Cyberpunk 2077 Grieving Thread

IMO outside of combat/driving fixes, in terms of immersion, the game needs a functioning metro system, aerodynes as a mode of transport (even with scripted routes), more immersive vendors (i.e. eating + drinking animations), more repeatable gigs (i.e. taxis, even helping out trauma team or the police as a subcontractor), and more possible scripted events going on in the world (even mundane stuff). Interactibility with characters outside of missions (having friends tag along as followers) would be a massive boost, but I don't expect it.

Edgerunners was a great addition to the Cyberpunk world that allowed CDPR to finally be in control of the narrative after release, and they should capitalize on this beyond Phantom Liberty.

I might be slow to get as to why it is so shitty or how it is nonsense.
at least from what I know there are 2 versions of the Relic, Relic 1.0 for the 'Secure Your Soul' program and Relic 2.0 that is only meant for corporate use.
obv the 'Secure Your Soul' program is popular af with celebrities and rich people n I dunno how different it is from Relic 2.0 so I won't say much.
the final version for Relic 2.0 has the biological compatibility issue but it eliminates the "emotional or personality instability" that occurs in the prototype when the engram is activated, by that I mean when the engram is activated and is influenced by the host. Despite such issues clearly it's more meant to fit Saburo himself.
V is the test subject of 1.0.
V is also a schizophrenic mess.

They're gonna be adding a new Radio Station for Phantom Liberty. That would be cool if it wasn't basically a ploy to scam their community out of music in the form of a "contest". All the "winners" will get for their troubles is:
1. 3000 Dollars (taxable, of course)
2. Some Music Mixing Software
3. Gift Basket

Basically a hell of a lot less than it would cost them to license or commission music.

All the Cyberpunk 2077 fans are clinging on to the DLC now as if it's gonna be the second coming and fix everything about the game while also adding everything that was promised. They did this with the day 1 patch. They did this with 1.1, then 1.2, 1.3, 1.4...you get the gist.

When will you freakin fricks learn?!?!

Never. The thrill of what the game COULD be (or what is in the gamers head) will forever be more enticing then what the game actually is. All you need is a slick look and a great marketing strategy to sell millions.

There's only two possibilities for it, really:

1. They basically give us more of the same. It's cost effective and safe in regards to bugs and performance, but overall it will be completely underwhelming.
2. They actually try to introduce a lot of new stuff into the game, including some more complex system and end up completely breaking the game again because they apparently can't dev for their own fucking in-house engine.

Even without the bugs the game was pretty mediocre. There are some side quests I really enjoyed, namely the Peralez's and River's, but the main story after act 1 is hot garbage

I think the main story could have worked a lot better if we never took the chip back from Jackie and Silverhand is in his head and we have to watch our friend go schitzo.

Another plus is we wouldn't have to hear Keanu's awful voice acting.
Chingado madre Jackie's voice acting has to be one of the best in the game. The marketing for Keanu was hot trash for such a mediocre portrayal of a character. His forcefulness as some badass anti corpo mercenary felt so fake. Even David Sarif from Deus Ex HR has more charisma than Silverhand.

I don't get why CDPR felt that they needed Reeves at that point.

Like you were running high off Witcher 3. You were developer darlings.

Did they really think Reeves would bring in THAT much more sales? Or were they just star struck?

imagine being the 99.9% of participants that put on all their efforts just for a crumb of exposure but end up losing, heck 3000$ sounds way too low for a prize.

it's not a need it's a marketing trend.
Ellen Page and William Dafoe in Beyond Two Souls, Norman Reedus and Conan O'brien in Death Stranding.
and what's even worse is that it fucking works and people just happily eat it.

The management was completely, 100% star struck AND figured it was a great way to sell the game. The originally docs had Johnny be one of three AI that would be in your head (depending on the chosen "hero" V looked up too) but they loved working with Reeve's so much and he was great for marketing that Reeve's basically took over the story.

You have to remember: All the Witcher 3 dev quit after upper management saw how much money GTA6 was making and wanted to chase that dragon.

i can guess why they put him in the game other than just john wick. he has appeared in other cyberpunk and science fiction films in the past: johnny mnemonic, the matrix trilogy, a scanner darkly, chain reaction (that last movie wasnt particularly good but still) so im guessing that was a factor in why, johnny mnemonic in particular since it has a slightly similar story to the game.

but its likely they got him onboard because of the john wicks anyway

Don't you dare disrespect David Sarif and Stephen Shellenberg by comparing him to Keanus snore fest as Silverhand

I will always credit SOMA for sticking with the idea that uploading your mind is a form of digital duplication, not a transference of one's mind.
I'd argue this form of 'upload' would work in sci-fi best like the star trek transporter concept, where it's essentially just copying someone down to the atom to a different location, that data would have to be stored then deleted as well. You would kill the original physical form if you're uploading yourself unless you really want there to be one version of yourself in a computer and one in reality. And once you're in the computer, if you ever want to move to another you're going to have to do this process again. And if you're in a traditional computer, if that's even possible, it's constantly deleting and rewriting sections of a storage medium to make 'you'. It's a ship of Theseus concept taken to it's farthest extreme.

Eh. They game was never horribad. It was mediocre and buggy.

The problem was that it was hyped out to be a god like new phenomenon.

When it is just fallout in San Francisco with cyborgs... I mean Night City.

It is like San Fran, just less feces and drug needles but more angry cyborgs.

Ok maybe im confused, but what makes having a contest bad? 3000 bucks, 200 dollar software, and a statue is more than 90% of contests give out for sometimes more work. I dont understand the hateful response people have to contests like this, you make 1 song, and if you win you get a lot of shit and that song in game along with 11-14 other people, not a bad deal in my opinion.

Sarif was excellent as an out of touch executive type, I have dealt with executives who sound precisely like he did, dude was spot on in his delivery. The actor who replaced him for Mankind Divided did not do half as good a job.
I loved reading the e-mail early on where his lawyer tells him he's on thin ice with some of his recent actions and only got away with turning Adam Jensen into his personal murder-machine thanks to an ironclad cause in his employment contract, presumably about injuries and the necessary medical care to render him fit for work again.

That said, Sarif does mean well, which is more than can be said for 90% of the people in that game.
