I was thinking on this, and I feel like the biggest problem was that the lead (Badowski or what the fuck ever) wanted to basically make a Rockstar game and ripped out the RPG elements as much as possible. It goes with the interviews with devs who basically didn't understand why they were trying to ape Rockstar (who has multiple, world-wide teams of over 1k people) and make both a GTA game and an RPG at the exact same time, something that not even Rockstar has yet attempted. I guess he thought the Witcher Polish magic would come through or some shit.
I feel like Rockstar should take the Shadowrun license and make a GTA/RPG Shadowrun. That'd be kind of hysterical, just to shove it in the face of CD Projekt. But its not like Rockstar needs to shove anything in their face, since you know, they're competent even if GTA V was a downgrade.
While we’re on that subject, was I the only one that felt like the game ended so abruptly? The pacing of this game felt like it was trying to hurry me along to just be done with it like it didn’t want me to play anymore. The story didn’t feel finished and I felt kind of unsatisfied when I got to the ending.
The game basically is a rush because its going to 'kill' you, so there's this feeling of urgency which you basically have to ignore to do side gigs.
I agree with you about Johnny. I spent most of the game yelling "eat a dick, Johnny!" because he annoyed me so much.
Johnny is so fucking annoying to me. I hate the 'rockerboy' class concept anyway, so that just made it doubly more grating. Its like, "Oh wow, you super love this girl you cheated on 50 times, yeah" *rolls eyes*. And that's the main drive for revenge. I found his boomer anarchist attitude annoying as fuck. Like just shut the fuck up, I get it, corporations are bad. They're terrible. Do you have any other personality? Good lord. At least you can ditch companions in RPGs you find annoying....except this isn't an RPG.
Scalper bots also. Which is why even new gen consoles are impossible to get.
And silicon supply constraints too.
Scalper Bots are the real problem. Everybody thinks they can make a killing. So you have these 3080s sitting at like $1500 and 3090s at like $3k now, because the scalpers had to mark up prices even further because every retailer marked prices up. I got my 3090 before tariffs, so I spent like...200 over MSRP on Amazon. I would never touch Ebay, because Amazon stores are much better to get stuff from.
I think scalper bots will still be a problem, though with the tariffs they're probably going to get fucked because they can't sell them for that much over MSRP and if people weren't buying before, they sure as fuck aren't buying now. So they're going to get stuck with a huge amount of rotting stock.
There's also a PSU shortage, so its like one of the worst years ever to build a new PC. Especially since COVID hit, everyone and their mother went "Hm, yes, let me build a new PC."
