Whether the name and the premise is them dabbing on CD Projekt Red is up to you, but to me at least it looks pretty dope and I'll give it a try when it comes out. It's basically GTA 2 as a cyberpunk game.

My particular favorite bit is the comparison to Red Dead Redemption 2, and how you could pick up things, listen to the storekeeper chatter, even page through a catalogue while in a store. CP2077, by comparison, is hilariously last gen (at best) in terms of that interaction.

the music at the end is just perfect. i didn't get the hwangbo glitch but there is something people figured it out and it's how to make panam and judy to become sort of permanent followers, on PC it's kinda fixed and requires a bit of extra work tho.

That's the thing. The game really is unfixable, because the only way to fix it would be to completely scrap it and redo it, which is not something that can be done once a game is out and on the market. Even without the bugs, it would still be a remarkably underwhelming RPG.

So out of boredom I had booted up Fallout New Vegas and modded it with some ENBs and timescale improvements (because short days on hardcore mode are kind of annoying) and the funny thing is is that game is janky as fuck almost more than Cyberpunk 2077. The difference is how diverse everyone's playthrough is going to be when they play through it because there are so many choices and options you can make during that game to completely change the outcome of the main narrative and world. You can play the game murdering everybody in sight and end the game with an empty Mojave. You can side with a militarist autocratic society that enslaves the entire Mojave. It's not just the narrative either, it's what you can play as too. Want to play as a heavy armored melee character carrying a super sledge, you can play as that. Don't like guns and rather specialize in energy weapons, sure. Want to make your character an expert in medicine, speech and sneak? Go right ahead. Even more is the amount of risk and reward there is to just walking around the Mojave. You could be walking through the Mojave and while scavenging a nearby building there could be Cazadores guarding it and they'll wreck your shit if you're undergeared. You could find a hilltop infested with Super Mutants equipped with big guns and melee weapons that blare on a radio a bunch of whacky shit. You can play the game and never do any of the main quest. It's possible to play the game and probably never interact with Benny at all (though you'll probably never end the game). There are special weapons you can find and buy that will make your builds stronger, there's an array of perks you can choose to make your game either stronger or crazy (bloody mess, cannibalism, wild wasteland). Hell, sometimes it's autistically fun to watch playthroughs of the game and see what crazy shit people do in their game whether that's kill anyone they meet for caps or do sociopathic stuff for fun. What different ways do people solve the side quests in the game? Who do they side with in the faction conflict? Do they even partake in the faction conflict?

Meanwhile in Cyberpunk 2077 I guarantee minus maybe a few side quests and objectives every playthrough by principal is going to be the same other than combat builds. I guarantee at least 90-95% of people chose to shoot up maelstrom in the prologue sequence of the game or gave them the chip and then shot up the place. What's there to see in the main world? Tall buildings? What's there to find? That le reddit comedy gun that ends up being utterly worthless after you kill enough people? A couple of unique items and cars that are already not fun to drive due to the shitty mechanics? You may as well not even pay the ripper doc up front in the prologue when you first meet him because the dialogue in that quest, I shit you not, is bugged. You can also 'technically' avoid the main quest and just play the game to your leisure, but you are constantly harassed by NPCs calling you and texting you about it and telling you you need to meet them right away. There's also no risk at all to side objectives because unless you don't pay attention to the difficulty, you know what you're getting into. And there's nothing to find at these side objectives other than generic consumables and guns. In fact, I can't even in good conscience call it an RPG because what do you roleplay as? A dying street vigilante? That's it. There's no diversity in playthroughs other than kill innocent people and maybe specialize in different combat abilities. You can't play this game pacifistically because every situation involves killing or rescuing someone. You can't even really play as a sociopath in this game unless you count being a passive aggressive asshole in dialogue options.

Well that, and Square doesn't have all of its eggs in one basket so if a game goes bad, they can afford to completely overhaul it without causing an investor panic. They publish games, manga, and even own physical assets such as cafes, toy lines, and are even opening a theme park.

Rather, he was on record saying that fixing the game was the least they can do to redeem the franchise's reputation, after the twin disasters that was FFXV initial launch and the ongoing fiasco of FFXIV 1.0. SEnix had also the luxury of not being a one-time wonder, so they had cash to spare to ride out the storm. CDPR? Probably not.

It takes guts to say something like that, that's for sure. Unless CDPR has their own Y-P, I sincerely doubt they'd do it. CP2077 will be doomed to be a footnote and added to pile of "broken, mediocre game".

It's also a janky, buggy, unfinished game like Cyberpunk, but earned a cult following (and a sequel that will probably be absolutely garbage once it releases) by having a variety of build, role-play, and story options.

Your timeline is a little off. FFXV (Nov 2016) released after FFXIV's first expansion (Oct 2014), and shortly after its second expansion was announced (Oct 2016). Said second expansion released in June of 2017.

it's good PR for sure, and definitely more long-term thinking - even if 2.0 had bombed (again), that good will still has value for some companies, possibly leading to more sales in the future. otoh "gamers" are absolute retarded sheep with the memory of a goldfish, so that value is debatable.

CDPR tho? all I could remember was some self-wanking lip service "we're the good guys" beforehand. if they would've cared it would never had released the way it did, and walked back on some of the hype they fostered. there's also no way the game will ever make the money back, even with ff14 there still was a chance.

While Troikia was known for buggy games, the state of bloodlines actually wasn't their fault. They wanted to use the source engine. However at that time, Half-Life 2 was not out. So, not wanting another game to be shown before the full version of theirs was ready, they gave Troikia a gimped engine that was much harder to work with and lacked features.

I hope they at least got a discount on pricing. Because they got a raw deal.

It probably is. There's no more hype for it and people have moved on to other games, indies like Valenhiem and shit. It might one day pop back out of nowhere, but it might be awhile. They might not even be working on it because of lawsuits too.
