Cyberpunk 2077 Grieving Thread

back in the 2000's we called people like you graphic whores, game runs like shit on consoles though
Game runs like shit on pcs too, that's the issue. Ryzen CPUs getting gimped by poorly compiled code, etc. It's unacceptable for a release of this magnitude. Especially considering the game doesn't actually do all that much AI calculation for crowds them being this CPU intensive because they're all spaghetti coded with their fixed routines is just a poor showing.
Having to settle for less than industry standard resolutions and performance just to get the game running isn't the win everyone thinks it is. If you're not a graphics whore you might as well play the game on PS5 or something.

I know this game isn't exanctly an RPG any more, but it's really annoying that eveytime I choose an option, I have Silverhand's annoying ass bitching or making some annoying 3edgy5me quip. I don't know if the rumor of Keanu wanting to do more voice lines resulting in them completely buthering the story is true, but it's starting to seem like it is. Also, there's some weird denial going on about the state of this game. On reddit there's a spin-off of the main game sub called r/lowsodiumcyberpunk that's just complete retardation. Anytime someone criticizes this game these people spit the same thing: "YEAH WELL I'M ENJOYING THE GAME AND THAT'S ALL THAT MATTERS!" That's cool, and I enjoy it too, but it doesn't change that the game's a buggy mess and they lied about a lot of the features.

I didn't even know that existed. The main subreddit for the game is such a shitshow of anger and disappointment that they actually had to slink off to create a separate hugbox for the game.
Yeah, reading through the main sub is a riot because it's a mix of pure rage and memes and clips of the game's most hilarious bugs.

Both subs are complete cancer. One is obsessed over a mediocre game that wasn't a 10/10 to the point that they often nitpick stupid shit, and one is a hugbox where they post screenshots and and obsess over the female characters being hot. The comment sections of both are just people telling each other to kill themselves over a video game. Still, the main sub makes a lot of good memes and the other one has some decent guides and tips.

This fucking game is No Man's Sky and Sonic 06's horrible lovechild. It's more broken than Sonic 06 and has nearly NMS's same level of disaster except NMS wasn't delisted from storefronts for being unbearably broken. This game's only saving grace preventing it from being a complete disaster is that it still got game journos to give it 10/10s despite its glaringly glitchridden nature and was hyped enough to sell 10ish million+ copies on launch day alone.

If this had happened to any other game, it would be remembered as one of the worst gaming disasters in history.

While the entire pc crowd is being ecstatic about finally getting their chance to shit on smug console players they're doing themselves an absolute disservice.
Because the game performs and runs like crap on PC. Unless you're ok with having the game look like complete ass and playing in 480p with all settings dialed on low it will run like shit. Even with a RTX 3080 this game will chug on 30 fps if you want it to look good and not like a bunch of blurry pixels smeared on your screen. So all those pc gamers bragging how the game runs buttery smooth on their system are probably playing with ray tracing and all the features that make the game look like a 2020 game as opposed to a 2005 one turned off.
I am more than aware that this game has technical problems, personally. I simply think that CDPR will fix them through patches, just like they did with Witcher 3.

This is ridiculously hyperbolic to the point of being bullshit. Without raytracing on a 2080Ti it runs fine, with the framerate rarely dropping below 70. It runs more smoothly than, for an example of a recent open-world game, Kingdom Come: Deliverance.* This is at 1440p with everything on max and Reshader running.

* The reason for this is that KC D has actual NPC scheduling which results in the CPU bottlenecking things. KC D is still a fantastic game, though, and honestly 2077 compares kind of unfavourably given how many features actually did end up in KC D that were promised by a small studio making its first game.

Based Snoy

Kingdom Come: Deliverance was the fucking tits and going through the world as Henry the drunken illiterate blacksmith's son felt a million times more immersive than driving through dull city blocks and only occasionally stopping to beat up on some street trash.
Cybersex's problem is that you're stuck with false promises, Keanu who's always insulting you when you pick anything other than his options and Lifepath's being more of a "prologue" than a way to pick a class.

There is a comical amount of cut content in this game. Its like what was released is half of what they worked on.

Here is an early map version

Says the guy playing the game in 1440p without any next gen graphical features, because his PC might shit itself otherwise. Cope is hell of a drug.
If I wanted to play the game looking like rancid ass to get 60fps I could do that as well. I got a Core i9-10900K and a RTX 3080, I can probably play the game with better performance than you. The issue is I am not willing to compromise on visual quality and performance because I'm not that much of a fanboy cocksucker who will play this game in 480p with console visuals and then brag about it online.

Post of pic of the RTX with a piece of paper that has your forum name and date on it.

Probably.

We've seen it with No Man's Sky and Sea of Thieves (I think?) as well as every Witcher game.

Why not this too? People love a good cumback story.

because cp2077 wasn't done my a small indie studio that could probably keep working for a few years on their casual procedural universe sim, nor was it an open world pirate pvp game supposed to sell microtransactions where the content comes from the players itself. how long was cp2077 in development? how big is the team? and let's assume they really want to "fix" it - which comes out of their pocket, after they were generous with their money in the past only hiring the best devs and taking the time it needs to not be a bug-ridden mess - what is there actually left to "fix"? bugs and performance, sure, and then what? it's still a single player rpg "action adventure story" most people that bought it (and a lot that didn't) will have finished soon, with pretty much no replayability, even less when the next shiny new AAA thing shoves their advertisements in their face. because that's the thing with stories, once you're done with them there's hardly any reason to go back.

what a lot of people seem to fail to grasp is that CDPR isn't some small polish indie studio any more, they are a publicly traded company trying to swim in the same pond as EA/UBI/actiblizz, they won't completely rework the game to what people actually expect from it because there is no fucking money in it (good luck trying to sell people dlc "expansions" after this shitshow), the ROI on any post launch support is minimal at best, and even with the PR hit that money is better spend on marketing for their next game, because that's what's gonna generate more money in the future, not an already released game everybody played once and finished after it was pretty much designed to be played once and be done with it. AI and open world is just window dressing if there's hardly any point to any of it. it simply doesn't matter any more what those "friendly good guys at CDPR" (who mostly left long ago) want when the "friendly good guys giving them money" kindly suggest what to do. like every other fucking AAA company they were so eager to become.

