Cyberpunk 2077 Grieving Thread

This made me realise.

HE'S ONLY USING ONE GUN.

wait, what?
didn't even notice that, holy shit :story:

For the doubters:

eh, there's still plenty of jank, since they are a small devstudio. lot of the systems they added over time (for free at least) are as deep as a puddle and more often than not hardly synergize, to the point you can almost completely ignore some of them like living ships, muh mechs or freighters and sending out frigates. it really needs a cross overhaul and bit of polish, but the game's too old for that and people progressed too far that they can't extensively alter everything.
otoh they probably got one of the best VR implementations done in vidya so far - still not without issues, but impressive nonetheless.

even if cp2077 will be serviceable at some point in a few years (doubtful they'll stick to it that long to begin with), they're still a huge-ass company with more support studios and contractors than HG ever had.

How can you even get in any IT company, business or game oriented, if you're not a tranny, fag, gay, jew, nig, or, at least, at a minimum, a single woman?
At the senior level, it's skill, experience and confidence during the interview. Not even joking. Don't even bother putting any woke virtue signaling of any kind on your resume. No pronouns either. You're a professional, not an activist -- you don't have time for that garbage because you're too busy getting shit done. Honestly, you can afford to chuckle and ask "are you serious?" if the interviewer asks for your pronouns. Either they get offended and you don't get the job (which you wouldn't have wanted anyway) or they laugh it off and get down to business, and they respect you for deftly dodging the subject and putting them at ease knowing they don't have to walk on eggshells with you.

I speak from experience on this, from both sides of the interview table. I've managed IT staff and done the whole interview dance, and people who talk tech, show enthusiasm for tinkering and "playing" with new tech and also demonstrate strong skills and knowledge are rare, but almost always get the job because I know they'll actually work and not preach constantly. I've never hired anyone who put their pronouns on their resume or told me verbally during an interview. And on the job hunt side, I adopted the above attitude in late October, landed an interview with a great mid-sized company, had an offer on the table a week later, and started two weeks after that. And all that in the midst of the Shaolin Shakes panic and lockdowns where people are losing their jobs left and right and companies are avoiding hiring like the plague.

There's a natural upper limit to the proportion of "woke" employees to "valuable" employees a business can have before it stagnates and topples. Even at giant companies like Google, there's at least a dim understanding that you can't employ exclusively woketards because typically they're not really good at anything besides spouting wokeness and ruling over internal discussion boards searching for wrongthink. Someone still has to keep the lights on.

Google especially is having massive brain drain problems (largely because of their wokeness) and they're frantically searching constantly for competent employees. They know they're in trouble. Ever notice how their services keep getting slower and losing features? They're losing the engineers who originally made those services and the people still at the company don't know how they work and often aren't competent enough to figure it out. They've tried putting woketards to work on real tech work, and it's almost always disastrous (and hilarious, like when their image classification thing started classifying super-dark black people as gorillas, or when people tricked their image search into showing barbeque grills when you searched for "Jewish crib" or something to that effect).

Universities are mass-producing woketards and precious few competent IT workers, and even the young and starry-eyed junior-level IT workers know what a job at Google entails these days -- high cost of living, cult-like atmosphere and devotion to far-leftist policy and activism, and dubious-at-best technological research and engineering. Their glory days are over. The "actually qualified" labor pool is shrinking fast, and smaller companies are quietly scooping up a lot of the talent with better pay, benefits, corporate cultures and more challenging work.

Pajeets can't save the day either. That "talent pool" is even more shallow than what American universities provide. I've worked with some in a couple contract positions over the past few years, and they're fucking terrible. A company that relies on Pajeets to develop software and keep things running is doomed.

If you actually know your shit and make it clear from the start that you don't bother with politics at all (at least in the workplace), you can still find work. Even big woke companies still need you. They just keep it quiet so they don't offend the woketards.

I just shake my head at all these YouTubers who are going on and on about what their dream options will be in terms of "romancing" in this game.
About things they'll say and how they'll behave, etc.
Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places but I have yet to see a preview from someone with a balanced life who doesn't go on about this.
Don't know about anyone else but a preview from someone like that would more suit the other elements I'm interested in.

The only romance option I am interested in with a game like Cyberpunk is hardcore mindbreak and corruption. There are so many opportunities.

But the progressives are way too prude for that.

That's real rough, bruv.

My first reaction is lmao console players aim like shit. My second is why the hell are bikes so broken in this?

There's just so many base level game design issues. If you need the biker for the scripted sequence, spawn him later instead of making that one invincible. Didn't Vice City have tire blown out animations?

Even Halo 1 had a better solution to vehicles driving off cliffs and those vehicles were janky AF.

Anyone remember the unfortunate reboot of SiN in the mid 2000s? This reminds me a lot of that.

I think it'd be nice to have a vehicle or two that handles like the warthog in this game. Cyberpunk is perfect for some cars with 4 wheel steering, and giving a couple vehicles that sort of control would be rewarding if you could master it. Hell they could even have some implants that would specifically make vehicles with that alternate steering control that would make it easier.

Instead we'll probably get something where every car drives and controls the same way.

But on the bright side, if this game is anything like the Witcher then 2 will be pretty good, and 3 will be bulllshots with overpraised gameplay.

From experience - absolutely agree with everything in your post, although the woke problem is not as pronounced where I live as in the US. But one more thing about the pajeets - it is quite usual, that you gather them, you explain what needs to be done and how to do it. Then you ask: did you understand? You hear 'yes'-es and see heads nodding. Then you ask - ok, explain to me what did you understand? And then you watch an implosion of confusion.

I was furious back then, but I find it hilarious in retrospect. I heard somewhere that proudness is a big part of their culture and they have really hard time to admit, that they did not understand something. I've worked with some decent ones, but they were few and far in between.

That's what that was? I thought he was dancing.

Off topic, but I tried getting NMS on sale a month ago and had to refund it because it ran like shit on my PC.
Not to derail, but I have always hated the idea that somehow Hello games redeemed themselves after "fixing" No Man's Sky after years of patches and DLC. Sean Murray lied to people's faces, faked footage, when on national television, and made up shit. This wasn't a case of a developer having to make some hard choices and scale back their ambitions and cut a ton of stuff in a desperate last attempt to get something published, these devs were caught lying about major features from some of the earliest presentations

Imagine Audi sells you a car and talks about how great it and how many gizmos it has. You buy the car and are shocked to find that they have only given you the chassis, but don't worry! Audi engineers will come round every fortnight to add more parts so that in a year or two, you have a car similar to the one you wanted. Imagine everyone on the internet then starts praising Audi because "at least they didn't leave you with the chassis and run off with your money".

The games industry is one the most fucked, immoral, and anti-consumer industries and the only reason it got this way is because "gamers" are retards that will consume any grey mediocre slop as long as there is a big enough hype train and praise companies as heroes because they at least used some spit before fucking them

Rant over.

Good to know I can stay comfy playing the masterpiece that is RDR2's storyline
RDR2 storyline is like any given Hollywood movie: somewhat decent at parts, entertaining, has one worthless character whose antics are never properly given the just dessert she deserves, and the minute you take a step back and look at the whole it's either marred by/window dressing for ideological proselytizing

However, Marston was always great and the gameplay is fun. Being comfy is top tier.

My first reaction is lmao console players aim like shit.
You would, too, if you had to aim firearms with your thumb. Once you graduate from controllers to mouse+keypad you never look back.

I bought my NMS key on g2a like eight months ago, so Murray can eat my dick.
