Careercow Dan Harmon - Creator of Community, co-creator of Rick and Morty, and barely functional alcoholic

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Dan Harmon. His humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of self-important alcoholics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer’s head...
There was a Harmontown episode where he talked about being molested by his cousin as a child and how he’s been suicidal for years. He's also talked about it a few times on his own podcast called Grandma's Virginity. Hope these entitled fanboys aren't making him feel like shit.
You just know you deal with an unpleasant person, if he puts his name into the stuff he produces. (Harmontown, Harmonquest...)

Is it just me or do fuckers like this think that people live so precariously through them or their creations that making a comment like "Shut the fuck up or be blocked" sounds like a real threat? Mah guy, life goes on. You made a decent cartoon as a vessel for your own broken worldview. The world will keep turning even if you block everyone in it. But i guess when your slamming enough vodka and ever clear to kill a house of rhinos you gotta do what you from putting your head in a wood chipper set to high.

If I was ten years younger I could see myself posting there. There are only two levels of known consciousness, that being the sub and the super. We can't bring shit like chakra in because it's not confirmed or real.

Isn't it true that he drinks to do the voice of Rick?
Fucking heard this in the voice of Rick Sanchez.

Justin Roiland does the voice for Rick Sanchez as well as 90% of the cast, not Dan. I do think he drinks water to get the burping in though?

Other than being an additional "writer" for the show I'm not sure what Dan has been doing lately for the show. Anyone else know more about that?

People like him have their heads so far up their own asses that they essentially think being deprived of the ""privilege"" of having their passing attention in a Twitter slapfight is actually a form of punishment.

" mirrors, I'm 44! I know the truth!"

The subconscious hasn't been demonstrated or otherwise proven to be 'real' either. It's Physchology's Dark Matter, except where Dark Matter fits into equations in such a way that it satisfies reality, the subconscious just lets you explain away a ton of complex internal phenomena and functions of memory. It's a big part of why Physiology has had an ongoing feud with Psychology for decades, actually, and modern Psychology tends to avoid the topic as much as possible.

I've been semi-aware of Harmon's shit for years. I do like both Community and Rick and Morty, but it doesn't shock me at all Harmon is an asshole.

Has anyone here seen the Harmontown documentary though? It's interesting how it paints him as a troubled soul, like it acknowledges his temper issues and his relationship problems with his girlfriend (the one he divorced like 2 years later). It's been a while since I've seen it, but I wonder how it holds up in light of all the dumb shit Harmon's been doing in the years since.

Dan Harmon is such a fucking asshole. I know you aren't supposed to get mad at lolcows but my heart broke a hundred times over when I read his fucking twitter tirade at that one dude, where the guy was apologizing over and over and talking about how terrible he felt.

Not even KiwiFarms is that vindictive, even when you have a thread about someone like Russel Greer.

Dan "encouraged" method acting for Justin to get Rick's voice right in one episode where he was supposed to be extra shitfaced.
To quote the producer: "And this is, by far, the least productive and messiest record day we've ever had. So thanks a lot, Harmon."
Of course it's mainly in jest, but I can't help but feel for the VA.

He drinks water and beer to get the belching right, as expained in this video:
He low-key got sick to the stomach during the pilot.
"The pilot, that was the worst. For some reason I was like, 'Rick has to burp every fucking line.' So I was in there for four hours recording Rick, and just swallowing air and doing every single line with a burp take. I left that studio with the worst stomach ache. I went home and laid in bed and thought I was going to fucking die or have to go to the hospital, it was seriously bad. And the irony is that we cut the radio play together and Harmon was like, 'There are way too many fucking burps in this,' and I was like, 'Oh fuck, you're right! This is disgusting.'"
