Cyberpunk 2077 Grieving Thread

Considering what this forum has documented New Zealand being up to, that's not saying much.
Its obvious the lore was a very much a result of the popular thinking of the time, not of the creators really sitting down and understanding the geopolitics at the time.

For example Japan being the wave of the future going to dominate America was a trope in media at the time. Blade Runner, Robocop, Back to the future etc. all featured some form of the Japanese taking over America's place in the world or being superior to America.

In real life Japan suffered a serious economic downturn at the start of the 90s and has since been dealing with an ever more crippling demographic problem.

Those movies were before the 90's.
In the 80's Japan was a potency. Or just play Yakuza 0 to understand somewhat of the economic bubble they're survived.

Dude, if we want to talk about the 90's, I was reading the Home of the Brave sourcebook for 2020 and I saw this in a sidebar...

Can we get them back? Please?

So I pirated the latest version and attempted to play this game again. It just blows. It's still buggy as fuck, the driving sucks, the combat sucks. The story is kind of meh. Cut scenes go on for far too long. A scene that could be told in a handful of lines is 15 minutes long of droning monologues when a condensed version would be more emotional or impactful. It got to the point where I was just skipping the dialog because I get it, move on.

Last time I played and gave up a few hours in, it was because even at the hardest difficulty I could just rush everyone with a shotgun and kill everyone sometimes having to do the quick melee if I got overwhelmed. So this time I tried to specifically rely on my quickhacks, stealth, mantis blades and use no guns(except for a silenced pistol). It also made combat a joke. Especially when I got a cyberdeck that spreads quickhacks. I haven't looked at any guides or how to build my character, I just put points where I wanted at the time and often had 10 or more unspent points and perks. My character definitely isn't min-maxed and is probably ass, but combat is a joke. I banged that panam chick, and the parade mission was probably the highlight of the game. So I gave up again. Shadowrun series is a far superior "cyberpunk" game, so I decided to play through shadowrun: dragonfall (the directors cut) again.

I will say that on my pc the game looks great, until a motorcycle is vibrating and flipping out during an emotional scene where you're grieving the death of your best friend, or the ghosts of T-Posing fat chicks in spandex constantly walk into the cutscene. I felt like I was playing a janky borderlands clone with a nice reshade filter. It's a shame because I can see if this had a couple more years in development, got polished and optimized it could be not just "playable" but good. As it is now, it's not worth even pirating it, the 70gigs of space it takes up is better used for something else. Like god of war, which I just played, and it was amazing.

if you're in the mood for some cyberpunk and already playing an isometric game check out the ascent.
shadows of doubt might be good too, but it's still in early access and the cloudpunk-style is not everyone's cup of tea.

Motherfucker, the game had like 6 years of dev time and now more 3 years of post release patches. What in the name of Jesus Christ our lord and savior do you want more?
I don't include the post release shit because it's not real development. It's patchwork by a barebones team. 6 years is about average for a game of this scope it definitely needed at least 2 more, probably 4 to really put out a polished gem. Though in this day, it's not going to happen when you can shit out a mobile game in a month that will generate a million dollars a day in microtransactions, so I blame the industry and retards who spend their entire paycheck on JPGs and lootboxes.

the "they didn't have enough time!" cope will never not be funny to me

by their own admission they were working on it since at least 2012
[...]they are really seasoned developer's and they're working on a new, AAA RPG. So I suppose you'd like to find out about what RPG it is [...] a Cyberpunk game; but not just a regular Cyberpunk game, on "The" Cyberpunk game - that's really important to stress.

before restarting development in late 2016, giving the game like a 4 year development at best
I'm sure they completely scrapped all work, fired all employees, and restarted from square one. The game is very clearly a Frankenstein monster of stitched together versions.

Besides, if they were incompetent enough that they had to restart the game mid-development, what would come from giving them two or four more years? Another restart? The game being four or five different games stitched together instead of only two or three? Cutting even more features and content to get it to run better?

it'd probably be closer to what we have now and we'd have the proper cable car system thing they wanted in game too probably

I don't get everybody's bitch about the supposed price. By the time PL comes out the base game will be turning 3, and as popular it is to shit on CDPR now it can't be like they were fisting each other instead of working for that long.
Based on the trailer I'd say that's exactly what they've been doing. The fact that they have the balls to charge for this steaming pile of shit at all is insane.

Interesting that this isn't getting more attention, but it seems they are significantly reworking the base game in conjuction with this DLC:

Cyberware, combat, AI, car combat, police system, itemization, and new animations are all getting significant revamps.
Cautiously optimistic.
Sounds cool. I played through the game on PS5 last year and thought it was alright, I wanted to play again but female V and a stealth build were too boring, so maybe I'll just go with another turbo killer male V and enjoy the new systems.
