapons at different levels of repair do variable damage within fixed parameters that are consistent across all weapon caliber types. The system is fixed, which is not the case with Cyberpunk. There seem to be no upper limits to damage stats or enemy armor stats for that matter. It creates an unrealistic environment filled with weapons that amount to the roll of a dice when used.

If I shoot a guy in the head in STALKER, he's dead. If I shoot a guy in the head in Cyberpunk... dreams can come true.

Johnny Self-Insert is a trash character with a trash plot and backstory. Again, Badowski changed the story to focus around Keanu (it is VERY heavily implied in articles) which is a total marketing move towards normies. What's even worse if you fucking hate Johnny you have to be 'nice' to him to get the secret ending. A guy who fucks around and cheats constantly on his girlfriend and shit and is the lead in a crappy band and I'm supposed to care or believe this great love story? Yeah, ok. Thanks for sticking me with an unlikeable cunt for 90% of the game and making it his story rather than mine.

Cyberpunk 2077's themes fall completely flat as they don't do much of anything with them. For having an 'engram' in your head, it asks very little questions and basically glosses over them completely for "BRO YOURE HANGING WITH KEANU". Firstly, is Johnny even real or a shadow? It basically assumes its the real him from the first second and only uses euphemisms for him being a parasite. Secondly, is memory all that makes us? Technically that's what he is, a bunch of memories. Though its never expounded upon, as somehow its his consciousness that is embedded on the chip. But what if Johnny wasn't taking you over? What if it was just his memories merging with your own and Johnny himself was just a schizophrenic imagining? What if the corporation knows you aren't really dying and all you need are some anti-psychotics and manipulates you to get to your brain? What if Viktor lies right from the beginning? What if the whole thing was a set-up to 'test' if someone could be re-written? And if you get the bare minimum of treatment all you'll do is have Johnny's memories with your personality and memories. Sort of like remembering a past life. But nobody bothers telling you this because they want to use you to experiment with mind manipulation technology. Corporate conspiracy, manipulation, betrayal by friends, dystopian control, death of self...pretty Cyberpunk to me.

But nah, its just Johnny's story you have the honor of being a part of. Utter fucking garbage. Oh, the only thing people will remember about Cyberpunk is its shitty multiplayer with microtransactions and you get to play with Keanu Reeves. Definitely not for the story or writing, I guarantee you that.
Should've been a dead giveaway when they announced Keanu in the game.
I don't know keanu as a person but I don't give a shit about any known actor being a main character in an anticipated game.
Mainstream appeal because of keanu? Was it advertised with "featuring keanu reeves"? The spots I saw on YouTube as ad on a video said nothing in name specific.
Even if keanu is supposed to be a cool guy. Fuck Hollywood actors, I don't want them in my game

While I do vehemently disagree with your stance on Johnny Silverchad as I had a lot of fun with the character, which I explained in an earlier post, I can't help myself but imagine an alternate timeline where choosing your childhood hero would have determined who your AI ghost companion would have been, which more or less was implied in the fake 2018 demo in retrospect. That alone would have dramatically increased the replay value where alternatively to Johnny, you would do the story, missions and side quest with Morgan Blackhand or Saburo Arasaka as your sidekick. The chemistry V would have had especially with Saburo would have been interesting as fuck to say the least.

At this point I highly doubt that CD Projekt Red will ever deliver the game they promised us in 2018. In fact, my personal hypothesis is that they'll fix the game enough to stay out of legal trouble and then try to memory hole it. But I would love to be proven wrong.

Has this ever worked?

All I can think of is Goldeneye and the fucker didn't even say anything, it was just Brosnan's janky-ass likeness. Which is probably all you should ever do if you're going to include a celebrity. There was Brutal Legend but that game was the poster child for "five out of ten is absolutely average."

The only game I can think of where you are just along for the ride that worked... was One Punch Man. Any other problems with that game aside, the story where you are not the actual hero was fucking amazingly well done for a video game. You felt useful, but also useless. It's hard to pin down what I mean, but the story was fun. The rest of the game was... an effort, I guess. I could see where they were trying to go with their design and it was definitely a step up from Jump Force, but they actually got shafted by their Publisher to release it and it released in better working condition and intended than Cyberpunk did.

