There will not be another Cyberpunk for a while. There will be disappointing games, sure. There will be disasters, yes.
There will not be another Cyberpunk. For there to be another cyberpunk you're going to need a developer stupid enough to announce a game FOUR YEARS before they even begin development on it. Not just announce the name or say that it will come eventually in a board meeting, or that they acquired the license, but put out a full on cinematic trailer hyping the game up.
You need the entire gaming media covering said game for roughly 8 years. Say what you will about Starfield and GTA VI hype, there isn't much coverage of them outside of vague rumors that only hardcore fans pay attention to.
You need a developer stupid enough to completely change the direction of the game two years before release.
You need a developer stupid enough to tie themselves to one of the biggest names in hollywood, upping the hype factor even more.
You need a developer stupid enough to to make all sorts of financing deals with console manufacturers forcing a release within a timeframe.
You need a console manufacturer to apparently skip out on all certifications/checks that allow the game to not even run on said systems.
You need tons of Youtubers to bold face lie about how great the game is in previews.
You need them to not only release said game that doesn't work on system, but then to go and remove the game from their storefront after the damage is done. (this is the big one)
The AAA industry is fucking retarded, but it takes effort to get to this level of disaster. And after it was all said and done, normies didn't even really care that much. It was the gaming press that made the biggest stink of it all. Similar to No Man's Sky, it was a reaction based on all of them overhyping the game only to have egg all over their face after it was said and done.
