He seemed to think it was funny at first? But live streaming every shower you take? It was tied into his live work outs at first for sure.
Dude really like talking about his small penis too.

Is this whole thread just feeding his humiliation fetish?

remember when Archer got a multiple season order like this then had to fill a lot of it out with elseworld shit

I’d hate to see R&M attempt that. Each season would just be an extended episode of Interdimensional Cable.
Considering the whole "infinite universes" thing it might actually be a little interesting if they do a one-off episode per season where we follow a different universe's Rick and Morty, just to see how different they are.

I think there's more potential in that idea because Rick and Morty's concept at least supports it. Only question is, could Harmon and Roiland take advantage of an idea like that. Personally, I would like to see that, but given how the quality of the writing has slowly deteriorated as the show went on, I'm not holding my breath.

The train wreck associated with the show will be so much more entertaining than the show.

Can we get a timeline where dan's ego doesn't collapse the product he is attached to like a dying sun?

The best part of that pitch would be that it would make Bushland Adventures canon.

Similarly, when MST3K was given a 72 episode order (split into three seasons of 24 episodes apiece), they were forced to secure films that they would've never given a second glance because they had to fill their order. Sometimes they got lucky (Manos: The Hands of Fate) and sometimes they didn't (The Castle of Fu Manchu). What I think is going to happen is some of the more insufferable fans will try to make every other thing be the next Pickle Rick.

I think marketing will try to make every other thing be the next Pickle Rick.

I think people are giving Harmon and Rolland way too much credit about their work ethic. They were barely able to squeeze out 10 episodes for season 3 after months of delays when they were originally supposed to do 14. What makes anyone think they'll make it all the way to 70 episodes?

I blame Dan Harmon's alcoholism on that. With Roiland, the trick is getting him to stop.

They only have to do one thing. Just one fucking thing and that's just focus on making the fucking show the way a show should be made.

Season 3 fell flat on it's fucking face because it took all the pent-up drama and monologues that they expected us to care about (and we, in turn, expected a pay-off for) and then fucking trashed it, raised their arms in the air shaking them violently and then shouted "CHECK IT OUT, DIDN'T EXPECT THAT DID YA? WE ACTUALLY DON'T CARE HAHAHA!"

People don't seem to realize is that if you're building up something and people are expecting a pay-off for it, you fucking lose those people if your just gonna go "psyche! Fooled you!" Sure, you get the novelty of being one step ahead of your audience, but then what do you have? A lackluster performance that goes nowhere and was a waste of time and will be remembered as a waste of time and irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.

Forget the autistic fandom.
Forget the pseudo intellectual subtext.
Forget trying to be one step ahead of your fanbase.
Forget the gimmicks and references.

Just make the fucking show. Doesn't even have to be great. People just want something to look forward to on tv.

Harmon, you could clean yourself up and wash your hands of all this shit if you just stop pretending being fucking miserable and weird makes you interesting. It doesn't. Stop being an autistic cunt and just be a normal person.

>Ends Season 2 on a cliffhanger and proceeds to taunt the audience by going "Golly! How will they get out of THIS mess?"
>Starts Season 3 by immediately undoing everything the previous episode was setting up.

>Ends the premiere by promising that it's going to be dark and will involve the kids dealing with the parents splitting up.
>Nothing of value happens in this arc and it gets resolved at the end of the season with everyone acting like it never happened.

Fool me once Dan and Justin.

Season 3 failed because it tried to do pent-up drama in the first place. What made Seasons 1 and 2 work was Roiland's improvisational nonsense. Before Rick and Morty, Roiland was famous for a bunch of memey dipshit animations, back from when that was popular on the internet. Adult Swim is famous for taking this sort of unconventional shit and bringing it to a wider audience with a bigger budget. Harmon was brought in because, presumably, he hadn't fallen deep enough into depressive lolcow territory yet and Community was famous for being a quirky subversive show.

In Seasons 1 and 2, Rick was a barely functional alcoholic who got through life by running from his problems and being smart enough to rationalise away any action he could take. The show was intentionally stupid and didn't bother to focus on serious issues, because the fans were there to see insane comedy and not family drama. Season 1 was so out there they devoted an episode to Roiland blatantly improvising random shows off the top of his head, and it was most fans' favourite episode! However, as has been pointed out somewhere else in this thread, I can't remember where, Harmon's a control freak who needs each plot to be rigidly structured. Season 2's Interdimensional Cable episode wasn't nearly as good as Season 1's, so for Season 3 they replace it with a clearly scripted clip show.

Season 1 opened with Rick, drunk off his ass, struggling to even explain that he wanted to take Morty to the car. This was supposed to set the tone for the entire series. Now granted, Rick didn't stutter through every single line of dialogue, but the link to the show's improvisational roots was always there, until Season 3. Can you think of a moment in Season 3 where anyone was clearly floundering for what they wanted to say, or switched to a different word mid-sentence? There might be one, but I can't think of it. No, instead we got Rick talking to a therapist about how he's too smart to go to therapy and then looking all grumpy about it. Harmon probably thought that was really relatable.