That's a Bandai Namco game made by Spike Chunsoft, by the way. So even cash grab games came out better than Cyberpunk did. At least in my book.
That's the whole thing about One Punch Man though, right? It doesn't really follow the main hero because... well, he can end every single fight in one punch.

This made me wanna grab this game though.

I'd honestly pirate it if you can't find it at like $30 or less. The gameplay isn't the best out there, it gets the job done and certainly is better than Jump Force, but the character you create is basically just a witness to the first season. You can fight stuff, meet other heroes, become their friends, etc. However you will never be as powerful as Saitama. Stronger than the other heroes, sure, but never Saitama or the bosses you fight in Story Mode, although you can challenge the bosses separately if you like in side missions. It does have separate fighting styles based on the characters in the show which I liked and I genuinely felt the game was faithful and an authentic experience to the source material.

I should say, I'm not quite as picky with these kinds of games if they scratch my itch. It can leave marks and be painful, but if the itch is gone I'm happy.

Gotcha, off to the piratebay I go. I enjoy the manga so I've been kinda iffy on this game and crap.

I dunno if Bamco will let them make another or not, but if you do like it I'd suggest buying it at the price you think it's worth if it ever reaches that sale point just to support the idea.

But yeah, I still think they did a better job than CD Project Red and Spike Chunsoft isn't very good at making fighting games. Honestly Mike Pondsmith should have just gone to Japan and asked From Soft to make something with his IP, I feel like they'd be able to properly deliver the sense of dread a dystopian Cyberscape would be able to deliver and the inherent hopelessness of fighting megacorps. I suppose Koei Tecmo could have done something too, creating a hub based story telling akin to Nioh 2 and they had some pretty sick tricks with Attack on Titan 2. I dunno, I don't mean to sound like a weeb or anything, but this kind of made me realize what a missed opportunity this actually was. Japan actually could provide a much better critique on megacorps and their abusive behavior given their work culture and they seem to be able to deliver that sense of dread much better and without needless gore or violence that Western devs so needlessly do.

Shit, I think Miyazaki of From Soft came out saying that everything deserves a sense of dignity to its appearance no matter how grotesque the figure. Then they handed the Demon Souls remake to a western dev, I think, and they upped the gore and gross factor completely oblivious to why Miyazaki chose to have them designed with restraint in the first place. That's probably the best example I can think of to what I mean.

So what I gotta ask you, should I buy Nioh 2 when it's on PC or should I ignore?

Also, Cyberpunk 2077 is already on sale for console and the GOG version. CD Projekt Red's stock also dropped by 50%. Fucking lol. Sure Badoswki, your launch was fucking fine. You fucking polish retard. You shouldn't be anything other than a fucking secretary and fetch the Witcher 3 lead fucking coffee and donuts.

I know my stance is going to be controversial as a lot of people seem to have liked him, but I really didn't. I wanted to forge my own story and having him get in the way really chapped my ass. Like you said, I wish you could have chosen the companion. Or even made one up yourself for full customization, so you're playing as two characters. They could have done this and really just ditched the retarded GTA aspect of the whole thing. I like more the idea of making up your own engram so you have this sort of dual set-up and maybe the free DLCs would be Cyberpunk iconic characters you could have as the engram. Along with the themes I mentioned. The whole engram plot isn't bad, it is just terribly utilized. Keanu takes control of not only you, but your story. You should be more in control, but you're really not. The entire game is basically a linear experience. Its really unfucking believable that they have the audacity to call this an RPG.

They're completely fucking delusional, so they're not going to fix this. Its just going to be another Anthem with a multiplayer mode loaded with microtransactions to try and retain some of their profits. It will not get a No Man's Sky treatment, not with 50% of its stock gone, the delusional attitude of the developers and a fucking retard in charge.

Nah, they're NEVER going to get that money back.
