Cyberpunk 2077 Grieving Thread

what happened with that anyway? all I remember is people cheering there's some half-life game or whatever getting released and then silence.
To cut a very long story short: It was Bad with a capital B. It was an even bigger disaster than the console versions of Cyberpunk 2077, believe it or not. The terrible writing, the stolen assets, the unplayability and shitty voice acting didn't do the game any favours either. President Bush (<- as the story takes place in the early 2000s) being voiced by Keemstar even became sort of a meme. It was so bad, it even further tarnished the reputation of Steam Greenlight back then and the jury is still out on if the Turkish guy behind the project was merely way over his head or an outright scammer.

I would also recommend The Right Opinion's video if you're interested in the details.

While I would not consider Cyberpunk 2077 even in its current state to be as bad as Hunt Down The Freeman, the parallels however are undeniable.

You are all being too fucking small brained on the game it's actually a meta commentary on what a real cyberpunk future will be.

You're expecting everything to be flawless and work? Well guess what Windows 10 still doesn't work right and they have multiple encyclopedias of errors that will never be fixed because Microsoft keeps cutting corners and hiring a bunch of fucking pajeets.

Now every year the errors pile up, now image it's 2077 and we're down to one global megacorp who owns all the tech. Global megacorp would still cut corners just as their predecessors did, and shit would fuck up and nobody would be held accountable because they're now hiring actual fucking monekys for tech support because Pakistan blows up india in 2027 just like Deus Ex said it would.

Cyberpunk is 10 out of 10.

this sounds like something a kojima bot would say

Whats this about Cyberpunk having fake gameplay? Did they just make up their own demo for interviews and the public demos people got were entirely different, cut content that was there in a demo downgraded/wasn't there in the actual game (I remember the car chase in a demo was an actual wild chase wth shooting and grenades which changed to a leisure stroll while a car just slowly follows you in the actual game), or what?

Here's a very long list of features from the 2018 gameplay demo that CDPR explicitly promised would be in the final game with cited sources.

Long story short, the E3 demo from 2018, rather than being a vertical slice of the game in development as they implied, instead has turned out to be a glorified CG trailer showing the game they hoped they would end up making, as they basically had no real game to show off at that point. Then on top of that everything they had made up to that point was tossed when they rebooted development for at least the second time a few months later when they re-wrote the entire story around Johnny.

crazy that this all could have been avoided if instead of making some cg reveal trailer in 2012, they just put out a little press release that was like "we secured the cyberpunk license"

although maybe not. i have to wonder when the hell they started making deals with sony and microsoft that probably forced them to get it out by the end of 2020. surely by 2018 they should have realized what they were making wouldn't work on 2013 tech, right?

I'm not a huge Rockstar fan but there's a reason they never announce a game until it's finished and basically ready to launch in a few months.

So they basically wasted money, resources, and time making a fake 'demo' that is actually an ideas showcase/CG animation that looks like a demo(?) and hyped this up as the game? haha what the fuck
even then, why 'delete' them if this was an actual coded demo? I don't know shit about game development and coding, but would it be easy to transfer most of the coding to the actual game with a few changes to make it work in the real deal?
EDIT: So it is a CG trailer. All that time working on it could be spent on making it to be a short Cyperpunk version of Hardcore Henry to advertise the game instead. Even the animated Chinese phone commercial only uses the concept and some characters (even makes up their own V), but never said its how the game works.

Sprinkle in a little of the OG Fable too. Does anyone remember the promise of planting an acorn and being able to watch it grow along with your character?

There was definitely some Molyneux levels of duplicity going on here.

Basically saves are broken, crashing, game not booting up,p patch didn't even fix most bugs and introduced new ones, personally I don't know haven't downloaded yet but for now I'm definitely putting it off.

While I do vehemently disagree with your stance on Johnny Silverchad as I had a lot of fun with the character, which I explained in an earlier post, I can't help myself but imagine an alternate timeline where choosing your childhood hero would have determined who your AI ghost companion would have been, which more or less was implied in the fake 2018 demo in retrospect. That alone would have dramatically increased the replay value where alternatively to Johnny, you would do the story, missions and side quest with Morgan Blackhand or Saburo Arasaka as your sidekick. The chemistry V would have had especially with Saburo would have been interesting as fuck to say the least.
I remember an anon on /v/ mentioning what if the engram you had stolen was actually programed with Saburo Arasaka in mind giving you around 150 years of memories and experiences to look back on including his time in WW II. Eventually the Saburo engram would "split" from the original and change based on your experiences. Haven't been able to get the idea out of my head since, I just love the idea of having this corpo old japanese overlord stuck in your head :(.

