Cyberpunk 2077 Grieving Thread

I've been bitched at at Plebbit and other sites for this opinion but I think it's vaporware at this point. It's been seven years since development begin and all they have is pre rendered "pre alpha" gameplay. If it's not vaporware than release is 2022-2024 at the earliest.
Aiming for a 2077 release.

Oh, come on this isn't Half-Life!

I have a bit of perplexities on the trailer because a lot of it looked like scripted scenes to make the game good instead of a typical mission's gameplay. Now, I know that the trailer is supposed to show the best mechanics of the game in around 10 minutes so they have to "cheat" but this reminded of the trailer of Watchdogs where you'd see a lot of interactions between the NPCs, the player and the environment that got lost in the release version.

Considering the long development times I hope the game will be consistent with the original premises and the trailers.

Pfft...no it wont. This is CDPR we're talking about, they show cool shit and then toss it out the window when the game comes out, but they arent worried since their fans will make excuses for em. Witcher 3 should have been a dead give away for that.

Surely CDPR is one of the few companies that can still deliver good SP games, but since this is one of the few games that i'm genuinely interested in, i'm a bit pessimistic so I can enjoy a good enough game instead of loathing because I didn't get the perfect one (maybe it's just me but i'm wary of games with long\complex development).
Speaking of loathing love how with BF5 and COD:WW2 it was woke companies vs racist bigots while CDPR doesn't give a fuck and offends everyone.

Good SP game? Eh, thats debatable, I said once and itll always need repeating. But Witcher 1-2 are mediocre at best, Witcher 3 was and still overhyped while in reality its decent at the most. It still repeats many mistakes of the previous games while only fixing a few, hell even the main story in Witcher 3 aint all that great. Yeah, CDPR offends all an that later had to apologise for it on twitter if Im not wrong

Thought I'd update the thread with the new trailer from E3:

Regardless of whether you like CD Projekt Red's games or not, I have to give them props for being one of the few developers to package extra digital content with even just the base game. Each copy comes with the soundtrack, some wallpapers, art booklet, and sourcebook, regardless if you buy it as a digital download or as a physical copy.

Can't wait for this game. Also for poorfags 'round the world, you're in luck. Since it's comin' out on GoG, it's gonna be out on torrent sites lickety split since there's no DRM on GoG. Though, if you wanna support em, I'd probably buy on GoG.

Also live on their site cyberpunk.net, Epic Games ain't gonna get any of that exclusivity baby. If they make it so that Epic Games only gets the game after a year, then I'll be more than happy. :story:

Just realized Keanu Reeves is actually Johnny Silverhand because of the arm

Way to introduce a character

I personally opted for GOG for my pre-order. It's more expensive than on Steam where I am (regional pricing and all that), but I thought I'd show them some love (and the extra exclusive digital goodies didn't hurt). Their games aren't perfect, but their heart is in the right place in my book. I mean, really, look at these STANDARD physical edition inclusions:

793962

Ubi/EA would probably charge a hundred bucks for that.

Really? Looking at the prices, they seem roughly the same for both steam and GoG, around 60$. Though, probably gonna get the GoG version myself, since I already own The Witcher games there, so might aswell add it to my collection. What does worry me is the game just saying "Windows 10", really hope it's not just for that and it does support Win 7 or 8.

Good eye, didn't notice that "Windows (10)" on there. I also hope that's just a placeholder for now and they make it available for Win 7 and 8. There's no official minimum requirements set, so let's keep our fingers crossed that CDPR would be more lenient with that.

As for regional pricing, third-worldfag here, so Steam gives us some pity pricing, LOL. There's about a $12 price difference between GOG and Steam for my location.

Yeah, steam gives some sadboy pricing for us third-worlders, but as far as I know there's no regional pricing for GoG where I'm from. In fact, Steam has the regional pricing here, so I don't really know for certain. Probably gonna get it on Steam because the rest of my games are there anyway.

Yeah, about the only thing I can ding GOG for is their lack of regional pricing (and maybe newer releases missing, because publishers are wary of DRM-free stuff), which is pretty much why I mostly shop on Steam, though I'm not even holding that against them, being a much smaller outfit than Steam that they probably can't afford to hand out pity pricing at this point.

It's also combined that they had to lay off some workers in February of this year, combined with the having to shutdown the bundle package (where you buy games and get some small cash on your GoG wallet from CDPR). Hell, if anything one of their insiders said how they are close to being in the red with their store. As for newer releases, well they are getting that Blair Witch game, Bloodlines 2, Xenonauts 2, Biomutant and they are getting their own exclusive which is Iron Harvest.

Unfortunately with DRM-free comes literally next to no profits because they just do the work of the scene groups of torrent sites. But as far as I know, if Cyberpunk lives up to the hype, they'll at least have some astronomical Steam figures. The hype's pretty real at this point.

Honestly, what do you think can be ruined? I mean, the gameplay is alright but they did say that 48 minute demo was early alpha, vertical slice shit. What about the demo at E3, any game journo got a hold of the game or something? I vaguely remember them saying they were hosting demos of the game.

Oddly enough, you'd be surprised. Apparently when Witcher 2 found its way onto torrents, it was reportedly the Steam version that was so dispensed. It was almost as if the pirates felt that putting up torrents of a non-DRM'd game was beneath them.

Actually, they showed a little bit of footage of the gameplay. Mostly snippets here and there, of various locations, areas and etc. Plus showing that you will drive vehicle in first person.

Always remember that the European Union did a study on piracy and found that it had no real effect on sales, before shelving it since it wasn't the answer they were looking for, which has me thinking that if you treat your customer like a criminal... you'd be surprised how eager they are to become one.