This game was designed with high end PCs from 4 years ago as the base model. There was absolutely no way the PS4 or Xbone could have handled it. From what I see they tried to reduce the load by severely curtailing the number of NPCs on Console, but that is just pissing in the wind when compared to how large the game environment is in a vertical and horizontal space. So they tried to fix that too by reducing the load in space, but if you are running fast or in a vehicle, you easily outrun that, leading to game breaking glitches.

[laughs in 2014's asscreed unity]

Sony and Microsoft are absolutely at fault. Once again, they are supposed to check these games out when they license them for their systems and put them on their store fronts. I know everyone wants to hate and shit on CDPR, and you should, but stop acting like Sony and MS got bamboozled. The only way they got bamboozled is when CDPR said they should just refund it.

they didn't get bamboozled because they don't give a shit. their TOS are clear, no refunds unless the product is faulty. ofc "faulty" is relative, I'd call low twenty cinematic fps and paying for an additional service for multiplayer sony has not contribution in at all (last time I checked sony doesn't pay for servers, if it's not p2p outright) faulty, but plenty of people have no problem paying money for it.

the point is sony/ms only care about 2 things, in this order: a) will it allow people to break out of their walled garden? b) will the game be in a state where they can be legally be fucked with (exploding consoles, game simply not working anyone with 2 braincells would call it non-functional etc.)? anything else, bugs/performance/shit story/misleading marketing simply doesn't matter - and why should it? it's not their job to doublecheck every company's marketing or do their QA. yes, it's their platform and ultimately they decide what gets sold and how, but that's where contracts come in (they suddenly remember when the PR gets too bad). it's not like people care most of the time about it anyway, they'll eat the "no refund" and then happily extent their ps+/live sub and preorder the next AAA based on marketing, and that's why sony/ms hardly ever cave until absolutely necessary - because they don't have to with customers like this.

I didn't expect the game to live up to the hype but I also didn't expect such a giant shitshow.

From Cyberpunk 2077 to Cyberglitch 1945

tbh at this point I'm more interested in a nice little alternate reality dieselpunk game...

Lol what, the brilliant management at CDPR already said they were the ones who pushed the game out early.
Nah man, its those greedy corporate investors, wanting to make returns on their investment. CDPR did nothing wrong, they did everything correct - This guy and many others no doubt.

Beyond the performance and bugs, I have to say that the game seems to be disappointing, from what I've seen.

This is not what was pitched back in 2012. And I get it, things change. But increasingly, this seems less like actual Cyberpunk and more like futuristic GTA with some very light RPG elements that meld in a confusing, unbalanced mess of an economy and lifeless world design. Things that can't be fixed in simple patches.

I mean, look at this:

The class system got cut. Flying vehicles got cut, the map philosophy of verticality and depth as opposed to surface area fell by the wayside, the world itself doesn't live up to being any more lively than a Far Cry game, most of the RPG mechanics got cut if they were ever there in the first place, and the actual story seems less concerned with being a Cyberpunk story (and I don't mean in that hackjob political commentary nonsense, I mean just thought provoking sci-fi) and more on being a Keanu Reeves movie.

And the art style change... I remember watching the 2018 re-reveal trailer and thinking "Too much sunlight, and it just doesn't look the same". And hell, was that right.

Why does CP2077 feel like atheist commie SJW wish fulfillment more than a dystopia? Name one thing that's actually dystopian about the setting from the perspective of a far blue haired antifant.

In Cyberpunk universes it has traditionally been the point that there is no soul; again, to sperg about the grandfather of all Cyberpunk -stories, the Neuromancer; it has a side-plot where the protagonists steal a data-construct made from the mind of a long dead hacker called Flatline. Although Flatline is self-aware and has all his memories up to the point of his death, it's underlined heavily that he isn't a real person in the same way that living people are i.e. he has no ability to really improvise anymore. In the end chapter where the protagonist decker Case is hacking the Wintermute/Neuromancer AI with the Flatline, and the AI traps Cases mind inside a VR construct, Case muses to himself that now they are truly and utterly fucked, since while Flatline was the best of the hackers when he was alive, now he is just a "dead man speaking", and that the true AI they're facing can easily run circles around his limitations.

You're right. That is only 4,000 things that a PC player can do that a console player can't. They're basically even.

All of which are cosmetic upgrades at best. No real in-depth modding in that game.

If this had happened to any other game, it would be remembered as one of the worst gaming disasters in history.

Y'know, I kind of believe that this one will be remembered as one of the worst disasters in gaming history for years to come. It takes some skill to fuck shit up this badly.

No, of all the many things you can criticize the game for, I think it still ended up a decent cyberpunk story and very inline with the tabletop's theming.

DICE is already somehow forgiven after the BF2 and BFV fuckups, everyone's going to pre-order Starfield, and people are already getting hyped for Mass Effect 5. People have a short memory about this kind of shit except in a few cases.
