Cyberpunk 2077 Grieving Thread

Skimming this thread, seeing people's hopes and suspicions, all shot down or vindicated as that shitshow of a game finally released is a trip and a half.
Looking forward to seeing people showcase it. Me dumb so I have no idea what I'm looking at. Reminder that Cyberpunk 2077 sucks and always will suck.

as an opposite to the post above, iunno what it is about this game but the world and setting fascinate me. it's extremely rare for me to play a narrative game more than once, but I have 350 hours in this game on my third playthrough, and am likely going to do a fourth at some point.

granted, I have like, 150 mods installed, so my game plays far from how vanilla was, but iunno, I just really like this game for some reason. i feel like I finally understand those lunatics who have 3k in skyrim.

For all of the balls CDPR dropped regarding gameplay and story, they absolutely nailed the look and feel of the Cyberpunk world.

i dont even think the story is bad, if anything CDPR leaned into the lore too heavily, since I saw people in this very thread asking shit like "how did arasaka get the johnny engram when spider-murpy made it?"

fair question, but to my knowledge that's entirely explained in the TTRPG, which the game actually never mentions at all.

but I think there's one thing we can all agree on, im glad CDPR left out the furry animal people.

IIRC in the OG TTRPG story Johnny just straight up dies in the raid of arasaka tower, and Morgan Blackhand does all the badass shit. I’m pretty sure they added all the engram stuff for the game, and Johnny doing things in the raid that Morgan did in the original is explained away by Mike Pondsmith as Johnny remembering it his own way to fuel his ego. Mike Pondsmith (TTRPG author) had a pretty big oversight into 2077 though so it doesn’t stray too far from the events that took place canonically in the TTRPG. I do think the third book was retconned though as most players found the storyline and setting kinda shitty.

i am far from a TTRPG expert, so anyone correct me, but I always read Johnny's memories as the fact he's a fucking eogmaniac who always puts himself in the spotlight. If I recall a game designer for Cyberpunk even pointed out how in Johnny's memories they turned up his damage and the gore, as in, every time you fire Johnny's gun it's blowing peoples limbs off, cutting people in half, and one shotting everyone.

that's not because the gun is super OP, it's because Johnny's a maniac who remembers himself as a hyper bad ass soloing the Arasaka army. when you kill Adam Smasher you can tell him Johnny sends his regards, and Smashers response is straight up "who?"

I'm not convinced that the Johnny flashbacks weren't a fuck up that they (Pondsmith) just rolled with by saying it's "just how he viewed himself"

It's been a while, but I'm like 95% sure Johnny had nothing to do with fighting Adam Smasher in the original TTRPG story and it was all Blackhand.

I mean, it works well enough but I still think it was a fuck up from the late rewrites to make Keanu more prominent.

in the actual flashbacks?
I don't know if the flashback gun has the same stats as the one V gets, but before 2.0 it used to get cover pen on its rounds when you aimed down the sights while keeping ricochet while hip-firing, and the quick melee only took one round and not all of them.

Honestly 2.0's adjustments to Iconics were in many cases good, others terrible. With quickhacks losing their synergy with your weapons Fenrir getting the ability to Cyberware Malfunction people was a great upgrade from its prior thing of fire damage that Psalm 11:6 did a hell of a lot better, but Headsman went from a magnificent close-range crit-seeker to a methodical slug gun with a scope that has zero synergy at all with the Body perks that are all about speed and blasting away like Rambo.

to my limited knowledge Johnny 100% attempted to fight Adam Smasher, he got one shot in a hallway in such a manner that Adam Smasher barely even registered him.

yeah, I'm only talking narrative stuff, I really don't care about any of the actual mechanics in the gameplay. but good to know.

Despite the game still being popular somehow (must be that CDPR copium), is it just extremely hard to mod? All I see are some tweaks and copious amounts of outfits. Coolest mod I've seen recently is the Auto 9 mod, hell yeah.

That gun has been nerfed several times by CDPR. They want us to quit having fun with it.
I never played 2077 before the 2.0 update, but I still feel that the Malorian is plenty powerful even with the changes to it. It might be my favorite Iconic Pistol in the game.

If you rewatch the flashbacks from the big nuke op one of them cuts to a location Johnny was never at with someone walking out of the building, it's a subtle way of implying that his memories weren't just messed up by either radiation or his own ego but that he got some of Blackhand's mixed in during torture sessions and now thinks he was a total hardass that set off multiple nukes by himself
