Cyberpunk 2077 Grieving Thread

Sorry for bumping. No new news.

Just the reaction to the female Default V's redesign has pretty much made /v/ friggin hate the game. I'm seeing the same arguments being used over and over which gives me the impression there is some smear campaign against the game at this point.

"They haven't acknowledged the fan's complaints, therefore something is up" which they seem to be nailing in over and over which is really weird.

I'm for once just baffled as to why people are so negative towards a game which obviously looks pretty good even if they had to cut a few features they were clearly planning. I'm really hoping they are wrong because I will be pretty upset if the game turns out to be as bad as they claim it to be, especially if it's really politically correct and feminist to the point it becomes really boring and unremarkable and annoying.

I mean the game got delayed from this month to September, the hype has gone down a bit and it's frustrating how the discussion behind this game is more negative than the discussion behind a game that deserves it, like Last of Us Part 2.

There is a customization option for a reason, the default avatar is just there for promotional purposes

I really don't see where the idea that it's gonna be all politically correct has come from to be fair. They got in hot water over an in-game advert using "girlbulge" to sell energy drinks (which is exactly what the anarcho-capitalist high tech and low life future would do). Which they refused to bend the knee over. And there was that smoothbrain from RPS who claimed that it was problematic to have a predominantly black street gang called the Animals. No knees bent there either.

I think it was from a throwaway comment in some article about how players could make their character anything they had in mind, including some vague reference to trans stuff. Because that interview was a couple of months or so after David Hill's baby tantrum and Anita Sarkeesian's failed extortion attempt, some people went full OAG and entered panic mode.

But in all honesty, if any game would have trans or weird gender characters and also actually make sense and feel organic instead of just being forced virtue signalling, it'd be a game like Cyberpunk 2077. This is a game where cybernetics, biotech sci-fi antics, and actual body modification are part and parcel of the setting and genre.

Oh god yes. I think I remember OAG himself shrieking about how in the gameplay footage of 2019 the PC woke up with another man in his bed that the game was by degenerates for degenerates, as if you were forced to have the PC get gay with other characters.

*insert sj double u sperging*

First of all you made me think there was gonna be another fucking delay.

I'm really enjoying the vast production of gamer rage over V's make-under tbh. V is a hand to mouth mercenary living in a gang infested ghetto. Her original look was nice but looked like a polished cosplay without any wear and tear. Anyway if they hate it so much they can mod the shit out of the game to insert their loli 0.02 seconds after it comes out. These same people sperging about realism and posting embarassing questions on CP2077 twitter "um um will I be able to sex simulator???" You are really letting these people change your opinion on an unreleased game with like 1 gameplay reveal.

There's still this one insane autist (inb4 what do you mean "one" insane autist, hurr hurr, it's way too obvious of a reply, you fuckers) on /v/ who absolutely shits up any cyberpunk thread complaining that there won't be a straight male V option because they didn't show it in the first preview.

Since the thread is bumped anyway, I wish they would put out some more news on this. It's about the only big game I'm looking forward to this year.

Likewise. Though I have been playing Doom Eternal and that's proper old school shooter fun.

Possibly intrigued by Horizon Zero Dawn which is coming to PC after five years. Also BG3.

Descent is being remade this year. Might give that a go. I loved Descent 1 & 2 back in the Windows 95 era. Even if it was rock hard (there was one enemy, the Class 1 Driller, that was silent and hit you with pinpoint accurate hitscan shots immediately it saw you, and bosses that had homing flash missiles that did huge damage and made your entire display go white and would happily spam these right at you.)

Well, for Horizon Zero Dawn, if you liked the Assassins Creed games, you'll likely enjoy it. It plays a lot like them. I was kinda mixed on it, because I was hoping they were going to make the RPG elements a bit more deep.

Chromebook 2. That is all.

Eh, didn't they make their character creator genderless and to be a body type choice as a response to people being mad at the fact there were two gender options? I know VG 24/7 framed it that way. Plus the female redesign was released on #InternationalWomensDay; which anyone celebrating for any reason sets up red flags to me. Like celebrating its inverse does.

VG24/7 said:
As we reported last year, Cyberpunk 2077 will feature a genderless character creation system – in what is both a nod to the themes of transhumanism and identity incorporated into the game’s world, as well as a response to the critical reaction of Cyberpunk’s earlier male/female character creation system that many claimed felt neither progressive nor inclusive.

“And our character creation menu, compared to the last demo, we now give you so many more options,” said senior concept artist Marthe Jonkers in 2019.

“For instance, you don’t choose your gender anymore. You don’t choose, ‘I want to be a female or male character’ you now choose a body type. Because we want you to feel free to create any character you want.

“So you choose your body type and we have two voices, one that’s male sounding, one is female sounding. You can mix and match. You can just connect them any way you want.”

Actually OAG was mad because that vid showed a woman waking up with a man in her bed. He was assblasted about a game with a woman who sometimes has casual sex.

Even though he lauds Loli porn games.

That is even more exceptional. Deary me. But then again, his yen for loli H-games might be because they provide a totally submissive and perfect waifu / tendie slave.

Again, the "genderless" thing and referring to the genders as body types is less egregious in the game given the setting and genre, and the International Women's Day tweet was probably just a rubber stamp virtue signal to calm down the Woke Twitter mobs without actually changing the game itself. They haven't done any virtue signalling or woke nods since then as far as I know.

Again, One Angry Gamer is just being a sped again.

that's just /v/ being /v/, plus the fact it's been documented that it's just a few people at most who spam the exact same pasta complaints and spread the same blatant misinformation at every turn.

it's less of a smear campaign and more of the usual shitposting, anyone with half a fucking brain can verify this shit by just visiting LinkedIn.

if you envision the shitposters being in the rowboat, you can sort of see where this sort of mentality comes from.

Thats the one bit I never quite understood about this drama!! The devs have been pretty straight forward about whats going to be in the game, you can mix and match looks, voices, whatever. Its literally a dream come true for the d&i community and its in a setting where its not shoehorned into the lore. I guess some people will never be happy.
