Careercow Dan Harmon - Creator of Community, co-creator of Rick and Morty, and barely functional alcoholic

It's pretty easy. Harmon keeps his shitty personality to a minimum around Erin because they're an item. They eventually decide to get married. Once that happens, Harmon begins to feel that he's already got his hooks into her so he no longer has to try. His usual personality begins to show. A few months into the marriage, their relationship begins to deteriorate, around the time the episode would be entering production.

That just means their marriage was a sham anyways and was always doomed to fail.

The chances of a normal, well adjusted person co-creating Rick and Morty are pretty slim.

Rick and Morty isn't even that cerebral or fringe to warrant such a remark. Anybody with a sufficient amount of bitterness could write Rick and Morty.

They should get Harlan Ellison to write a few episodes, I'd rent an IMAX theater auditorium and pile the seats up next to me with all the junkfood of the world to see that.

Harlan Ellison and Dan Harmon trying to work together would end with Harlan beating Dan to death while screaming “This is how the asshole’s journey ends!” and shoving a Hugo Award statue up Dan’s story circle.

Definitely agree that Rick is these fans' "ultimate power fantasy character"

He's a genius, cruel, strong, a jerk with a heart of gold, and is always right.

In fact the only thing Rick is not, is that he isnt handsome. Although many fanarts depicts him as unconventional handsome.

Heck his alcoholism is regarded as cool and not a problem.

But theres something I notice about Rick that a lot of his fans seem to want to emulate.

Its the ability to one up people all the time. In the show Rick is never wrong. He's always right, and even if he isnt like in the pickle episode, then its mostly ignored by him.

He always gets the last word. And no matter how smart the enemy is, he somehow is able to beat them by being several steps ahead. Noone can seem to beat him.

Many of his fans wish that they can be smart enough to always beat their bullies, or have the last laugh or always be right. In reality, many of the fans are just nerdy guys who could barely say anything let alone fight someone with their smarts.

In the end, Rick is just a fan fantasy of being the coolest edgiest smartest character in the world.
"nothin personnel kid" comes to mind

-sam hyde: got fired for supporting trump
-dan harmon: makes women cry, treats underpayed employees like trash, is possibly autistic, makes short films about raping women, cheats on his wife, pressures and hovers over partner. still hired

lol, adult swim must be a fucking hellhole

Williams Street and Adult Swim have had a reputation for being complete shit for years, going back to the 90s I believe.

I honestly don't understand why anyone even talks to this guy, let alone hang out with him or marry him. He looks like a smelly homeless guy and he sounds like the type of guy that would just complain about how everybody and everything is awful and how intellectual he is.

See that Rick rant about Jerry above: he's a social parasite that lures people in through his general pathetic...ness, and then latches on and starts sucking all the joy out of their lives.
Honestly, this behavior isn't too uncommon among people with Type-2 ("Angry") depression codependent with substance abuse problems.

Season 3 took so long allegedly because Harmon and Roiland would constantly get into arguments and that led to them never getting any work done.

Honestly, the best thing that could happen is for them to boot Harmon off the project and bring someone else in to reign in Roiland.
