Cyberpunk 2077 Grieving Thread

I manage to run this game okay on my 8 year old pc with a 2 gigabyte fucking 750 TI.

After all the shitty console ports I have endured on the PC, I'm out of fucks to give.

Propably would have been professional to only release it on the PC.

Its not an amazing game, but not a horrible one either. Its a good enough play once. Worth around 20 dollars, not 60, but as a PC gamer, it was free for me.

A pity there are only bad endings, but I kind of expected it from the genre. V is fucked, even if the game did not have this debacle of a launch, a sequel was never an option... unless they wanted Neo as the player lol.

This is so fucking surreal to sit by and watch, as a legit fan of their games.

Im really liking this shitshow because they burned up their good will as a company for me over the course of the year but I'm also really disappointed cuz I want everyone to have the same experience and enjoy talking about their experiences. I was excited for the game and I still thinks its perfectly decent since it runs 98% fine for me - shitty cop AI, T poses, occasional clipping and the shallow world notwithstanding - that I wish everyone could have the same experience and appreciate all the work that went into what the game does do well :/

But it is definitely not what was pitched to us, definitely not. Even still, I've just been running around doing gigs and these side quests all feel like basically the same level of side quest/world building shit from Deus Ex HR and MD, for real. Guess I'm just easy to please.

But I smelled something was wrong back in the summer after the 2nd delay. No fucking way do so many delays, for the majority of the year, mean they were just polishing bugs and now we see why they did it. Base consoles just cannot handle this game, such as it is.

So incredibly sad.

When I saw that 40 min gameplay trailer from a year or two ago, I expected some of that to be cut/downgraded. However from what I am hearing/reading, it's all completely fucked. No Mans Sky managed to patch itself to a state where pretty much it became similar to what was advertised, but that's a live service game. This is a singleplayer game, short of bug fixes and adding bits to vary replays, there really doesn't seem to be much incentive to patch and update it to the state they promised.

For comparison - The NMS Origins trailer from a few months ago.
Remember that infamous giant snake/worm from the pre launch trailers that ended up being complete lies? They fucking referenced that and put it in. I can't see CDPR patching and updating this game to a state even remotely close to what NMS did. I think it can be patched so its playable, but the left out content is going to stay out.

people really need to let the ray tracing thing go. theres plenty to give this game shit for but a current gen game not being able to run a next gen feature well at launch isnt one of them. whats next saying that gta v sucked soely cause even the highest end computers still cant get the game to run well with grass settings on high when there are way worse issues with the game?

Just use your toaster for it's intended purpose of making breakfast. It's like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.

Are you fucking kidding me?

CD Projekt under fire again after Devotion removed from GOG.com

The creators of Cyberpunk 2077, and owners of GOG.com, have reversed plans to publish Taiwanese game Devotion, and their excuse is terrible. Cyberpunk 2077 publisher and developer CD Projekt really can’t catch a break this month and, as with the bug-ridden Cyberpunk, it’s hard to feel much sympathy for them after their latest PR disaster. Earlier in the day Taiwanese developer Red Candle Games announced that critically acclaimed survival horror Devotion would be added to GOG.com, after previously being removed from Steam when the game caused a diplomatic incident involving a meme comparing Chinese president Xi Jinping to Winnie the Pooh. Although Red Candle were ostensibly the ones that removed the game from Steam it was already being review-bombed by Chinese gamers and has never been available again in the West – so it’s appearance on GOG.com was warmly welcomed by horror fans.

The problem is that later in the day CD Projekt made an announcement of their own, stating that the game will not be released on GOG.com after all. The absurdly unconvincing excuse for this was that they made the decision, ‘after receiving many messages from gamers.’

Many on social media have taken this to mean that CD Projekt have come under pressure from Chinese gamers and wanted to make sure that GOG.com wasn’t banned in China, which is something they maybe should have thought of before initially giving Red Candle the go ahead. Forward thinking doesn’t seem to have been the company’s forte lately though, and this is the very last thing that CD Projekt needed after all the controversy over Cyberpunk 2077.

Fuck. Right. Off.

Fuck these people, they need to get Liberty Primed.

Fundamentally, I think the first and greatest flaw CDPR made was revealing the game too early, and then over-promising in the initial previews.

The fact that they promised a release date of "when it's ready" was also a negative point, as it didn't enforce an actual deadline to get the mechanics nailed down- hence the 8 year dev time and effusive promises that were made- all until they ran into the wall and needed to get the game out the door.

Of course, I think some of it is colored by the fact that shareholders like knowing what's in the pipeline, but I strongly think that the recent technique of revealing a game once it's basically feature-finished and releasable within half-a-year or so is far superior.

The problem now is that the roadmap is sort of messy. They need at least another year to put this together into a working state, but CP 2K77 sales are going to be crippled into the future especially as word of mouth is bad and Sony has pulled it off its store right before Christmas sales- meaning that future cashflow is affected. Furthermore, CDPR doesn't have anything else in its pipeline that can quickly cover for CP2K77, and the Witcher series are already quite old (I know they have GOG but it only goes so far).

Going to be interesting to see if they try to tough it out though this unintentional early access release and finish the game, or if they basically accept it as-is, fix the bugs, toss in a few DLCs, and call it a loss.