Lmao, they patched it and now you can't even load the game. The absolute fucking state of CDPR. Their next patch will probably be setting people's apartments on fire.

Aye. Can't boot it on my other PC as well. And that's the one with the beefier graphics card.

Alright, so I have been posting since release in this thread, and I thought the best way to really discuss this is to buy it.

I could write a five paragraph review so far, but it's just so bland. The bugs haven't bothered me as much as how much of a boring slog this game is. Honestly, if it wasn't for the fact I love the world of Cyberpunk and actually like the weapons, and Militech because NUSA, I would've refunded this days ago. I'm trying to finish it to review it, but I finish four hour long playthroughs and can't tell you a thing that happened or how I feel.

It's just mediocre, I don't know how to explain my disappointment.

The game is literally a AA game from 2011. If a random no-name studio produced this back then, it would be a 7/10 because you would be like "Wow, this is buggy as shit but I'm impressed they cobbled this together".

It is still incomprehensible to me that people think that features on this game are acceptable for a AAA $60 title in 2020. It is the absolute bare minimum you are required to have. It is nowhere near worth $60. $30 is the MAXIMUM I would purchase for this. Because it has no replayability, one play style, no variation, basically one gameplay mode (murder) and has terrible support.

The engram concept could have been so cool.

Imagine you had the 'engram meter' instead of the 'adrenaline meter' and every time it fills up you can 'turn' the engram on and get all those experiences. So you just become this max level fucking murder machine, with chain insta kills with a katana or using silverhand's revolver. The engram is something you can level up separately and gain experience with. Like the engram also can offer insights in the form of memories or 'becoming alive'. It is truly like your partner and it 'killing' you is a complete lie and you get to choose how it develops in your brain, eventually having the power and experience of two people.

Like there's so much that could have been done with this concept the fact that they went so basic, so...boring with it just speaks that they wanted to make it super normie friendly and didn't much care. Like maybe instead of being forced to care, maybe doing your engram's story unlocks additional abilities and upgrade paths for it. So you get something out of doing it, especially if you enjoy interaction with them. Maybe its YOUR choice to destroy your engram or save it. To live as two people instead of one, instead of this 'oh, its just re-writing you'. There's so much cool shit to mine.

They went basic bitch with everything. That's why this won't be fixed. They're 'happy' with where it is. I can load up GTA V or Red Dead 2, I don't need a shitty GTA clone with a cyberpunk skin. Their vision for this project is fucking banal as hell. There's no two ways around it. You'd basically have to force Badowski out as lead and get someone with real fucking vision and creativity on there. He clearly doesn't have it. And I don't know if CD Projekt have any left at this point.

Imagine if they kept the "childhood hero" aspect of the character creator, didn't design the story around Johnny, and the engram you did end up getting was Blackhand's (solo skills), Johnny's (rockerboy skills, whatever the fuck those are), or Arasaka's (corporate espionage skills, maybe more focused on accessing memory for ettiquete and protocol) depending on who you picked. Then you have the level system you described, and all of a sudden you have a "devil trigger" style ability you can upgrade by doing side quests and learning more about the engram's personality that gives you more reason to replay the game and experiment with character builds.

I'm still debating. I heard there's a new patch and there will be another one soon. I have PS4 Pro does that matter at all?

I've only played Witcher 3 in terms of CD Projekt Red games.

I'm just concerned because I've never ever witnessed such divisive game since ME3's ending...and DA2...and that wrestling game with the out of control Medusa hair physics that came out last year

(Saw mention of Yakuza earlier. LAD is best game since Kiwami 2 and 0. Ichiban is hot. Not as suave as Kiriyu but still. Game is MASSIVE)

The absolute state of importing North American workers. :story:

Fucking pajeets could probably do better.

Jane Perry (Diana in Hitman) mentions in this interview that she did voicework for Cyberpunk. She sounds really excited about it too. Its a shame the game is awful.
